Re: NBA thread

Lebron is doing all he can to get his team to the playoffs, actually he is carrying them there on his own back. He is gonna have the scoring title and he was the all star game MVP already so I think he deserves to be MVP. Chris Paul is also a great candidate who is having a monster season and leading his team but Lebron is the better player and he is more valuable to the Cavs in every way. It is hard for me to admit this because CP3 is my second favorite player behind Allen Iverson but Lebron desevres the award this year.

Re: NBA thread

Kobe had the all-star mvp last year and he carried the team himself to,that happened the year before that.I dont know, who will be mvp,it doesnt depend on me,ill wait camly, but in my book the one who deserves it more then anyone else is Kobe Bryant.

Re: NBA thread

We can disagree about MVP forever but when it comes down to it all 3 of the players mostly mentioned in this discusion are all gonna be first team all NBA and are all deserving of MVP. All we can do is just wait and see.

Re: NBA thread

just goes to show how lebron is the only one holding his team up. the cavs wont win that way all the time. frankly tho if kobe wants to go on fire in the 4th, no doubt. a walking scoring binge. this guy is amazing this season, he's actually holding back his binges for the team. holding back. too much, just like how lebron actually flies down to finish a slam

Re: NBA thread

It's a close race, no doubt..in the end, it's all subjective.

Lebron is great, but you have to take all things into perspective..

- Between Lakers and Cleveland Cavs, Lakers are the better team.

- The Eastern Conference is a joke compared to the West, just look at the number 8th spot in the West....it's ridiculous!

- Kobe plays significantly better in defense. Right now, he's playing at an NBA All-Defensive First Team caliber, and in the past, he's been selected for this award 7 times....5 First Team selections, and 2 Second Team selections.

Lebron has never made this list.

- here are the season stats comparison:

Lebron: 30.3 PPG, 8.10 RPG, 7.5 APG, 48.6 FG%, 70.9 FT%, 40.5 minutes per game
Kobe: 28.2 PPG, 6.10 RPG, 5.4 APG, 46.6 FG%, 84.3 FT%, 38.4 minutes per game

Although Lebron's stats is better than Kobe's in almost all categories by a difference of roughly 2 points margin, notice that Lebron plays roughly 2 minutes more than Kobe.

Imagine if Kobe plays just an extra 2 minutes longer, I'm sure he can put up an extra 2 points, probably 1 rebound, 1 assist, and their stats will be much closer than you'd think.

so without question, Lebron is the better individual player.

But Kobe's team is championship caliber, and so I think you also need to take that into account.

did I mention he plays way better defense?

Re: NBA thread

His defense isn't way better. They are both very capable defenders. Not that stats are everything but they even average the same amount of steals. Kobe is a great defender but he isn't way better than Lebron. Kobe's team is champoinship calibur because they have a hall of fame coach and 2 yes 2 all star level players on their team. Lebron and the Cavs are improving after the trade the cavs have made and their record will continue to improve.

Re: NBA thread

steals is just one facet of defense, but that's not all.

Kobe is considered one of the best one-on-one defensive players of his generation....he has the ability to slow down even the most aggressive offensive players in the league.

the same cannot be said about Lebron James, and thus it is why he has never gotten the NBA All-Defensive selection, not once. Not even Second Team (only the top-ten best defensive players each year gets to make the roster, btw).

Lebron is a decent defensive player, but he is not even close compared to Kobe.

You speak the truth Kobe has been named all defensive 1st team before. He can play D with the best of them buts its not like Lebron cant . Either way we still got a long way to go before the season is over.

Wow i feel so sad talking about these MVP candidates and these playoff bound teams when my team is so garbage. Hey atleast we have a chance at getting Micheal Beasly in the draft, oh wait almost forgot about the lottery. Ahhh mannnnnnn!

Re: NBA thread

I'm a bit biased, of course, since I'm a Kobe fan..

but seriously though....look at Kobe's stats two seasons ago, and compare it with Nash...

and now look at Lebron this year, and compare it with how Kobe lost to Nash two seasons ago.

see the similarities? I believe Kobe averaged 35 points in that season.......but still lost to Nash.

Re: NBA thread

The Pistons are having a quiet season, yet when you look at their record, it's quite impressive. I think it's because Boston is hogging the spotlight in the East.

however, Boston defeated the Pistons today...Boston clinched a playoff berth. If they keep this up, considering they're playing without KG, I don't think there's anyone who're likely to beat them, except maybe the Spurs, or Lakers (if Bynum comes back).

[edit] oh wait, nevermind, KG came back, and he played well.
