It's just that I can't buy that at all. Sure Dragons are all stupid strong for some reason compared to everything else yet on that level? I just don't see them as that strong when Gray could oneshot someone that only got mildly annoyed by DF Natsu by getting a good hit in. Being 100x GMG Laxus is obscene. I doubt even Irene or August is that many times stronger than him.
Hell Alvarez/100 YQ Laxus isn't 100x GMG Laxus. :XD
I consider authentic dragons to be far above August and Eileen.

Does any explanation, other than
"DS magic is super effective on Dragons"
explain broken bones Erza one shotting Dragon Eileen?

I don't think so

IMO Alverez Laxus = 5-10x GMG Laxus.

Animus, an average Dragon, required Alverez Natsu to be in his strongest Dragon Force ever shown in the series, to be beaten.
Dragons ARE that far ahead of others. It's not ridiculous to assume that Zircnois was like 100x GMG Laxus

Does "Dumb narrative stuff" count as an explanation? The plot required no dragons to be beaten, so none were beaten, then when the plot required for one to be beaten it was beaten.

By the very nature of being a Dragonized DS it kinda implies that Irene can sorta kill the average dragon doesn't it?

Like, hell, the anime shows Acno easily oneshoting dragons in human form(including Zirconis and Animus) with a slap on the head while the same stuff just REALLY hurts the 7 DS in their fight with him.

Wendy, while not doing any major damage, was clearly able to make Zirconis feel an attack from her while an attack from Stiri Mira did absolutely nothing to the point that Zirconis even says he didn't even feel it. Wendy was drastically weaker than Mira at that point yet had a more effective attack. Same with Cobra and Motherglare. Slayer magic is extremely potent against whatever it was made to be used against.

If plot is what your explanation is, then there is no reason for discussing ANYTHING. That's not what we're doing here. You can't offer another explanation than plot, fine.
Why should "plot" be the explanation, while slayer magic has been shown to be explicitly super effective? I don't know, but you do you lmao

Animus tanked Natsu's attacks and almost killed Natsu, and he was nerfed while he did it. That speaks of the power difference between an average Dragon and Alverez characters.
Animus needed Natsu in his strongest DF ever shown in the series to beat him. While dragon Eileen was one shotted by broken bones Erza. If this doesn't show you the difference between dragons and August/Eileen, I don't know what will.

I think Eileen can defeat surely Animus, because she's a Dragon Slayer. But remove the slayer advantage, and Animus is tiers above her.

Acno IS that damn strong. Even Zeref is no more than an ant to him, let alone August or Eileen; which was why he wanted FH. Acno is on the level of Igneel, and combine that with Ds magic, he can definitely one shot Dragons.

I mean if I remove the slayer advantage nothing ever can beat a Dragon since they're pretty much completely immune to everything. Except maybe non magical weapons of high enough force.

Also movie Natsu is kinda weird since he never really uses FDK mode.

The thing about dragons is that every dragon is basically also a dragon slayer. As a species, dragons have evolved with every member having the same slayer advantage against each other. That's probably why they're so strong. They're so used to having slayer advantage against each other that everything else just seems weak in comparison. A "dragon slayer" is just a human enchanted with a dragon's power. A dragon would be able to damage another dragon just as well as any dragon slayer.

I do believe that Irene in her dragon form is stronger than the average dragon. Mainly because I believe Belserion is stronger than an average dragon, and Irene's dragon slaying magic should take after him. Also, if an August-level dragon slayer can't defeat an average dragon, then there probably isn't any dragon slayer that can do it. Erza being able to damage Irene proves that Erza was just that strong. I have no problem chalking it up to POF giving her a massive boost in strength. That said, I'm not convinced that boost in strength is unparalleled. Natsu's flames of emotions gave him a greater boost than Erza's POF. Ignia's flames made Natsu at least as strong as his flames of emotions did, if not stronger.

Ignia > Natsu with Ignia's flames >= Raging Flames of Emotion > FH Zeref > Irene >= POF Erza > Regular Erza

The flames from one of Ignia's attacks gave Natsu enough power to beat Mercphobia. Keep in mind that Natsu didn't eat the flames right away. Mercphobia actually dropped the ocean in an attempt to put the flames out first. Also keep in mind that Natsu didn't just beat Mercphobia. He wiped away all of Mercphobia's magical power and reverted him to a regular human. Natsu would have kept going if Lucy hadn't stopped him. Irene would honestly have to be leagues above Mercphobia not to be defeated by Natsu (with Ignia's flames). Irene would have to outright defeat Natsu (with Ignia's flames) to not get oneshotted by Ignia himself. Remember, Natsu with Ignia's flames still only scales to one attack by Ignia. So unless you're saying Irene is leagues above Mercphobia and stronger than Natsu with Ignia's flames, then Ignia simply oneshots Irene with the attack that he used to feed Natsu.

Okay, that's nice. It's got nothing to do with what I'm saying. I said Wall's etherion is featless and that the Spriggans (except for maybe August) don't actually have country busting feats. You're telling me that Garou Knights are featless or whatever..... :wonder

Also, etherion didn't fail. Wall just never fired it because Laxus trapped him within a jutsu shiki.
Neither is what you’re saying, so are a lot of other spells and were the Spriggans ever hyped to be country level.
Besides being defeated in battle mostly yes

So it’s a lot like Abyss break where it was stopped before it could be used.

What? Please stop replying to me if you're not going to make sense. My original point was that "Wall's etherion is featless and that the Spriggans (except for maybe August) don't actually have country busting feats. They just have hype". None of what you're saying is a response to this. I don't care about the Garou Knights and I don't care about Abyss break. It's irrelevant.

I think the slayer advantage is applicable only when it's EXCLUSIVELY used by humans.

Dragons dont have advantage against each other. Or else an Igneel copy can one shot Igneel, and that doesn't make sense

Regular Spriggans don't actually have country busting feats. They have hype of the statements of Brandish being able to make nations disappear. The attack grazed Laxus' shoulders obviously didn't destroy an entire country. It honestly didn't even seriously damage Laxus' shoulders.

August's Ars Magia is the only spell that realistically suggested that it was going to destroy a country. Irene's universe one also operates on the scale of a country, but it doesn't do any real damage and requires preparation.

How would you guys rank the 5 God Dragons?

My rank based on hype:

Ignia
Selena
Aldoron
Viernes
Mecrophobia
Same list. I think Viernes could be above Aldoron but there's nothing to really base that on right now. Personally, I think it was Ignia who gave Aldoron those wounds. He loves fighting and who better than a fellow DG to test his mettle. Merc even said that battle is Ignia's life. He's clearly the most unruly of the 5 as well.

A dragon on Igneel's level wouldn't oneshot Igneel.

Okay like I said so are a lot of other spells. You also have Irene and maybe Brandish and Ajeel. Depends on what do you think is country level

What I should have said before was most powerful spells or at least hyped to be either are stopped from being used or fail depending on the target or what the spell does. Had Wall used Etherion on a bunch of fodders we might have seen what it did and the damage

Yes. Some attacks in the series are also featless.
Yes. Maybe if Wall used the spell against defenseless fodders, we could have seen what it actually does.

None of this is a response to what I am saying. A country level attack is an attack that can destroy a country. None of the Spriggans have destroyed anything close to a country.

Exactly.

Ok, that's nice.

Look, Wall's etherion is featless and we have no way of telling what it would have actually been like. Personally, I very much doubt that it rivals the council's Etherion, and I'm not going down the nuclear fusion rabbit hole. If I absolutely had to guess what it was going to be like, I'd probably say it would look like one of the Etherion blasts that Elie did in Rave Master. But again, the point is that it's featless. It's literally an attack that was never used, and I'm not going to pretend to know how much damage the attack would have actually done.

Never said it wasn’t featless

Sorry had to do something.
Logically the councils should be more powerful because it's bigger
