Trump's gonna turn Portland into the next DC with the legalized violence from the cops. Fuck
It is also important that decency and law&order have to go both ways.My personal take reiterated - I don't think people should be assassinated for their beliefs. But I also don't think neofascists should necessarily feel safe in public in the type of place people say America is. Especially if they're a staunch gun advocate.
Yeah, definitely.I think if something happened to Romney, more people on the left of center would show empathy and kindness than they did to Charlie. As far as I know, Romney had some dubious things, but he never spread evil or hatred.
Hmm. Knowingly points crazy followers in the directions of grieving parents to harass them about their deceased children, peddles a bunch of supplements, lies under oath, claims frogs are turning gay, turns everything into sensationalist BS, and for a solid decade or two was hell bent on convincing people that the left were Nazis. Now he's sporting a Hitler stache.![]()
Is he funny?
Exactly! The right likely know that as well, but they would rather cry victim.Yeah, definitely.
Like, I am all for living in a civilized society in which we give basic human kindness and decency to everyone. But that only works if there is a mutual understanding that it is the ideal to uphold. And that understanding just is not there on the right.
I'm not convinced the average right knows much at all.Exactly! The right likely know that as well, but they would rather cry victim.
That's not what is going on really, at all. Very few people willingly condone things they know are wrong. This is a difference of ideology with a lot of apathy involved. But that proves my point that they know what's horrible and what's not, just that they're selective about it. If a white man kills a white woman, they don't care, but if a minority kills a white woman, they start raising up a shitstorm.
Vance would still be taken seriously enough, and the only replacement needed is a loudmouthed bigot.
Hmm, the comey stuff is as far as I can tell a travesty but outside of that it'd be pretty interesting if, say, comey is put on trial and he begins talking about the content of his report from back in the day. Back then, in no small part because of incompetent media and spineless democrats, the only thing people cared about was whether trump was accused of a crime. But the report did detail a rather long string of shady nonsense concerning trump and other republicans (it's been a while so I am fuzzy on the details) and it'd be amazing if trump's ridiculous vendetta results in this being discussed again (or finally).I'm not convinced the average right knows much at all.
I frequent a few right-leaning forums as a reader to have an idea of the perspectives they carry, and help prevent living in my own bubble. I'm also related to quite a few right-leaning people. You can just look at the past month. Charlie Kirk killed? It's a partisan attack on civil rights and extreme leftists. Anyone who doesn't actively mourn is celebrating. A MAGA ex-Marine kills a few Mormons? "We need to not be so polarizing and be considerate of those affected by this tragedy." At this point Kirk's widow doesn't even seem to be in mourning.
They read about Comey (who I'm not even a fan of) getting indicted and give it a standing ovation without really even understanding why he was indicted. They don't see how it's a little odd that their president has had a vendetta against the guy and has posted how satisfied he is with the indictment.
They are still more focused on politicians who haven't been in the game for a decade than what's going on right now.
They hear that Trump wants to send troops to Portland and think "good" for no other reason than it's a liberal city.
Trump's overly vindictive mindset has transferred to them and they've fully embraced it.
The only saving grace we have at this point is he's 79, not a picture of perfect health, and doesn't have a viable replacement to spearhead the MAGA movement. Vance being president for any period would suck, but I don't think he'd be taken very seriously on either side of the aisle.
It's the right, they will not even think about a white woman being murdered by a white man or ministers getting arrested for child abuse, but as soon as a minority does it, they throw a shitfit and consider that evil. That's not what is going on really, at all. Very few people willingly condone things they know are wrong. This is a difference of ideology with a lot of apathy involved.
I mean, that's definitely something that is going on psychologically, but I think saying that this is a conscious thought process for most people is probably off the mark. They care since it's an immigrant doing crime, just like they care whether it's a leftist or Democratic doing something. Otherwise it's ignored.I definitely do think that rightwingers generally realize that they would never accept some things if they were done to them, but they want it for other people.
When a rightwinger is upset about an immigrant raping a woman, it is not about the woman and he knows that. It is about an immigrant taking control of women that the rightwinger things are rightfully his or his race's.
I feel it slips sometimes that the process is conscious. Maybe not all of it, but sometimes if you keep questioning these kinds of people, they start smiling and say something really fascist. For example, for the zionist crowd, I do think they are aware that they want innocent Palestinians to die. They don't say that usually, but they sometimes say that when they are pushed.I mean, that's definitely something that is going on psychologically, but I think saying that this is a conscious thought process for most people is probably off the mark. They care since it's an immigrant doing crime, just like they care whether it's a leftist or Democratic doing something. Otherwise it's ignored.
Tag on the misinformation relegating him to some antisemetic dick, bro that shit is absolutely abhorent. Like wtf it is 2025 and people cannot turn on a quick google search for some accuracy. Hell, don't wanna search? Shout out hey Siri/Google and just ask and I bet you it'd be much more accurate (disclaimer: ai is not always accurate but I bet it'd be here) than what misguided and paid off faith leaders would tell them.I'm disgusted by the Islamophobia surrounding him from Republicans and Democrats.
