Only four teams in the east have a winning record, Rose is out, and the Zards are starting to play well. The playoffs suddenly don't seem so far fetched. It's a shame their bench sucks. Add a decent scorer off the bench and this is a pretty good team. John Wall is second in APG, playing great ball the last few weeks.

stopping a streak ain't awesome, doing a streak is the awesome part. at some point, team having streaks get tired cuz every team give them their best and it's always a little team that come and stop the streak. pacers streak not a big deal, people already forgot that. u get proud cuz they're stopping streak? how bout they start doing streak if they're that awesome? :derp
Last season, nobody cares :gtfo

the east suck...
A lot of bad teams and some good teams who just can't get their shit together
And I feel bad for Rose, I don't like him, but knee injuries aren't funny... All the process of rehab, and having to it again
A didn't have my surgery yet and I'm already tired of thinking about the long months

They'd be even better if Beal could get a more efficient shooting. Around 40% isn't something you'd like to get out of him since he's #1 option in offense.
That said, he can still turn into a lethal volume scorer one day, so, that backcourt might turn into something formidable. Add in Otto Porter and they have a pretty solid young core.
They can make the play-offs with East in this state. Under normal circumstances, ending up in lottery would be more beneficial in the long term, but the upcoming draft is considered one of the deepest, so, it might not hurt the confidence of youngsters to get some success under their belt.

He started the season cold, but has been shooting better lately. He is primarily an outside shooter, he's never going to have a FG% over fifty. His game is similar to Rip Hamilton or Ray Allen. He'll take it to the rim, but primarily he is going to curl off screens, and hit open jumpers.

Otto Porter might be good, if he ever plays :p

Everyone gets fired if they don't make the playoffs. Leonsis pretty much hinted at that over the summer. This team is too talented to pick high in the lottery. Even if they do not make the playoffs, they are not going to pick high enough to draft an impact player. This draft may be deep, but it probably will still take a top five pick to land a franchise caliber player. The Wizards traded a top 12 protected pick for Gortat (who has played well), they would need to have had a pretty horrible season to keep their pick. Gortat is better than anyone they could have drafted between 14 - 30. The top three in this draft are the best I can remember, probably since Lebron, Mello, Bosh, Wade in 2003. The Wizards won't draft that high without some catastrophic injuries.

As a Heat fan i don't like the Bulls and Rose but as a basketball fan i feel bad for Rose, no athlete deserve that. back to back injuries and 2 whole season without playing. He's pretty much done now. sad to see a career ruined like that, he's walking in the steps of Brandon roy

It isn't that serious... he didn't take his whole meniscus off, like Roy did
the ACL injury was worse, the whole problem with it is the 2 years without basketball... he could be improving his game, gaining more experience. Now he'll be just sitting there.
The the psychological factor is also a problem... to blew your knee 2 times, what eill be going on his mind when the take the court again...
that's shitty

Excuses excuses. Stopping a streak is awesome, even though continuing the streak is better. It's okay to be sad that the Bulls ruined your precious Heat's streak last year.

Bah, can't believe Rose is out again. Even if he can return for hte playoffs, I see him skipping it again. Probably a good choice, given that he didn't continue to do well when he returned. I haven't seen the Heat play much, but I hope they're letting Andersen shine. Can't believe they let Mike Miller go though, he was a great asset for the Heat. Or that Nate Robinson was waived by the Bulls, he looked made for the Bulls.

Dunno, but they were closer to their full potential and ended the Heat's streak. That should say something. :heh

LeBron needs to go to the worst team possible. In fact, all teams should have max 2 good or great players. A lot of my friends stopped watching NBA because it's too predictable now, with few teams having great players and the rest having average to good players. I'd actually like to see LeBron play for someone like the Jazz or Bobcats, see how many wins he gives them.

lebron played for Cleveland long enough. one of the worst team he still carried them to the final. in fact good players playing for horrible team and organization is bad, cuz it's dragging them down. the NBA always been like that, few team competing among themselves at the top and the rest being there just for the numbers.west being good and east garbage collector with only 2,3 teams standing out. nothing changed mate. it was all about lakers and celtics before, at least now those 2 ain't winning shit anymore. the bulls had their 2x triplets now that the heat have their first back to back in their franchise history suddenly everyone seems to have complains lol. if your friend stopped to watch the NBA now then i don't know what he was watching before cuz it's all the same, it's just different team that are packed.

Actually, there were more great players spread evenly.

Jordan played for the Bulls
Barkley played for the Suns
Ewing played for the Knicks
O'Neal and Bryant played for the Lakers, O'Neal played for Magic before that
Reggie Miller for the Pacers
and many more that I dunno right now.

Now, you have LeBron, Wade, and Bosh playing for the Heat, Duncan, Parker, and Ginobili playing for the Spurs, Garnett, Pierce, and Deron playing for the Nets, Westbrook and Durant playing for the Thunder, Harden and Howard playing for the Rockets, and who else? Either way, it'd be more fun to see LeBron play for a crappy team. He'd definitely help even the Knicks' chances of possibly making it to the playoffs, hypothetically.

No doubt the Heat are good, I'm not saying they're not. Wade, LeBron, Ray, Bosh, and Andersen are great players, with LeBron possibly one of the best of this era. Though they may have won the playoffs twice in some suspicious manners, they still got as far as they did and were successful because of the talent.

The problem is there are too many teams. Unless they actually go forward with retraction some day, we'll have a ton of garbage teams. Either that, or more international players will have to come and join the league.

That is a little bit off. Shaq and Kobe played together later, after the others were past there prime, or retired. Their prime was the early 2000's, the rest peaked in the early to mid 90's. Shaq in Orlando was a little like Lebron in Cleveland. He was so great that he made them a contender. Those Magic teams were a little better (but not much) than Leborn's Cleveland teams, until Penny Hardaway got hurt.

Scav is right, the NBA historically has been dominated by a small number of franchises at a time. The Celtics and Lakers teams from the 80's (golden age of the NBA) were built just like the Heat. The Celtics had Bird, Kevin Mchale, and Robert Parish. The Lakers had Magic, Kareem, and James Worthy. That is six of the 50 greatest players ever on two teams. If you look at any era, going back to the 60's, only four or five teams at a time really contend. The era with the most parity, the 70's, was also the worst era in NBA history. That was the time, before Magic and Bird, that the NBA finals were aired on tape delay.

What about the 90s? NBA still had a lot more different teams with great players than they do now. Rockets, Bulls, Lakers (?), Magic, Pistons, Knicks, Heat.. I don't know much about NBA back then though.

Jordan was in his prime during the 90's. The Bulls dominated everyone, except during Jordan's retirements. It wasn't even close. The Knicks, Pacers, Sonics, and Jazz were consistent contenders, but could never get past Jordan. The Rockets took advantage of Jordan's first retirement, but were not consistent contenders throughout the decade. There were other good teams, some made deep play off runs, but they were not dominant teams.

The Lakers were not that good during the 90's. They usually made the play-offs, but as mid, or low, seeds. They did not become contenders again until they signed Shaq, in the late 90's. The Pistons were more of an 80's team, they were past their prime by the early 90's. The Heat were a solid team after Riley took over, in the mid to late 90's, but they were never a great team. Watching the Knicks and Heat back then was agony. Slow, defense oriented basketball. The NBA changed the rules because of them, eliminating hand checking. Jordan would average 50 a game if he played now. The Sonics were the best during the 90's. Everyone seems to have forgotten those teams. Shawn Kemp and Gary Payton were awesome together.
