It looks like Zeref is an animal lover xD Don't really know if Zeref would teach them magic (kind of strange, the most devil man in manga teach them magic, but makes sense since he's like the strongest magician) because he's the reason why all life disappears...

Wow, I was quite surprised about that. No wonder all the people there turn out to be so powerful, they were taught magic by the greatest wizard of all time. I am kinda disappointed that zeref killed him like that after what had happened between them though. It feels like their reunion should have been more emotional or something.

Thinking about it now it seems kinda obvious that the mavis we see now is not actually a spirit but rather an illusion of hers which she uses as a spirit. The implication is that mavis is actually alive. I haven't thought about the other girl being an illusion. It would make sense that mavis made her in order to not feel so alone on that island. It would be kinda like the cat guild from the oracion 6 arc.

So Laxus inherited the magic of his his great grandfather. But this chapter kills the tenrou arc cause Zeref and hades didn't seem like they knew each other.
Does this mean that huma can use curses like demons too?
Why didn't Zeref age at all?

Um, what? That was just shocking. This reveal is more interesting than anything FT has given us in years. FT's founders being taught magic by Zeref himself is just way out there. The background on Zeref's curse was pretty informative too. I'm looking forward more to the next instalment of this than actual FT chapters at this point.

Since Mavis is the Black Wizard maybe that's why Ivan called Lumen Historie the dark side of FT, some kind of sealed black magic waiting to be released.

And I'd love to see Natsu in this spin-off, now that it is confirmed that he is END I think he is going to appear so the principal series doesn't waste pages explaining his birth as a demon.

You should reread Mangastream's version. The explanation of Zeref's curse is even more impactful. The more he treasures life the more he's likely to kill all living things..

So no one has actually acknowledge zeira through the manga? I can't actually remember anyone doing so anyways.... Its interesting that mavis gave her fire magic though. On another note, it is an illusion that only mavis can see. So this is probably the start of the FT symbol which allows FT members to see mavis.

Zeref is imortal, centuries old. He doesn't age.

As for Zeira, I read chapter 1 as if she died, so when she was alive years later, I first assumed that Mavis was imagining her. I remember people acknowledging Zeira, though (Yury and Precht, I think), so I dropped that theory and went with "nobody dies in shounen anyway" instead.

Until Mavis revealed she could use illusion magic. At this point, I believe the only person to have "touched" Zeira is Mavis herself.

If Zeira is alive and real (and that's a big if - there have been a few "zoom in" panels of Yuri, Precht and Warrod's unconfortable faces after Mavis / Zeira interact, foreshadowing something), I doubt that would happen.

Mavis and Zeira seem to have... "other" interests.

Well not surprising that the founders are ridiculously powerful. Not everyone gets taught magic by the best there is. Dunno why there was zeref and hades acted like they didn't know each other. Maybe the idea of zeref teaching the founders magic hadn't been conceived yet. Atleast we saw from the magic games arc that he knew Mavis.

Well, she was alone for years in Tenrou, after the traumatic event where everyone dies, and Zeira apparently dies when she tries to save her.

Big trauma from that and the requisite dose of crazy that comes from growing up alone could very well have awakened Mavis' powers and made Zeira her Wilson.

Hi this will be my first time participating in this discussion!

The issue about Zeira being just an illusion, I think this is a pretty good and possible theory. I've re-read FT Zero from chapter 1 and I've noticed some very intriguing things. It is when Mavis introduced Zeira to Yury that made me doubt her character..

Yury seemed rather worried and uneasy upon meeting Zeira. Could it be, he sensed that there's something about her that made him make such a look? Since he was shown using a magic item, then it might be he also knowledgeable in little magic... Also, there's Precht who said that Mavis had been living "alone" in the island. This is quite understandable since they haven't noticed Zeira's presence yet. But on the next chapter, he looked at the two girls with a troublesome look, especially for Mavis.

Also, doesn't that type of illusion magic reminds you of the Cait Shelter master used to make Wendy believe that the people there are still alive?

Mavis is either "summoning" Zeira unconsciously or on purpose. If it is the first one than Zeira might be like a second half of Mavis' personality,
It is quite the Mashima move. Though... Then the whole yuri scene seems kinda uncalled for...

If zeira isn't real, then Mavis probably does it unconsciously. It'd be damn weird if she does it intentionally.
I tend to believe she's real but lately I've been thinking otherwise.
