There are two possible ways due to which Dimaria wouldn't be phisically capable of ending Acnologia:

1. Because Age Seal can't trap him in time. He exceeds Dimaria's and Age Seal's competences due to whatever reason (it doesn't affect entities with more MP than the prey, for example).
2. She manages to trap him in time, but she cannot hurt him because his skin is too durable.

Mashima has got us used to some patterns throughout his manga. One of them is that the stronger the mage, the more MP he generally has, and the more durable he generally is.

By that token, August should've been so durable that his skin should've been impenetrable by any blanded weapon whose strenght does not surpass his durability. Brandish is a hax-y magician, not a CQC specialized magician.

However, Brandish was capable of breaking through August's passive durability. How can we account for that?

Probably because durability is more relative than we want to believe and, except for some instances, such as the one @Shoutmon very well pointed out using the example of Natsu and Wally; passive durability is not governed by an only rule (= the stronger, not always the more durable).

In his human form, Acnologia seems to be the strongest, fastest and most durable 'human being' in the manga. However, he doesn't seemingly preserver his full Dragon aptitudes. I could see why many of you would agree Dimaria has got nothing in her arsenal capable of hurting Dragon form Acnologia. However I'd like to abide by possibility 1 above. I think Dimaria should definetely be capable of actually hurting/slashing/piercing through human form Acnologia, it's simply that she won't have the chance because AS is not working on him, so she's not getting anywhere near her.

Anyone who chooses possibility 2 is as entitled as I am to argue on that. After all, both possibilities are mere assumptions.
Acnologia is a dragon slayer, and enhancing their body is part of the magic. Some of these attributes are on at all times. That's why all the dragon slayers have heightened senses (and these heightened senses improve as they get stronger). That's why Natsu can do inhuman stuff like swallow a bullet even when caught off guard. That's why Torafusa and Wahl have all made statements like "These guys are not human". The very fact that Acnologia is 400 years old and his body still looks like that of a 30 year old in his prime should tell us that there is something going on with his body. August on the other hand is an old man. He's not actively using magic that enhances the physical properties of his body. Plus he is not as powerful as Acnologia, and Brandish is using magic to enlarge her sword. Dimaria's sword, for all we know, is just a random tool she uses. I have doubts DImaria's sword can even cut through stuff like Warrod Cken's wooden body or Elfman's beast soul takeovers.

Unlike Laxus Acnologia pain threshold has yet to be shown. Would Age Scratch work on him yeah, but would it stop him no because we have no idea of Acno's true strength.
What is this about Age scratch KO'ing Laxus? It failed to KO Wendy, it ain't doing anything to Laxus beyond giving him a temporary massive discomfort (much like it did Wendy). Laxus was fighting despite the fact that he should have been downright dead, he has some of the highest endurance in the series, not that you need it to be overly high as evidenced by Wendy, who is a support type to begin with.

Power level has nothing to do with timestop... if you don't have resistance to it then you're being frozen in time.
See thats obviously not the case because we have factual statements such as Irene being the strongest female of the Spriggan 12 (a group which Dimaria is a part of) and August being the strongest among the Spriggan 12 (a group which Dimaria is a part of). If Age Seal had nothing to do with power and actually directly affected the stream of time itself then she would be the strongest Spriggan (female and male) and Zeref wouldn't go out of his way to get Fairy Heart, he'd just send her against Acnologia while he stays in his human form. At the end of the day Dimaria is still using her own magic, and if a character is strong enough to overpower her magic (implied to not even be her trump card mind you) then the effects of her magic should be null and void against them.

The fact that someone of Kaguras caliber was able to at least determine what was going on is proof enough that power is certainly something, and quite frankly she pales in comparison to Spriggan+ level of strength. The way I see it is that Age Seal enables Dimaria to dispose of weaker characters without effort, and when it comes to the stronger characters she resorts to her trump card (God Soul). I see no reason to believe Dimaria is as omnipotent as you are making her out to be. Zeref also has time manipulation magic, I didn't see him trying to assassinate Acnologia in the cave whilst the latter was vulnerable in his human form after just coming out of a fight with Igneel.

Kagura had no idea about her Age Seal nor the activation. Dimaria didn't even timestop until she stripped of her clothes.
Dimaria stopped time right when Kagura mentioned that the battlefield froze instantly.

Following this page is the page you posted.

See she didn't notice jack squat about Age Seal.
Yeah because she is not powerful enough, but she did realize its activation and even her thought process was working.

Laxus pain threshold is Hades + Wahl. He's done after that and will be unconscious, now add all his other battles and he would die. It's a hax attack not a DC so it varies between people.

We do not know the full extent of August's or Irene's power, for all we know they can manipulate time or have a counter to Dimaria's magic. Laxus is no where near Irene, August, Zeref, or Acnologia so why are you him comparing Laxus to them? Laxus is not vastly superior to Dimaria and Age Scratch would be very effective against him as he is a character that has been in many battles. As we have seen in his battle with Wahl his MBP illness was enough to CRIPPLE him, and you believe he is going to take that pain, the pain he felt when he battled Wahl, the pain he accumulated being sick for a whole year, the pain he gathered when he inhaled all of Tempesta's MBPs, and the pain from all the battles he has been in prior? All that damage would be far too much for Laxus. Timestop is not something that you can escape by pure magic power alone. You need a counter to beat it.

The fact that someone of Kaguras caliber was able to at least determine what was going on is proof enough that power is certainly something, and quite frankly she pales in comparison to Spriggan+ level of strength. Being able to stop time does not mean you can KO an opponent as durable as Acnologia. Also it is very likely that Acnologia has a counter to timestop/manipulation as Zeref would of planned to just stop time and jump him with the S12. Age Seal works on everyone that doesn't have a counter, it literally stopping the flow of time and unless you have a counter you can't get out of it. Her timestop does not only weaker characters (that's some pretty big BS right there) as it worked on everyone in the entire south battlefield that includes Laxus, Gray, Erza, etcetera.
Dimaria stopped time right when Kagura mentioned that the battlefield froze instantly.

That page was before the one I posted.

Kagura said the battlefield froze cause she sh**** her pants :lmao. She NEVER noticed Dimaria's timestop as the first time Dimaria stopped time was AFTER Kagura said this. Kagura meant it metaphorically because she lost track of everything on the battlefield due to Dimaria's overwhelming power. How could Kagura recognize timestop before Dimaria even did it?? If Dimaria stopped time during this panel then Kagura would not even have time to think (let alone have a full blown conversation with herself) as her Age Seal is Instantaneous. Kagura never noticed Dimaria stopping time as the next page she was totally baffled as to why her clothes got destroyed. If Kagura knew Dimaria stopped time then she would not have been surprised. Also if Dimaria stopped time then Sherria and Lyon would not have been able to turn around and look at her.

Like I said no one on the battlefield knew of Dimaria's power before Ultear saved Wendy and Sherria.

With haxes there's usually a way around it, or a limit to it.

That said each hax has to be dealt with on their own merits. Mest for example used his hax on Brandish. This just means Mest's abilities can work on Spriggan tiers or people like Brandish specifically. This doesn't mean a different hax will definitely work on a Spriggan. It might, it might not.

An example of haxes having limitations is Future Rogue's Dragon Subjugation Magic (a similar hax to Mest's in some way, but designed specifically for dragons). It worked on GMG dragons to a certain extent but couldn't affect Acnologia.

This logic doesn't work at all. Wendy has been KO'd or near KO'd a handful of times in every arc she's been in, she should be beyond dead. In fact, Age Scratch after just two hard fought battles should KO the person. But it did not, in fact, it hardly even hindered her as she attacked Dimaria the very next second. What Age scratch does is bring back the pain from before, but it doesn't manifest the actual physical injuries. Its not that much more haxxed then Kyoukas pain curse in that regard.

We do not know the full extent of August's or Irene's power, for all we know they can manipulate time or have a counter to Dimaria's magic. Laxus is no where near Irene, August, Zeref, or Acnologia so why are you him comparing Laxus to them? We know what Irene does, she doesn't manipulate time. August might because he is hyped to know a plethora of different types of magic but thats besides the point. Your downright claiming that Age Seal is impossible to beat through sheer power alone, but thats not the case because if it had been, Acnologia wouldn't be the biggest threat right now. Its as simple as that. Dimaria was never portrayed as anything beyond regular Spriggan level so assuming that Irene and August are only above her because they have the perfect counter to Age Seal makes for a argument full of flaws. Occams Razor.

See, I personally see that as an excuse as to justify why Dimaria can't kill Acnologia as to maintain the credibility of a No-Limits-Fallacy-Age-Seal while falling in line with the facts established in the manga. It doesn't work, especially with the recent events of Brandish effortlessly stabbing through the mighty August with an elongated regular dagger. If a character is caught off guard, anything sharp and above jobber level should be injuring them. Human Acnologia is no exception (dragon Acnologia has hardened skin so that becomes more problematic). More importantly, we can't skip over the fact that Zeref can also stop time and he did not use said ability against human Acnologia. Someone of Zerefs caliber is probably even stronger then human Acnologia himself, let alone strong enough to injure him. And why not have Dimaria use Age Seal while all the Spriggans including the emperor himself spam him with magic, or are you going to say he could tank that as well?

We don't know if it worked on everyone in South. Gray and Erza could have been fighting jobber somewhere else and Laxus was taking a rest in isolation after just having a near death experience (Not that Erza and Gray are all that strong, comparatively speaking). Dimaria doesn't affect the entire planet with Age Seal, she probably just occupies a small space around her, she wasn't pronounced defeated in a split second by the guild (which should be further proof that she doesn't directly tap into time itself, the notion of which I find rather ridiculous). Her Age Seal is likely nothing more then a far more potent version of Racers ability and she outright deems her God Soul superior to Age Seal. How can Age Seal work on someone who is stronger then the power she deems superior to Age Seal? So many flaws in the argument (beyond the glaring no limits fallacy) I can't really be bothered. I think I discussed the subject enough and shared my opinion enough, though I'm still open for occasional discussion.

She NEVER noticed Dimaria's timestop as the first time Dimaria stopped time was AFTER Kagura said this.
No, after she said it Dimaria teased her as her clothes ripped to shreds which means that Dimaria actually cut her clothes and got back to her spot while Kagura was there claiming that the battlefield froze.

I don't buy it at all. She conveniently uses the metaphor of time which we know is Dimarias ability and as she is thinking it while Dimaria is using her Age Seal. Dimaria is not instant, in fact she has shown that she likes to tease the frozen bodies so there was most certainly more then enough time for Kagura to think to herself. On top of that you'd even have to stretch your argument further to cover the fact that Kagura only sensed her MP after she parried the blow, when we have seen that strong MP is sensed even before the character is downright seen (ie Acnologia) or at least at first presence/appearance (ie Brandish, Ajeel). You see, your argument here requires far too many conveniences.

If Kagura knew Dimaria stopped time then she would not have been surprised. Also if Dimaria stopped time then Sherria and Lyon
Why? She was still not strong enough to downright counter it. Sherria and Lyon turned around right before Dimaria used Age Seal.

Like I said no one on the battlefield knew of Dimaria's power before Ultear saved Wendy and Sherria.
Yeah because everyone else on the battlefield were fodder. Kagura was strong enough to resist the technique to an extent (have a thought process) but even she couldn't completely resist the effects.[/QUOTE]

@Jko,

Lol, Acnologia is the walking anti-hax so it pretty useless to even bring him even into the equation. We are talking about Laxus not Acnologia.
I thought you said Age Scratch has no limit because it wasn't stated to have one. If it doesn't have a limit then it should work on Acno as well and not just on Laxus. I dunno about you but I find it very hard to believe Dimaria can replicate all the damage Acno received in his life (400 years full of fighting countless Dragon Slayers, Dragons and tanking spells from Irene who is canonically much stronger than Dimaria) with just one casual spell.

Age Scratch isn't even her strongest spell. What did Dimaria accomplish with her full power attack then? Pushing back TO Chelia who was shielded by Base Wendy?

Since Age Scratch is weaker and contains less MP than her full power attack, which didn't really hinder even TO Chelia, I believe it wouldn't even remotely hurt Acno. No matter what it's effect on much weaker characters is.

Also, Irene's spells > Age Scratch. If Acno can laugh off Irene's spells, he'd laugh off Age Scratch as well. Simple as that.
He could have killed the others for all we know.
He did. But the war probably wasn't a walk in the park for him. He faced Prime Igneel. He dealt heavy blows and took heavy blows. Blows I have trouble seeing Dimaria replicating with her level of MP. Much less with one casual spell.

Acno coming out of that war unscathed would not only make him look more impressive than he already is, but it would also show just how weak Dimaria is compared to him.
Zeref stated he has never once gone all out.
Against Prime Igneel and the foster Dragons at least during the Dragon Civil War I'd imagine he did go all out. He might've held back against half-dead Igneel. But even that Igneel is leaps and bounds above anything Dimaria can do so whether or not he was holding back is irrelevant.

Also, again, claiming Acno wasn't going all out during that war would only make him look even more impressive than he already is.
First, Irene was just trying to remove him from the battlefield and two Irene is much stronger than Laxus so again why even bring her into the conversation?
I brought her in to point out how strong Acno is compared to Dimaria and how ridiculous the idea of Age Scratch affecting him to the extent you think it can, is.

If Irene can't do shit to him as far as physical and/or mental damage goes, Dimaria can't either. It's not rocket science.
Jacob was about to go in on Acno.... Also August never stated he couldn't hurt Acno he only knew he couldn't put him down.
Even if August could hurt Acno it wouldn't prove Dimaria could too with her Age Scratch (which, again, isn't even her strongest spell) since August is much stronger than Dimaria.
Everyone has stated this because no one knows how strong Acnologia truly is.
That's portrayal bro. Zeref is portrayed to have a chance at killing Acno only with "infinite" Magic. Without it, he doesn't. He has an empire and he still goes for Fairy Heart. That just shows how big the gap is between Acno and Dimaria.
Yeah, but we don't know what happened in that timeline
We know Acno ruled the world for years with no trace of Zeref, his empire or FT. That's enough for me.
and there were 10,000 dragons.
Only makes him look more impressive.
We've already seen that Acno is the anti-hax with major durability seeing as Etherion couldn't put him down and Rogue's Dragon manipulation technique couldn't work on him. You have yet to prove the spell wouldn't work on him still. Could Fairy Law work sure but would it put him down, heck no.
Fairy Law, like Age Scratch, wasn't stated to have a limit. If Acno doesn't end up like Jose, than FL does have a limit. If even Etherion wouldn't put him down why do you think Dimaria would make him feel pain with one casual spell?

You have also yet to prove Age Scratch would work on Acno. All you got is the fact that it wasn't mentioned to have a limit. How that proves it would hurt him is beyond me tbh.
You see where you're going wrong is that you're comparing Laxus to Acnologia and Zeref when Laxus ain't nowhere near Irene/August level let alone Zeref and Acnologia.
Never claimed he was.

I brought Acno, Irene and Zeref to prove Age Scratch does in fact have limits. Acno's got the best feats and portrayal in the manga by far. Dimaria making him feel pain with one casual spell while characters much stronger than her couldn't do so doesn't sound right in my head.
Laxus can be affected by Age Scratch
Never said Laxus wouldn't be affected by Age Scratch. He would. If it even lands that is. But the way I see it, the amount of pain he'd feel from that shouldn't surpass the amount of pain he'd feel if he's hit by one of Assault Wahl's spells. Which are definitely tankable for someone like him.
and it's never stated that her Age Scratch has a limit on who the attack is able to work on.
By that logic, Laxus can one-shot Acno with FL. Franmalth can absorb his spells, GMG Erza's Nakagami can dispel (and thus overpower) his roars, Seilah can control him and Mard can erase him from existence.

See how wrong the logic of "this spell wasn't mentioned to have a limit, therefore it doesn't have one" sounds?
All you're saying is that her spell isn't limitless but you have yet to disprove the spell wouldn't actually work on Acnologia. We all know the spell wouldn't put him down because Acno hasn't actually shown to be affected by pain and hasn't even shown what his threshold to pain is unlike Laxus.
>Age Scratch not having a limit simply because it wasn't stated to have one.
>Logic.

Personally, I'd go with logic. Yes. Even FT has some kind of logic behind it. Such as Acno being miles ahead of Dimaria in every possible way. :wowsoBOB

I hope you're joking, Laxus is stronger.
Laxus is Wahl level, who is well, well, well below August or Irene. Laxus might last longer in a fight against them than Gray, Erza or Lucy would. He might not get fodderized. But he would definetely lose.

While I agree that Laxus loses he's not on the same level as someone he one shot. That's like saying Jellal is Neinhart level.

Even worse; he one shot him while being under double handicaps (near death by MBP and Wahl being lightning resistant). Laxus is way above Wahl.

Acnologia has the power to extract souls, I don't think there's much effort there. Igneel is stronger but Acnologia is just like Dimaria, hax.

It didn't work on Acnologia because he's human.

Laxus was nerfed? What does that even mean? Are you saying that Laxus was stronger than August in the past and now he's weaker...?
what he meant is that Laxus got those MBP which weakened him greatly and he was still keeping up with Wahl. plus Wahl was immune to his power and no he is not stronger than Irene or August.

While I agree that Laxus loses he's not on the same level as someone he one shot. That's like saying Jellal is Neinhart level.
While Laxus would normally probably beat Wahl mid difficulty, he beat him high-extreme difficulty due to his internal damage. So, no, Wahl didn't get one shot, nor would he have been even if Laxus had been healthy.

WAHL DID get one shot, Wahl himself said all of Laxus' blows beforehand done NO DAMAGE. Wahl was one shot in canon and nor is he anywhere near Laxus' level, he's immune to 99% of Laxus' arsenal and he still gets mid diffed according to you.

that last lightning punch didn't do anything to Wahl. Wahl was even laughing and he said that he is powerless because his powers don't have any effect against him. as soon as Red Lightning kicked in he was done. game over. lightning attacks that stroke Wahl just pushed him back against walls but that was it.

If Laxus could have utilize Red Lightning from the beginning then Wahl would have been rekted in one blow. its the same thing with Natsu vs Jacob. if Natsu had FDKM mode from the start then he would have one shotted Jacob, provided if Jacob doesn't have his Transport. Jacob also has shitty durability.

Ok I reread the battle. While Laxus' electric blows did seemingly no damage, I still think it is electricity which did no damage, not the blow itself.

Red lightning is blood + electricity, being the blood factor that 'oneshot' Wahl. It's not that red lightning >>>>>>>>>>>> regular lightning, red lightning > or >> lightning but the 'different element' factor is what granted him the win.

Still, he won high-extreme diff. He could've used that move from the beginning then that'd have been a low diff.

@Jean Grey if Jacob is faster at joining the palms of his hands than Natsu in his BDKM, then he automatically wins. Also, if his stealth is activated faster than Natsu BDKM landing a blow on him, he also wins. Jacob is all hax. If his haxes are prevented he's weak as shit. Otherwise, he can pretty much solo the entire FT save Lucy (w/ Horologium + Marin Gemini), although she's eventually going to get wrecked as well since he is superior in CQC and MP.

Wahl said himself his blow were doing NO DAMAGE dunno what else he would need to say.

Actually red lightning isn't blood+lightning it's mercury fulminate+lightning.

Laxus only got pushed that high due to MBP and plot not having use red lightning, my points still stands Laxus is wayy above Wahl.

it was said that Red Lightning is a lightning that surpasses the lightning. I don't think we should put science her (Mercury Fulminate). it is unknown if that lightning was from blood. it was said something like "Red, the color of an unbreakable bond of blood". it doesn't sound like Re Lightning if from blood not that it makes any sense.

the fight was similar to Zancrov vs Natsu. Natsu' fiery punches didn't do any damage to Zancrow.
