The French magazine "Le Point" has published an article on Tabata and Black Clover, where several things are revealed:

- Tabata started working at 20, as an assistant and had to wait 7 years for the chance to write a manga all of his own.
- Black Clover is a Fantasy manga because Tabata loves this genre.
- Tabata: "I wanted to make a manga like Berserk, but shonen, either for his sets, his battles or his story, this series remains an important source of inspiration for me, I wanted a manga with this spirit, but in shonen style. "
- Tabata on Fantasy: "it's a genre that I love in movies and manga, I really like Dragon Quest: the adventure of Dai, the Lord of the Rings, the cinema of Guglielmo del Toro and Harry Potter. Black Clover, I investigate books for scenarios and universes, and documenting weapons, clothes and buildings is an essential aspect of my work ".
- Tabata likes to write the script and draw battle scenes. He likes to magnify his characters' movements to make his sequences dynamic. "I am also forced to quote Dragon Ball, which was another source of inspiration to dominate the movements of the characters.Akira Toriyama was able to draw fights in various corners that have always impressed me."
- Tabata: "Asta is based on myself, I wanted to create oppositions among the protagonists, so they are so different."
- Tabata's favorite character is Charmy. "I enjoy drawing my wife on one sleeve, she coordinates the wellbeing of the team by drawing almost every day in her living room."
