Okay, your point?

He still destroyed the mountain. The anime is not filler, by the way. It's material from the manga in animation, that does not mean it's filler.
Did you just ignore everything I just said? The scene isn't in the manga it's filler, Irrelevant.

KOTSA was semi canon. There is no manga chapters of this arc.Only Zentopia incident was mentioned by Yukino in the manga.Though it is unclear who participated in it.

Gildarts completely destroying the mountain/hill is ONLY in the anime, therefore its filler. In the manga, which is the source material and the most reliable source you can go with, Gildarts only fragments the mountain/hill as Crimson Ice pointed out.

Not saying that is not a notable feat, in fact it is impressive but you and Wood are exaggerating what Gildarts actually did.

Besides, why are people trying to exaggerate this by now inept feat compared to Gildarts more recent feat where he shattered a very large area in an impressive display of Crash Magic?

That's true.

Past feats are very small compared to the feats of this arc for all characters. The power creep in just one year has been massive.

Yeah I have...

Implying, had he been alive, God Serena would be on par with him, or superior.

Portrayed as equals here. And this is 30% Serena (approximately) vs 100% Glidartz.

Eventually, Glidartz's superiority is glaring. Of course, it had to be, since it's 30% Serena not full power Serena. But if he had been faster than light, Glidartz would've oneshot... and he didn't :noworry Actually, look at Glidartz's faces. He has scratches!!!! What does it tell you?:mono Analyze the situation, will you? Well, I'll let you know, since you don't seem to understand:
1. There was a battle in there. There was an interchange of blows as equals even though God Serena was nowhere near his full power. God Serena managed to hurt Glidartz which means Glidartz didn't get to crash everything that he was thrown at.
2. Glidartz is not that fast... is he? His speed was portrayed as being equal with Historia Serena, he didn't blitz at any moment, and actually he couldn't dodge or crash (react to) God Serena...

Ice Trail was neither written by Hiro Mashima nor drawn by it.
Tale of Fairy Tail: Ice Trail (氷の軌跡, アイストレイル, Aisu Toreiru) is a Japanese manga series by Yusuke Shirato and a spin-off of Hiro Mashima's manga series Fairy Tail. That it's a spin-off doesn't mean it's not canon. Indeed, Fairy Tail Zero is an example of a spin-off which is definitely canon.
Difference:
Fairy Tail Zero is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hiro Mashima. Ice Trail is not.
Conclusion: Ice Trail is not canon.

Destructive Capacity is simply the capacity of a character to cause destruction. It is useful for scaling the power of a character and is THE most common method of determining how much damage a character can dish out. Destructive capacity is based on the ability to destroy with a single attack.
Some categories:
1. Below Street Level - An ant in our yard is here
2. Street Level - We are here
3. Wall/Tree Level - Superhuman threshold. Many FT fodders are here.
4. Small Building Level - Many FT characters are here.
5. Large Building Level - It requires 0.25 tons of TNT to destroy this. Most FT characters are here.
6. City Block Level - It requires 11 tons of TNT to destroy this. Mid-high tiers in FT are here.

BETWEEN city block and town level is this:

This is almost a town busting attack. From end to end of the rock blocks, there must be around 1 km diameter. This is a small town level feat.

7. Town Level - 5800 tons of TNT are required to destory a town. This is the necessary energy to destroy a diameter of 5 to city areas of 10 km. The term "hill level" has some overlap here. Why? Because destroying a 1 km in diameter, 300 m high hill requires as much energy as the necessary to destroy an 8 km town in diameter. Amazing, huh?

This is the hill Glidartz destroyed.

This is a mountain that is close to my house. It is 850 m high (1050 m high from sea level). Compare them. Are they as big for you? No, clearly not. The mountain I'm showing you is taller and much wider.

EVEN if you believed that they are the same size, then you'd consider him mountain level. But I recall @Crimson Ice mentioning something along the lines that the amount of energy necessary to bust a mountain is much different when it is just 'breaking' it. Glidartz is not deintegrating the mountain (like 8 megatons of TNT would do), he is just breaking it in pieces. Which requires WAY less energy.

Glidartz casual punching strength can be seen in this calc: http://animevice.boards.net/thread/2524/gildarts-casual-striking-power-calc

When Glidartz sends someone flying, it actually requires around 132 tons of energy. So empyrean is, yeah, somewhere between city block and small town.

8. City/Mountain Level - 6,800,000 tons of TNT is the starting point for this categori, which ranges to 2,000,000,000 tons. Nowhere near Glidartz's gauge, at least not by feats.

9. Island Level - Starting from 2,900,000,000 for small islands. Only Acnologia's roar has shown such energy.

Yes. This ranges from city block to town level similar to Glidartz's punch to the floor against the soldiers. It is smaller though, but not much more. It must be 0,8 km in diameter, at a rough guess.

Don't be counterproductive for your own arguments, if you say that breaking the floor for an area of 1 km diameter is more than destroying a big hill, you clearly know nothing about physics. Don't take me wrong I don't know much but at least I educate myself before claiming things.

That Natsu couldn't beat Glidartz is an assumption of yours. Currently his feats are above his. Natsu has defeated two spriggans; the second time he defeated one, it was done casually and in base, and that spriggan was enhanced. Whereas his lake evaporating feat requires at least a similar amount of energy as Glidartz punching through the big hill, or more according to calcs.

That he is not fast enough is also subjective, as we know Natsu is very, very fast; but we can't gauge Glidartz's speed, since:
1- Ice Trail is not cannon, I rely on manga facts, anything other than that is unreliable.
2- Even if we were to take the speed Glidartz showcased in Ice Trail, we only know he is faster than the eye of FODDER, we can't gauge his real speed.

Incorrect.

Here, they are portrayed as equals and this happens before the Tenrou Tree falls.

No video material shall be considered reliable in this thread.

What does this prove? Nothing really. Just that Glidartz came at the right time and intercepted an attack from Historia Serena (weakling) surprising the latter since God Serena didn't know GLidartz was anywhere near, and the smokescreen didnt allow for GLidartz to be seen. No more.

Wrong, pal, I've already debunked that.

Bullshit. We already have evidence that a certain level of magic does not work to certain mages who are way above (i.e. Brandish's magic won't affect Neinheart => Brandish's magic won't affect Irene => Dimaria's magic won't affect Irene => Dimaria's magic won't affect August by being portrayed as Irene's equal).

Sorry but please, understand you are wrong, admit it, concede and move on. The earth won't stop if you admit you've been led by the bias.
Boom Bam Pop...

We already have some evidence that Gildarts was holding back against Bluenote. After the Tenrou Tree was restored, Bluenote suggested that they both get serious. At which point Gildarts easily defeated Bluenote's best attack, and defeated Bluenote and sent him flying, all in a single blow. The same way Natsu defeated Bluenote after the timeskip.

All the spin off story are down by Mashima but executed by other Mangaka. So they'd be canon.

As for why he didn't simply defeat God Serena as soon as the fight began, there are a few possibilities. For starters, it's pretty common in the series that people don't use their full power on an opponent right off the bat. There's a few possible reasons for this. For one thing if you're really powerful, going all out against someone with your first attack is a great way to accidentally kill someone you didn't mean to kill, which tends to ruin your day. It's also a big waste of power. There's also the matter of knowing what your opponent can do, so you don't run face first into some hax. For example someone like Midnight who can theoretically throw your own attack back at you. It would kind of suck to get your own strongest attack back in your face. Best to find that sort of ability out with a smaller attack when practical. Gildarts destroys villages by falling down, and breaks mountains with a punch aimed at a relatively minor monster.

Moving on, Natsu encounters Gildarts early into his training journey (seeing as Natsu's hair hadn't noticably grown). They spar, and we see that while Natsu has improved markedly, he's still clearly far below Gildarts. Fast forward a year, and Natsu encounters Bluenote, and dispatches him with a single roar (that may or may not be a FDK move, him calling out the name of his attacks isn't really a requirement). While this serves as nice evidence that Natsu is now on Gildarts' level, it's not proof that he's surpassed Gildarts by a significant margin. Several of the things that would cause Gildarts to hold back against Bluenote would not apply for Natsu, and Gildarts did defeat Bluenote with a single attack in the end.

The thing about Gildarts speed, he is probably the fastest character we've seen thus far.

He still moved completely FTE to Bluenote when he showed up between him and Cana. They traded blows for a bit, Gildarts having his power drained, and when he got his power back he Crashed apart Black Hole and blitzed Bluenote with Empyrean before he could react.

You have to come to the fact that God Serena would lose in a fight to Gildarts with quite ease

Purgatory Dragon's Blazing Hell was projectile based, although yes it had a decent AoE. The flames would just be Crashed apart though. Sea King Dragon's Encircling Deluge was projectile-based and would be Crashed apart. We didn't see his Gale Dragon Slayer spell but it looked like a ranged attack, and would be Crashed apart. The only non projectile-based spell he used was Cavern Dragon's Earth Destruction, which cracked apart the local ground. Gildarts accomplished the same effect but much stronger just by punching. And any Roars God Serena uses, which are a staple of Dragon Slayer magic, would be Crashed apart.

The Gildarts chat God Serena. For example it means.
Ex.
Optic Nadeshot: Optic Scumpi is a really player, he has won multiple championships

Does this mean Nadeshot is inferior to Scump? No, it just means he's a good player.

Now about the Natsu vs Gildarts.

Gildarts would crush Natsu. The fight he had with him on Tenrou was Gildarts hardly fighting. Gildarts stayed in one spot the entire time, not counting involuntary movement. Gildarts going all out would godstomp Natsu.

Look, some of this might actually be taken seriously if you actually read or paid any heed to the arguments of others. You're just blowing them off

While that is true (current Glidartz oneshots any version of Glidartz prior to the timeskip), his most recent feat (crashing the floor) was only a town busting feat.

About Zentropia--it's semi-canon. Mashima projected the story, but anime staff completed it. That's why it's not fully reliable. For example, in Zentropia Angel could summon angels by using coins and paying her life. Later in manga she still have Angel Magic, but she didn't need any coins.

Hills aren't formed from tectonic plates, one going on top of the other.

Show me one hill that dwarfs trees that are nearly 30 feet tall, waterfall and a river.

Gildarts falling down created a larger AOE than God Serena cave dragon slaying magic.

Don't ignore facts.

It's ok, people on this forum ignore feats. When they see something don't like, they says its "filler, not reliable".

August has one feat to contend with Gildarts.

Gildarts was the only person to come back alive from a 100 year quest and survive Acnologia. That speaks volumes on his durability, God Serena had 70% of the treatment, he only lost his belly.

August has poor reaction skills and durability. He's down, and Irene didn't fight Dragon Acnologia.

God Serena was also a pure target of Acnologia's. Gildarts was some random insect he found. He had a lot more incentive for one of those kills. Dragon Acnologia hasn't shown any feats to say he's stronger in that form. In fact, human Acnologia has shown the better feats so far. With the simple raise of his hand he produced a big ass hole that reached so far into the ground you couldn't see the end. Dragon just left a sizable crater in place of a small island.

August was completely carefree, and Brandish is still a Spriggan. She could have high speed. Low durability? WTF. A big ass blade was thrust through him and the dude then proceeded to nuke the place to where they could see it from the guild and it was brighter than Fairy Glitter. Natsu couldn't even eat the whole thing in time from the intensity. Natsu couldn't.

Gildarts has shown literally nothing surpassing, matching, or even closely matching August.

That's not a feat of durability, it's a feat of toughness. Acnologia had full intention to kill Serena, not the same for Gildarts.

Irene didn't fight Dragon Acnologia but so didn't Gildarts. He didn't fight Dragon Acnologia, he got crushed like an insect. Whether Dragon or Human, the fact remains Acnologia talked to Irene and she impressed him to the point he asked for her name. On the other hand, Gildarts was torn apart in an instant and he was a passer by insect for Acnologia and Acnologia didn't even bother talking to him, something which is proven from the encounter on Tenrou Island.

You talk about Gildarts possessing the highest AoE of the human characters but it's clearly Irene, her spell covered an entire country and the light was visible from outer space. Gildarts is completely incapable of replicating that.

Wow! Irene can move things around, such a GODLY feat right.

Gildarts has the speed, strength, hax, magic to completely counter Irene and August.

KoTsh and Ice Trail are both cannon.
Wrong. Not gonna bother debating about Ice Trail, but that scene you provided was filler. While Zentopia was mentioned once in the manga by Yukino, there's no guarantee that every scene in Zentopia was cannon because filler scenes happen in cannon arcs all the time. Provide a link where Hiro acknowledges that everything that went down in Zentopia in the anime is cannon and I'll believe that your scene isn't filler.
http://www.mangapanda.com/fairy-tail/495/10
1. Not casual
2. Charge time is too long
3. Natsu isn't fast enough
What does this have to do with the Zentopia arc scene being filler or not?

Gildarts basically got stomped by Acnologia, while Irene managed to teleport him somewhere. At this point, Irene has more feat than Gildarts. Hell, from what we've seen, Gildarts would lose to her and to August, who took a blade and is still standing and fighting like nothing happened. And despite Gildarts' existence, Irene and August are still known to be the two of the most powerful mages ever, at least as of now.

Gildarts gonna get his ass spanked like Natsu almost always does every arc.

Honest to god can you please actually read our posts stool? I swear you're just saying whatever pops into your head now.

You keep repeating an overused argument, which reduces your credibility in a debate.

And you're saying the most blalantly ridiculous statements. Exactly how can Gildarts stomp August and Irene? He said himself that he would be about evenly matched with God Serena when he was alive, who was considered at best a middle their Spriggan... In comparison to Serena, August and Irene have too vast of a power difference.

Gildarts lost his arm, leg, and his belly. God Serena only had his belly taken from him. Who had it worst? Gildarts did and Acnologia was in dragon form. And don't use that target as an excuse that he's stronger than Gildarts. Acnologia hates humans, he thinks of them nothing more than insects. He didn't get a rip about August and Jacob.

The fact that August had a knife pierce him means he has low durability. And Natsu was able to negate the spell, probably not for Lucy and Happy but he did for himself.

In comparison to Serena, August and Irene have too vast of a power difference.
uh, no. Sayings someone is strong doesn't mean they're equal.

Gildarts has casual mountain busting punches. He threw 13 punches instantly and can move at "poof!" Speed. did you really just ignore the fact that Gildarts blitz the fuck out of bluenote with Empyrean?!

Irene pushed him back like 2 feet and teleported him. If Acnologia really wanted to, he could've killed her the same way God Serena did. Acnologia wasn't even moving. Not a worthy feat to say she's stronger than Gildarts.

So if you claim August has low durability because he got pierced by the knife, doesn't that mean that God Serena has more durability than Gildarts? If a slash from Acnologia only ripped a hole through God Serena but it ripped off half of Gildarts' limbs then wouldn't you say that Gildarts is less durable than God Serena?

Acnologia is dragon form has big ass hands, we don't know what he hit Gildarts but the fact that he survived proves he's stronger.
