Problem is though, they're way too happy with families being torn apart and don't seem to care that underaged girl are being sexually assaulted by ICE at concentration camps, despite losing their shit when a minority commits any sort of crime. It's beyond messed up how they're happy at innocent lives being ruined.

The cruelty is the point. You've likely seen a spike over the last few years in the use of the word “authoritarianism”, but the word "totalitarianism" is a more appropriate description of their behavior.

Totalitarianism is authoritarianism intensified. Whereas authoritarianism may leave society outside the political realm more or less intact, totalitarianism makes a total claim on civil society. In its most extreme form, as in North Korea, there is virtually no private sphere where persons can gather and exchange ideas outside the regime’s surveillance and control. Another difference is that authoritarian regimes often have no developed ideology beyond hatred of the political opposition. Totalitarian ideology can be elaborate, if syncretic, and can incorporate disparate, even contradictory ideas (including convoluted and childish conspiracy theories) to produce a kind of comprehensive worldview or substitute religion.

In regards to Trump and MAGA cultists, as with other totalitarian movements, the usage of violence is weaponized to achieve a strict social hierarchy that impedes social mobility by making a total claim over society.

It's actually normal for people to be cruel and vindictive toward people they perceive to be moral abominations. They don't deem such people to be "human" and a member of their tribe. Americans have a very sour opinion of their fellow citizenry that is highly unusual compared to other OECD countries. Some of it has to do with politics, but the root of the problem lies with Americans having a weak sense of self relative to one another. The reality is that large swathes of the population across the political spectrum see their peers as subhuman, are baffled by what motivates them, and take great delight in screwing over their fellow countrymen.
