This might have been addressed but do you think this series will have any filler episodes? I've been slowly rematching the 2006 series and I noticed there are a lot of filler episodes. I noticed that a lot of anime ends up having filler episodes that aren't part of the original series.. Do we also know if Miss Hoshino will have any influence on this version? I apologize if this has already been addressed..

Depends, if it's one cour, there won't be any filler. If it's two cours, there will.

Darn. It's better than nothing, but still a bummer, as I was looking forward to later chapters animated. Unless these 13 episodes are over an hour a piece lol Though I doubt it. So, it's probably gonna be rushed, like Inuyasha TFA.

Those are designs for Allen Crown Clown version right because I can't imagine him look like that the entire anime

Even the other characters look great. I'm not sure I dig the yellow hue they are applying to Wiseley's hair and the level 4 but the drawings still looks generally good. I also don't fancy the fact that the star on the level 4's stomach is bright gold. It just seems like an overkill of the colour (think red would have been better for the belly star). I think they got Fidora's hair colour correct to cannon but I would have actually preferred if his hair was either purple or just red (think those seem more poisonous as colours). Regardless everything looks great with huge improvements for Lenalee and Cross.

I agree with you about Wisely's hair color. I'm not a fan of the yellowing shade. Imo, they should've just left it as white even if it clashed with Allen. Cuz now it doesn't even look blonde (like Jasdero's hair); it looks lemon-y.

Regarding the Level 4, I prefered the plain monochrome combo used in the second season. Here, it kinda looks like they are trying to add unnecessary color to the series in general.

And, I've also always pictured Fidora with purple hair - but I think that might be due to a colorization I saw on tumblr. And I guess technically purple is already taken by Road...

At the risk of sounding racist, the thing that bothers me the most is the Noah skin color in the poster. Though, once again, I think that might be just to make them stand out against the gray/blue hued background.

I prefer the monochrome as well but after rethinking I realized that some of these choices could be due to Hoshino' involvement. In he previous anime I don't think that all the colour selections were accurate to cannon (for example Allen's sword, claw and mask the gold in their colour scheme was not included). Given that Hoshino is working closely with them for this one I can see if she was perhaps the one who wanted the lvl 4 to be coloured that way especially as the design concept relates directly to Alma's appearance as was the intention. With that said however I still find the colour selection distracting especially the accursed golden belly star and the red gun tips
(a bit too clashing from my point of view almost like it belongs to jo jo's bizarre adventure).

Thee issue of the noah skin not being grey also bugs me somewhat but even looking at Hoshino's most recent colour pages it becomes increasingly apparent that it is meant to be brown (still refer the grey as it just seemed to make them more special and supernatural in appearance). I think Fidora's hair is also manga accurate but i'd have to recheck the section of the character book where Hoshino specified this (still like purple more though LOL).

dgm might be 13eps but drr! was like that too where only 12-13 eps where shown and then there was like a 2-3mo break and then it was back again (drr ketsu)...so maybe its a similar format?!

I doubt. There wasn't much adaption material to the begin with and the next major arc after Alma arc hasn't even finished.

Well, my hopes have been dashed. Having it only as 1-cour pretty much confirms the cut of the Zombie arc, which is a true shame because of the closure it provided to the Lee siblings and all the other fun stuff it contained. Fingers crossed for an OVA.

Seeing Timothy on the promo art confirms that his story will not be skipped, but in that case they will be hella pressed to fit two full arcs in 13 episodes (3, considering the importance of the HQ move arc, Allen's meeting with Cross, and the couple chapter set up we had before Alma's arc), not to mention all the character cameos they will undoubtably be putting in to keep people relevant.

Yeah, your concerns are very valid. I heard on tumblr the anime was gonna start with chapt. 165 with an episode entitled "The 14th." If that's true, then they skipped 8 chapters of stuff. But the trailer was everywhere. Some stuff I saw in the trailer, namely the Tyki part, seemed like it was from a chapter in the 180s.

But like Naruto and Bleach, I forget what chapters some stuff happens in after a while. But I do think it's 180s chapters. Maashiima is on the poster as well, and I recall him being with Tyki in those chapters. So they're gonna get from the 150s or 160s to the 180s in 13 episodes?

The poster indicates Cross will be in the anime, and his hug with Allen was shown in the teaser. But odd he's a character who hasn't been given a VA yet apparently. So, Lord knows.

So, we may have an Inuyasha: Final Act here, where they skip, rush and cram a ton of stuff. Same thing happened with The Lost Shinigami arc in Bleach where they wasted time on entire filler episodes, then cut off canon material and flashbacks for characters near the end of it.

Unless, wishful thinking, they are just starting with 13 episodes to see how people respond to the series. And if it does well, they will sign on to do many more episodes -like a pilot or 1st season of a new show.

The thing is, the selling and most advertised point of Hallow is Kanda's & Alma's backstory, which is 2.5+ arcs after where the first anime left off. The studio can't simply evade/ignore or end right before the most advertised piece. But that arc requires a lot of setup throughout the previous arcs, mostly because of the Thirds. I don't know what the hell possessed them to limit themselves so, but this does not bode well for the intricate character relationships within the series.

I'm just gonna stay in this corner and sulk.

Side note: That picture of Tyki is literally the only promo art I've liked so far! It's the only one that reflects Hoshino's new art style but maintains the clearness of the character design in the first 2 seasons. That picture in particular is either 187 or 188, when Tyki and Cyril attack the Allen, Madarao and Tokusa.

Side side note: I haven't seen any merch for Alma yet! What gives?

Spoiler: heavy words/ranting and similar stuff

First of all, here are minimum requirements for an original work to have more than 1 cour anime adaption:

-The original work has enough material
-The assigned studio either big or has enough budget if they are not Shaft/Kyoani (these two basically do whatever they want)

D.Gray-man Hallow fails to meet both requirements.

Second, filler won't do any justice. They are the worse things ever happened to the previous anime. Hoshino even never wanted the anime to continue due to all those change in the previous anime until she got convinced (source: Kosuge's interview). If the budget isn't that much to begin with (which has been clearly shown in the cast), it'd better be spent on taking care of the quality.

Third, Madoka is just 12 episodes at first and it's a masterpiece, meanwhile Fate UBW has serious pacing problems due to being 2 cours and you don't want the same thing happened to Sousei no Onmyouji happens to DGMH. 13 episodes is fine if the director is competent enough and D.Gray-man Hallow has that covered by Hoshino.

Final, more than half of those who is bitching about the 1 cour never think of buying BD/DVD even though THAT's one of the most crucial condition to get a series new adaption (though that's not really the case with DGM)

Though I also prefer two cours, this is understandable
