You are right, i forgot about Hades. He's dead, Zeref killed him.

Only one is alive from founding members of FT.

It will be interesting to see what happened to Mavis and Makarov dad.

Yeah. Seeing Mavis is Lumen Histiore may very well mean she is in a coma-like state, but her manifestation can still do recon so she has knowledge of the world. I think Yuriy may be alive and is one of the 4 gods of ishgal, but only time will tell.

Re: Fairy Tail Zero, Tale of Fairy Ice Trail, Fairy Tail Blue Mistral and Fairy Girls

Both stories on young Gray and Mavis are really good. They give a good understanding of their childhood. The artist, Shirato Yuusuke (for Fairy Tail Ice Trail), who does the drawing is pretty good. There is another one called Fairy Tail Blue Mistral, a story on Wendy, looks good as well. I haven't read the story yet, but it looks promising and the artwork is nice too. :super

Hmmm... Besides the spin-off for FT Zero and Ice Trail, Blue Mistral can also be added to the discussion.

Edit: Actually there is a 4th spin-off titled Fairy Girls in which the series started since last August. I'm not sure if anyone read it besides those mentioned above. It has also been scanlated. :)

Re: Fairy Tail Zero & Ice Trail

The story is about Gray and he is the main focus in the story here. It is only natural for him to be centralised in the series. The numerous battles around him are therefore a way to feature his ice ability as well as portraying his childhood life. Gildarts appears to be like a mentor to him at the moment. :^_^

Re: FT Specials (Most recent: 28/03/15 - Fairy Tail of the Dead Meeeeeeeeen)

So it was Zeref who taught her Fairy Law ? God damn what a monster
Anyway, at this rate, it feels Zeira is really nothing but an illusion, probably Mavis doing

Nice Chapter. Zeref practically built FT considering he taught the founders magic and even taught Law to Mavis. Mavis also added 'fairy' to the name since here the spell is just called Law. I wonder if he also taught her fairy glitter and maybe had a hand in Lumen Historie or the idea behind it. Wouldn't be surprising. He's a beast to put it mildly. The past Zeref who was evil would have been a hell of a guy.
His magic repertoire is absurd. Difficult to see how Zeref fighting all out can be defeated.
Also, in the flashback, Mavis was standing awfully close to zeref. I wonder why his black magic didn't affect her then?

This chapter was very boring. I think so for me.

So if I understand that correctly Fairy Law is originally Black Magic. It could actually be that the magic Zeref is using to kill his surroundings (uncontrolled) is actually a variation of "Law". Zeref's only named magic "Repentance" sounds a bit similar (in the way of how it is named). Mavis use of that spell, however, could be an immense spoiler to the future of Fairy Tail. We basically have an arc about a good guy being "infested" by something evil right now (Gray) and there is a lot of foreshadowing about our main character being about to be overtaken by a demon in the future. I personally smell Fairy Law to be the magic that can overcome that transformations. But what might happen? Gray would be possible I think, but who might use it? Laxus might not be in this arc, neither will Makarov. Natsu probably won't be able to use that kind of magic. My only guess would be Erza.. Or Mavis, of course. But she's only a ghost. Lets stop the off topic. I totally do not think that we have a serious cliffhanger. Obviously Mavis won't be dying before she founded Fairy Tail. But that spell might have shortened her life span.

So Fairy Law is something that was taught to Mavis by Zeref. Honestly, they should've just named the guild after him. It does make the interaction in the main storyline between Zeref and Mavis that much more interesting. I'm curious to see if he made any other contributions to the guild.

Really interesting. I wonder how the current FT members would react to the fact that Zeref taught Mavis all this stuff, even the hardcore spells like fairy law

As far as I understand Law is something different from Fairy Law, but on which Fairy Law was based upon, Zeira even states that Zeref told that to use Law properly takes years of preparation, probably like it takes years to accumulate enough chakra to make Tsunade's Byakugou seal.

They don't seem different to me. Fairy law just has 'Fairy' to the Law original name. As for the prep time, well it's a big and hax spell so it's expected that it will take time to learn it properly. The years of preparation is to learn and become experienced enough to use the spell not the amount of time needed to cast it. Mavis herself casted it immediately just that Zerira wasn't sure she'd be able to execute properly.

The effect could be the same but at least according to MangaStream translation, it is clear that Malvis used an incomplete form of the Law spell, and may have paid it with her life (since in some previous chapters it is stated that the girl should die), but what girl? I think it is Zeira, my theory about it is that Malvis really dies and Zeira give her life to save Malvis'.

Also Law destroys all that's bad while leaves all that's good, Fairy Law is still different it destroys anyone that is perceived as an enemy/threat to the caster. while the effect is similar in some cases, it may not be always so.

Well perception of good/bad varies on the user. The Grimoire Law Hades came up with is likely just a law that will works opposite to Fairy Law since Hades was evil at the time.
Mavis using an incomplete version of Law is likely due to her inexperience with the spell. Ofcourse you may have a point, but I find it highly unlikely that they are that different.

As far as the manga goes Fairy Law and Grimoyre Law they creates an attack that inlficts heavy damage in anyone the caster sees, in its heart as an enemy, it is stated in Fairy Tail 66.

It can also somehow probe the heart of the caster so they can't really lie to the magic, as we can see in Fairy Tail 125 when Laxus tried to use it against the guild and the city.

Law on the other hand saves anything the caster sees as good and anihilates anything the caster sees as evil. As you can see in the latest Fairy Tail Zero:

I really think that Fairy Law is a downgraded version of Law.

Well like I said you could be right but I think otherwise. Based on the heart, it's possible that the current wielders of fairy law simply aren't taught to use the magic to its extreme to prevent deaths, therefore even while perceiving others as enemies, they don't think of killing them. I believe that if Mavis had used the spell on a human, she wouldn't have killed him/her either; that's just my opinion though. If that's the case, then Fairy Law could perhaps be a bit of a weaker version than the original law but my main argument though was that they don't work differently though they could have different effects (i.e one might kill, the other doesn't).

All of the different Laws destroy those which the user sees as their enemies, but Fairy Law seems to have a little more depth to it than the others. They are still basically the same, except there may be some varying factor to each to justify their different names.
