now you said willaim recognized asta's grimiore. From what i've read I believe nobody ever recognized or knows anything about his grimiore except us readers from the fourth wall/dimension

can you please attach the page link or chapter where willaim recognized asta's grimiore i don't recall reading it thanks

i think he was surprised by the grimiore's broken down state and how it relates to the old story of an emperor taking down a demon king from long ago

Maybe? William is the most mysterious character in the series (in my opinion) so he may have recognized it - the reason as to why is a mystery because not even Julius recognized it. But he also may have found it similar to something he'd heard about before...

Or the worst case scenario; he's Licht.

hmm his magic is actually absorbing other people's magic so essentially against Asta he's totally destroyed because he can't absorb any magic from William technically Asta is a natural enemy of William and his complete opposite.

now the shadow guy that copies other people's grimiore during the fight with Yami technically this magic is similar to that i mean is all william doing is simply absorbing the magic or also stealing the ability as well ??

hehe there was also a reference to the fairy tail manga as well once the tree came up

Yuno, Rangils, and William OP! This chapter was nice, did its job of showcasing how powerful members of Golden Dawn are.

William's magic really interests me now, I like the absorbing aspect so it's not just all his mana to accomplish that tree spell. I bet he can do it with his own but why do that what when everyone around you is a power source.

Rangils magic is just scary, wipes you out of existence, well just sends parts of your somewhere else but sill..

And Yuno with that back talk holding his own against the generals, this fight already looks over, but surely knowing Black Clover its just beginning.

Yes! Yuno, Rangils and William are indeed OP.

William's ability just here brings me hope he isn't Licht. He shows absorbing mana, wanting to protect Clover (going out of his way for it too) and a spell that seems like something Licht couldn't pull off. Yggdrasil is interesting and that's another connection to the 'Norse Mythology' this series has. I'm rather enjoying the mythology that's being brought in here, it's fun to look it up and learn about it. (: The people he snagged as the tree was appearing... mana source? Or just taken the hostage/prisoner. Also, in ch.77 - please don't have that one line at the end with the same (similar) expression. You're being a huge tease William.

Now... Rangils - I am sooooo glad he is nothing like Finral. No wonder he's 2nd in command at such a young age. He did show a bit of a dark side here and I love it. Now let's sit back and wait for the Finral and Rangils reunion.

And I am disappointed... like out of all the names Sylph could've gotten; she got Bell. Freaken Bell... *cough*Tinkerbell*cough*.

All in all, the chapter was good - but I have hopes next week will be better. (Come on William)

EDIT: Damn, people are bring up Naruto comparisons here... But - did Hashirama ever create a giant ass tree? I dont remember that.

Haha No Hashirama never created a giant ass tree, he created a Village and an entire forest tho. Obito created the giant 10 tails tree, ironic considering Obito was a masked man just like William XD.

Jokes aside yeah I don't care for the name Bell. I have nothing against Tinkerbell, but I would even stick with Slyph as a name before I picked that. But Yuno seems to be based on Peter Pan. Lost orphaned boy who can fly thanks to his sassy fairy, that also has a crush on him and is possesive. All he needs now is his own Captain Hook.

There is no power structure in this manga and who his magic book is rarer and stronger , is the ultimate winner ....

Sorry, but you're really reading this manga or you just look to the images? first of all, you're comparing series like if all battle shounens needs to have the same power level since the beginning, doesn't work like that, some series has low power level in the beginning, others have higher, and is woking perfectly in Black Clover.

No, the universe isn't small, is very big, we only know so far about two kingdoms in the entire world. Also, Asta always win? you're really reading this manga? Asta has been losing a lot of battles in these 76 chapters, even in the last arc he wasn't able to really defeat Vetto, was Yami!

And no, Black Clover will not be canceled anytime soon, is very popular, sells well and is getting a OVA in Jump Festa and obviously will getting a tv adaptation next year. Sorry.

Funny that you think that what's matter in the battles of Black Clover is the grimoire, clearly shows how you not even understand the manga and how the battle and magic structure works.

the never give up attitude is a good attitude to have and one that is needed to succeed in any life an in any world whether it be real-life here or in any manga or dc or marvel or anime universe. That is necessary to succeed or win. Now as for power levels its perfectly fine and as for his girimirore it has potential but he needs more weapons and techniques before he will be able to be a threat and be a real OP character

And just like naruto , he doesn't have any Nobel reason for being hokage other than

Never give up motto is meaningless because he has most haxed and unique power in story and probably he is from superior race as well ( just like naruto )

I get that this your opinion; but you pretty much just bashed on the series here. Of course people are going to comment/attack you for it.

I'm not gonna argue; I get that people think this is a "Naruto clone" - I personally don't see it. Sure, it gives off the vibes - but what shounen doesn't. It's typical for a main character to have goals, have an undying will to never give up, etc. So what do you expect?

This manga is part of the new era of WSJ, so there is no avoiding it being compared to older series from this magazine. But I just wish people would stop with the annoying 'it's a clone'. Black Clover is starting become its own series.

Though I have to agree with above comments... are you even reading this series properly? His anti-magic isn't even that much of a hack. He needs a lot of help to fight enemies, if he was doing it on his own he would've died back in the dungeon arc...

the way i look at it is clone or not it doesn't matter just enjoy the manga and have a good blast naruto wasn't a bad manga though pushed too far and same here just enjoy it it may get more interesting at the end or it may not who cares just enjoy reading it

Naruto's character was a Luffy clone but I don't remember you crying about it.

I don't agree this is anything like Naruto I mean for 1 it's not annoying. This manga is more like early not annoying FT if I'm honest, Asta is an MC who took the best character parts from different MC's, though it is pretty stupid of the writer to not have given us any information about Astars book, the enemy has said something about it so many times heck it's a 1 of a kind and no 1 close to Astar has tried to find out about it ever for a 100 chapters, this now leads me to believe the author has no clue what he wants to develop with this and if this issue is not addressed soon or at least hi tshego given I'm seriously going to start disliking this story with now way forward

I'm excited to see William in action. I don't know why, but he reminds me of Griffith from Berserk, doesn't inspire any trust.

About Black Clover in general, we can notice "influences" like Naruto, Bleach, Nanatsu no Taizai, Fairy Tail, Magi... still, it's good. I agree that Asta needs to be developed. But I'm enjoying the manga.
