Actually the Ancient Weapons are named after gods (and none is named Saturn but it is ez to get the planets mixed up lol) because the planets are named after deities. Pluton, Poseidon, and Uranus (pronounced yuran - as for those whole are still saying it wrong xD) with Poseidon being Shirahoshi. This is Ironic because in Roman, Poseidon is named Neptune (like the planet) and Shirahoshi's father is named King Neptune. While all these planets (except Pluto isn't a planet anymore!) all have moons, I fail to see how the mythologies will connect the moons to the ancient weapons in any symbolic way. Also, OP here was talking about electromagnetic waves which these planets all have except for Pluto. It is still inconclusive as to if Pluto has a magnetic field. When New Horizon did its flyby in 2015 it detected a weak atmosphere but from all previous measurements, Pluto is probably too small and rotates too slowly to produce a meaningful electromagnetic field. From such conclusions, I can probably predict that the ancient weapons probably do not use electromagnetic fields either...I mean we even have proof. Like literally. Shirahoshi doesn't emit light, instead she is a crybaby and uses soundwaves instead. And when she does it right Sea Kings comes to her rescue! This actually have some science to back it up because soundwaves moves 4 x as fast underwater because water molecules are more tightly packed and the vibrations gets passed on to the next atom that much quicker. So Sea Kings will come to her aid sooner. Aside from the electricity being transmitted in her own cells, I doubt she can release any electromagnetic radiation. She isn't even bioluminescent like so many other sea creatures of the deep.
These are actually really fun theories but if you know enough about astrophysics, these theories hit a brick wall pretty quick. Especially the Blackbody part just makes very little sense to me. You cannot instantly turn yourself into one by covering yourself in Haki. And if you could, you will die of heat exhaustion and likely melt because Blackbodies absorb all radiation. I'm not trying to be an asshole but honestly these theories sounds like someone who read a One Piece and googled some brief science on wikipedia and go oh okay this makes sense but no, not if you account for the other sciences not in a wikipedia article then it stop making sense. An article can only give you so much proficiency in a subject vs actually doing and observing the science which can actually be Very VERY difficult. But Astronomy 101 is a very rewarding class once you get past the aristotle and plato philosophy bs. I recommend it. Hell, I would go back to take some astronomy classes if I had some free time.
Well I thought they were named after the gods before I realized the connections between the Straw Hat and Saturn.
Then it all made sense to me. If they were really named after the gods, the names would have been Pluton, Poseidon and Zeus, but it is Uranos (which only is pronounced yuran in englisch, and englisch pronounces every loanword wrong). Pluto, Neptune (gr. Poseidon) and Uranos are the outermost Planets of the solar system.
Now about their powers, linking Poseidon to the Greek God of the same name still works but even here the moons fit better. Poseidon is not a Merman/Mermaid, his Son Triton and the Nereids are though, and Triton is said to have had the ability to command Sea Creatures.
Pluto however has nothing to do with ships, his moon, Charon though is a ferryman. The ship or rather boat that appears in stories related to Hades is Charon's ferry. And Charon is Pluto's Moon.
Now we haven't see Uranos but I am 100% sure that the Straw Hat is Saturn because Saturn is associated with the Devil (which is wrong but still something people do since ancient times). Saturn has a very special relationship with one of its moons, which is also the source of conspiracy theories relating to electromagnetic waves.
So only the Saturn needs to be related to elektromagnetism as he is the Devil. You don't need knowledge about Astrophysics, because this is all related to Astrology, it is not science, it is weird esoteric and occultism. Also if some small parts don't match it doesn't mean it can't be true. Roronoa Zoro also doesn't share much with Francois L'Ollonais, aside from both being Pirates accredited with bloodthirst. We never chose names based on logic, especially not in stories, we do so because of our feelings, which is the same reason why the planets are named after the Gods.
If you are still not convinced, Chopper even said the Rumble Ball alters the wavelength of his DF.
If you think "but that's pseudo-science wh would Oda do that"... Well Oda seems to be into this stuff. Watch his reply in an SBS or interview regarding Sanji's initial name Naruto, Oda gives a very weird cryptic answer. Oda is also friends with Hiroyuki Takei, both worked together as assistants on Rurouni Kenshin and in an interview when he was asked which Mangaka he respects he answered Takei. Takei's main work, Shaman King is full of esoterics and occultism...
Btw I also think that at one point in the past there was a fifth antique weapon named Jupiter, and it is a spaceship and the source for how Enel built the Arc Maxim. Again the moons provided the clue, and via them I found out a possible origin of the name Shandia, which has absolutely nothing to do with Mayans but with Crete. But that one is still to tinfoily to publish...
