Yeah. I thought it was nice. I just bought one on ebay yesterday, but it won't be here for a while.

I tend to like the extra stuff they do with DGM. Some of the trading cards were silly once you put them together.

Like this one.

Yeah. I am happ Cross looks nice. Hopefully it won't be a reverse of Lenalee where he looks nice in the promo art, and derpy constantly in the anime. Like Bleach. Ruined one of my favorites when he was finally animated, and that ruined the excitement, and it last the entire arc. Cross won't be around long, or appear anytime soon anyhow, but I still prefer non-derpy. lol

Here's the other half of the art.

These guys look good, except Allen -looking too babyish. But the art is nice. Lavi's style is different, and may take getting used to, but still looking nicely. The different style makes him look older -same for Kanda

I think Allen looks pretty good though.... I mean, weren't his eyes also big in the previous anime season?

I don't think Allen looked 10 in the last anime like he does here. lol

He looks slightly more mature in the previous anime -pretty much like a teenage guy. In Hallow....eh. His eyes are even more round, which makes him look younger, and the hairstyle also has a look to it that makes him look younger, in combination with his face, which also seems more round, adding to the little boy look.

Same with Cross actually. He looks younger and more boyish compared to his previous anime self. He doesn't look bad though.. But Allen eh....

I have a feeling that the anime is going to have extremely unstable art just like the manga
It depends on the animators though. After all, those promotion arts are quite good (only Lenalee's nose gets messed up)

Well that's nothing new. I guess for Japan, maybe it's a thing where characters aren't allowed to be shown wearing a crucifix' Cross' necklace was never one, except one instance, in the old anime, or merchandise

The censorship in the previous anime extended far beyond that. Cross Marian wasn't the only one; Sammo Han Won, Tiedoll, Renny, the head nurse, and a few others also wore crosses or rosaries that were edited out, though some kept the beaded necklace but without anything at the bottom. Crosses were also edited out of architecture, like the hospital where Allen met Lavi, or in the windows of ?Krory's? sickroom during the Order invasion, or the top of the tower in Noah's Ark. Cross-shaped gravestones were changed to rectangular ones, for example with Mana's, or ones appearing in Allen's odd-artstyle dream with a huge crescent moon and the figure that grabs him. Some other crosses (symbolizing Innocence) were altered when Bak discusses parasitic and equip-types to Allen. Those are a few examples.

The whole part with Marc and Claire in the early episodes was altered, as is the nature of Mother's house (though it was only described in the Reverse novel, and its appearance in the manga is much later). Every early reference to the Vatican founding and overseeing the Order was removed, including that Jan's father worked there, and how the Rose Crosses on their uniforms enabled them to get access to various places in the name of the Vatican. (That came up on the train to Mater). Later on when Lvellie appeared, the anime altered his and Komui's lines, among other things replacing references to the Pope. Occasionally "cross" itself (juujika) was removed from dialogue. Despite that, some cross visuals were allowed to stay, including some on the uniforms, Socalo's helmet, and the like. They just cut down on the amount, and removed all references to the Vatican and Pope. Occasional references to being a "clergyman" were allowed to stay in.

D.Gray-man Hallow's new art shows Cross Marian without the cross at the end of his necklace, and in the recent Nico-Live promotional video (18:22 out of 74:14 on the upload at Bilibili), Komui's new voice actor recites a line from chapter 164 (page 9) where the first few words "to this cross" (kono juujika no moto ni, p.63 of JN vol 17) are not included. Was that for space, or another dialogue alteration? I don't care as much about keeping every last crucifix in, but if they continue the trend of the first anime, I imagine the Order's connection to the Vatican and Pope's authority will remain unspoken. But what then about the Cardinal? Will he become a bureaucrat or something? /s

Seems odd, since I do recall seeing crosses on occasion. But I wasn't aware of all that, as I didn't even watch all of the anime. I wasn't crazy about what it did with Cross. Reminds me of Elfen Lied's anime, which was not good. lol And that anime messed up my favorite character there too.

Anyhow, I asked on another site. The answer I got was

It depends on who ended up doing the translation and for what country. Some other Asian countries object to Christian symbols in animation. I should mention that in the last 25 years there have been a few instances where the Japanese media has gotten complaints from Christians both inside the country and outside for just portraying Crucifixes and christian images as just decoration and in inappropriate situations.

So I guess just goes unused due to the sensitivity of people. Even in regular cartoons here, stuff gets taken out. They have edited old Bugs Bunny cartoons. lol
