Those are great scans, thanks! I'm still hoping for scans of the entire volume, though... Some of the chapters that were scanned from Jump were really poor, so I always look forward to the volume scans to see the quality of the art.

Yeah, it would be nice to see the raws of Chapter 186 specifically. That was the chapter before Hoshino went on (yet another) hiatus, and it was really bad quality-wise. At first I thought it was the scanner that made it look mucky, but it turned out that the chapter itself was really drawn like that.

Volume 18 had completely re-drawn chapters that looked fantastic, so I'm anxious to see this volume.

I liked the art in the scans from Rikulaw better than the past-scans.

Just shows how much devotion Hoshino got that she redoes a lot off stuff to deliver high quality
Seems shes doing a lot with the eyes again, she seems never satisfied with how the eyes look on the characters :P

Oh awesome. Hoshino went back and edited some of her manga panels from the chapters when she was dealing with her health issues. There was an obvious art change during this time that was just... not up to her normal standards. She sure is dedicated to have gone back to do this! I love her art so much.

Oh my gosh, there's a huge difference between the initial chapter 187 version and the volume chapter 187. She got rid of all the heavily outlined characters and filled in all of the shading.

^ Agreed, I actually went through every page again just to see the difference. She added a lot of shading to the eyes and a little touch up to the mouth, especially for Allen. Strangely, I actually liked Allen's expression (in the first image above) in the initial chapter 187 more than the redrawn one.

Wow, there are a lot of redrawing of the eyes especially for Allen in almost every chapter and in some panels I didn't think it was necessary. A lot of them are really small changes though. And chapter 186 looks so much cleaner and better.

It doesn't say specifically which brand of tools she uses, but in the Jyan Bang episode it's mentioned that she uses both traditional and digital ones. The digital one is used more to bring out smaller details and textures I think.

Sydney: Everyone was bemoaning the fact back then she wasn't drawing the eyes adequately. I like the redrawn panels, especially as Hoshino is changing the sketches for Renee from looking like a female impersonator to an actual woman scientist. I definately liked the second image for when Marie is saying "no one will sympathize with the way you fight", because Allen looks a lot more attentive. As for when the Thirds are introduced, I think I prefer the first, since it has a lot more of a WTF expression. As for Kanda, well, she always plays with his design.
