Ok, I thought of something: Sling sling fruit. A paramecia fruit which allowed ussop to turn himself or his limbs into slingshots. Sounds like the most practical fruit he could get to suit his skillset.

I have read "For years, countless fan theories were created to explain how Devil Fruits work. One theory developed by CAMUNAI explains that the properties of Devil Fruits are centered around electromagnetic waves. The theory uses the science behind electromagnetism to explain how Devil Fruits work, as well as their weaknesses to water, Sea-Prism Stone and Armament Haki. To summarize, water, composed of polar molecules, absorbs the electromagnetic waves of Devil Fruit users which weakens them. Likewise, Sea-Prism stone supposedly shares similar properties. It even manages to explain how Armament Haki affects Devil Fruit users thanks to a phenomenon known as “black body”, where a body or object absorbs electromagnetic radiation." What do you guys think about this?

The part where the water displaces or absorbs the electric signals in a human body due to the water being at odds of the devil fruits...that might actually work. Our body is constantly trying to keep itself in a healthy equilibrium and in colder or hotter situations will expend energy to keep our body in that state...which is why we sweat or shiver. It is why we have to eat and drink during a marathon because once a nutrient gets too depleted our bodies just stop. The signals from our muscles to our cells stop connecting and you just crash, what runners and cyclists sometimes call "the wall". This is similar to people getting their energy sapped when locked in with seastones. So this theory makes sense to a point.

But delving a little deeper into biology we can surmise if seawater and seastones displaces the electric magnetic waves in a biological being then this theiry falls in on itself because if that were to be true, a devil fruit would not be able to grow itself from the tree. Period. Impossible. Trees on a molecular level like all life uses electrical signals to function much like animals since we all have eukaryotic cells. Hell even prokaryotic cells do it. So it is an ancient trait that goes all the down to atoms stripping itself of electrons and gaining electrons and as such, the tree will not be able to grow if such a system was tainted from the beginning. It's like asking for chemical bonds to not form.

The only way for this to work is if the electrical displacement is very specific, only fucking with certain ions in living animals. The main reason why this explanation isn't feasible either is because long story short, One Piece will not go into so much bio and sciency details. Instead there will likely be a more simple but supernatural explanation that Oda can satisfy all of us with.

Now the second thing about Blackbodies is even more absurd but funny that it is a theory that is being brought up because scientists just coated a diamond in the blackest material ever made absorbing over 99.99% of visible light. So without further ado here is a quick crash course on Blackbodies as I remembered it from my astronomy classes!

A blackbody is generally applied to cosmic shit like stars and black holes. They are real objects and we have them here too in our kitchen and whatnot. Black bodies generally absorb radiation but it then gives it back off in thermal radiation in a color reflecting its temperature. That is why your stove burners turns red when turned onto the high setting and also why stars shine in their different colors. Black holes in interstellar space are almost perfect blackbodies in that they absorb ALL radiation and since their gravity is so OP they give nothing back besides gravitational waves and as such we cannot even see them directly (well until recently anyways). But wait they actually do give off radiation over time when left alone in a phenomenon known as Hawkins Radiation but that is a story for another time.

So how in the world can any Haki user besides Blackbeard even become a black body? They cannot...you cannot just turn jet black lol. One of the main arguments against this isn't even the whole science behind Blackbodies. It is because CoA haki is still debated if it actually make the user go black. Very hotly debated. There are evidence that it is shown as black to show an emphasis but they aren't truly black. But even if we supposed that Haki users does turn black, no one seems to be black enough to be a Black Body that can absorb radiation.

Finally, the Blackbody idea incorporated into Haki just hits a brick wall that it cannot get past and that is base users who also has dfs. If Armament turns you into a Blackbody and you hit another logia df user and make them tangible by stealing away electrons from their df bodies, then...I mean let's take a step back here lol. Logically speaking, wouldn't that also be extremely more detrimental to yourself if you yourself is a df user? Luffy would never be able to use Gear 4th if this is true.

So tl;dl version, these theories are not viable. Oda will give us much less sciency explanations too but damn knowing the science behind electromagnetic waves and blackbodies are very fun. Everyone should take at least astronomy 101 hehehehe. I was never that straight A student so please correct me if I inaccurately described some of these things but I think I got the gist of it.

OP is most likely correct, but you can't solve it with science alone. It all has something to do with the Saturn and one of its moons (as the Ancient weapons are named after planets, but take their powers from their moon.) I won't tell you which one though, or maybe I do...
Okay I will! Riddle time again! The moon I am talking about is the "Lord of the Sea", but not actually, only in fiction...
You will likely never get a proper explanation in the Manga like this as it is occult and relates to conspiracy theories. A guy named Zagrash on Oro Jackson could explain this magnet field stuff, which in the end is a Universe/Tree (and as such a snake) better than me as I am more into history and thus comparative mythology rather than occultism and esoterics. But Oro Jackson disappeared just when I was able to unravel everything. Damn!

sure, electromagnetism.... sounds complicated enough to throw into anyhting..... NO!!!!

and what do you mean the sea is its weakness? Sea water is a great conductor, so rather quite the opposite.

Actually the Ancient Weapons are named after gods (and none is named Saturn but it is ez to get the planets mixed up lol) because the planets are named after deities. Pluton, Poseidon, and Uranus (pronounced yuran - as for those whole are still saying it wrong xD) with Poseidon being Shirahoshi. This is Ironic because in Roman, Poseidon is named Neptune (like the planet) and Shirahoshi's father is named King Neptune. While all these planets (except Pluto isn't a planet anymore!) all have moons, I fail to see how the mythologies will connect the moons to the ancient weapons in any symbolic way. Also, OP here was talking about electromagnetic waves which these planets all have except for Pluto. It is still inconclusive as to if Pluto has a magnetic field. When New Horizon did its flyby in 2015 it detected a weak atmosphere but from all previous measurements, Pluto is probably too small and rotates too slowly to produce a meaningful electromagnetic field. From such conclusions, I can probably predict that the ancient weapons probably do not use electromagnetic fields either...I mean we even have proof. Like literally. Shirahoshi doesn't emit light, instead she is a crybaby and uses soundwaves instead. And when she does it right Sea Kings comes to her rescue! This actually have some science to back it up because soundwaves moves 4 x as fast underwater because water molecules are more tightly packed and the vibrations gets passed on to the next atom that much quicker. So Sea Kings will come to her aid sooner. Aside from the electricity being transmitted in her own cells, I doubt she can release any electromagnetic radiation. She isn't even bioluminescent like so many other sea creatures of the deep.

These are actually really fun theories but if you know enough about astrophysics, these theories hit a brick wall pretty quick. Especially the Blackbody part just makes very little sense to me. You cannot instantly turn yourself into one by covering yourself in Haki. And if you could, you will die of heat exhaustion and likely melt because Blackbodies absorb all radiation. I'm not trying to be an asshole but honestly these theories sounds like someone who read a One Piece and googled some brief science on wikipedia and go oh okay this makes sense but no, not if you account for the other sciences not in a wikipedia article then it stop making sense. An article can only give you so much proficiency in a subject vs actually doing and observing the science which can actually be Very VERY difficult. But Astronomy 101 is a very rewarding class once you get past the aristotle and plato philosophy bs. I recommend it. Hell, I would go back to take some astronomy classes if I had some free time.

Well I thought they were named after the gods before I realized the connections between the Straw Hat and Saturn.
Then it all made sense to me. If they were really named after the gods, the names would have been Pluton, Poseidon and Zeus, but it is Uranos (which only is pronounced yuran in englisch, and englisch pronounces every loanword wrong). Pluto, Neptune (gr. Poseidon) and Uranos are the outermost Planets of the solar system.

Now about their powers, linking Poseidon to the Greek God of the same name still works but even here the moons fit better. Poseidon is not a Merman/Mermaid, his Son Triton and the Nereids are though, and Triton is said to have had the ability to command Sea Creatures.

Pluto however has nothing to do with ships, his moon, Charon though is a ferryman. The ship or rather boat that appears in stories related to Hades is Charon's ferry. And Charon is Pluto's Moon.

Now we haven't see Uranos but I am 100% sure that the Straw Hat is Saturn because Saturn is associated with the Devil (which is wrong but still something people do since ancient times). Saturn has a very special relationship with one of its moons, which is also the source of conspiracy theories relating to electromagnetic waves.

So only the Saturn needs to be related to elektromagnetism as he is the Devil. You don't need knowledge about Astrophysics, because this is all related to Astrology, it is not science, it is weird esoteric and occultism. Also if some small parts don't match it doesn't mean it can't be true. Roronoa Zoro also doesn't share much with Francois L'Ollonais, aside from both being Pirates accredited with bloodthirst. We never chose names based on logic, especially not in stories, we do so because of our feelings, which is the same reason why the planets are named after the Gods.

If you are still not convinced, Chopper even said the Rumble Ball alters the wavelength of his DF.

If you think "but that's pseudo-science wh would Oda do that"... Well Oda seems to be into this stuff. Watch his reply in an SBS or interview regarding Sanji's initial name Naruto, Oda gives a very weird cryptic answer. Oda is also friends with Hiroyuki Takei, both worked together as assistants on Rurouni Kenshin and in an interview when he was asked which Mangaka he respects he answered Takei. Takei's main work, Shaman King is full of esoterics and occultism...

Btw I also think that at one point in the past there was a fifth antique weapon named Jupiter, and it is a spaceship and the source for how Enel built the Arc Maxim. Again the moons provided the clue, and via them I found out a possible origin of the name Shandia, which has absolutely nothing to do with Mayans but with Crete. But that one is still to tinfoily to publish...

If this ends up being true then it would make awakened Kidd the most broken character in the series next to Law.

????

This series, and many other Shonens, are full of what you would call pseudo-science. Anytime there's some explanation to magic abilities, it's pseudo-science.
Blackbeard gravity ability is the most obvious example I can think of now.

And of course the pseudo-scientific logic only makes the lore more interesting...

Maybe my personal biasness is getting in the way. Personally I think Astrology is downright false and maybe that's why I don't or maybe can't believe in the theory. The evidence is there like rumble balls but in the end those are drugs. I smoke weed and that alters some things in me as well as when I drink which isn't very often.

The 3 ancient weapons were always in the background of the One Piece world. If they channel their powers through their moons why haven't those ever been mentioned? You can't say oh because it is shrouded in mystery so people do not know because everything is shrouded in mystery in One Piece.

The way you explain Saturn can make sense but at this point the theory is overthinking it. The story never talked about Saturn and if the Strawhats truly is an ancient weapon reincarnate then what would that make the Roger Pirates? And if that was true I would assume Roger wold have discovered what is crew was. If Saturn was a thing then he can hear the collective voice of his whole crew maybe ship spirit included say to him, hey we make up Saturn. And there would be clues to that in Rayleigh, Shanks and even Buggy. But nope they were just an exceptional pirate crew like the Strawhats.

And then there is the special relationship with their moons. Every planet has a special relationship with their moons. It is such a general statement it can be applied to so many objects in the sky it doesn't work. Hydra is also one of Pluto's moons but we cannot say Orochi is the reincarnate. See, if the Strawhats were Saturn then where is the mention of Titan? I'll even help add to your theory because I feel it is that easy to keep adding to it since it is so fictional to me. According to these theories that is based on Astrology, shouldn't the Strawhats be more aptly be Jupiter the ancient weapons since Jupiter is like the counterpart to Zeus for the Romans as well as Jupiter's relation to the term "jovial" which means happy or "MERRY" and as such Jupiter also has a strong relationship with Ganymede, it's biggest moon. You see, if the Strawhats is an ancient weapon reincarnate, they deserve to reincarnated into the strongest one right? But alas, I believe none of this. If you look hard enough you can find an infinite amount of signs in different astrology patterns and just apply it to One Piece. Doesn't make them right at all. In fact, numerous studies have shown astrology as complete bullshit and if you think stars and planets somehow have an impact on you personally, then you are super self centered and the news is, these astronomical bodies don't care about what we do. We care about them becuase we look up and go wow.

What I am trying to say is I don't think I can be convinced here. Also I don't believe in conspiracy theories so linking Saturn to it's moons to One Piece is pretty nonsensible to me. I refuse to believe the world is flat and other stupid shit like that. It may not be dumb af to others but my opinions are that they are a waste of my time.

Does anyone else think the reason why Blackbeard can use two Devil Fruits, is due to having his Lineage Factor tampered with or being a child of a person who has?

I had this thought after reading about Rocks delving into "Forbidden Knowledge".

I like the cerberus idea more. Of course being a triplet or actually 3 peoples in one is some kind of 'lineage factor' to me anyways. May not be the same LF you are talking about and introduced in the story.

the "lineage factor" is One Piece word for DNA.

I've read that, for what I understand it can help create Humans with powers without Devil Fruits. Is that to do with the Cerberus Idea/Theory?
