So am a newbie (obviously) but started playing casually over the summer. And the Ishtar summer race taught me that I needed to either dive completely in or just get out before gacha salt gets me. The next event is NeroFest? How do I prepare for that?

Any advice is welcome

Except Waifu and Husbando... can figure that one out myself.

For real, if you wanna play the game, be prepared for endless hours of endless grinds ,
gacha summons salt, temptation to whale and all other horrible things

Jinx!!! Welcome to the addiction support group Fate Grand Order thread.

My advice is simple. Have fun! Everything else doesn't matter. Also don't get sucked into buying quartz unless...

A - You wish to set your money on fire.
B - There is a guaranteed summon event happening (They happen like twice a year)

In terms of gameplay advice. Don't underestimate the power of a three star. Some of them are kind of awesome. Especially when your starting out. Cu for example is amazing.

I should also add that the story does get progressively better as you get further in the game. Early on it seemed like they weren't 100% sure how to write a story for a game like this. But eventually it gets to a point where the story is actually a pretty damn good visual novel.

I would phrase that advice slightly differently. "Grail for love." My grails have gone to Mordred (lvl100), Beach Martha(lvl90), Kiara(lvl100), and Raikou(lvl100).

If you can't remember you must be building a pretty nice team. Mine was Liz Lancer but it was random when I started playing. Then later, when they allowed you to pick, we got one we could choose and I picked Carmilla. Which is actually the same person as Liz just older. So I embraced my destiny of becoming a Liz collector.

My very first Grail was Moedred. Any tier list you look at will not have her anywhere near the top. Some even put her near the bottom. But in my heart she's #1.

It's a judgement call.

Cu Original is basically the defensive master. With evades, guts, HP restore/debuff clearing.
Cu Prototype is basically the offensive version. With evades and some crit skills.

So the argument can be made for either one but, as I'm sure you've noticed, servants die really fast in FGO. And Cu is most valued for his survivabilty. Which he is awesome at. Him and Mash both are some of the best for that role.

Carmilla is legitimately one of my favorite servants in the game. The way she plays with her super high NP gain is just too fun.

I'll pretend it was pun.

And you should give swimsuit Kiyohime a chance sometime. The gimmick with her is that she has stupidly strong buster cards because they hit 6 times per card. Making her one of the few servants who can gain respectable amounts of NP or Crit stars with her high damage Buster Cards. An Arts, Buster, Buster chain will net you quite a bit of NP. An Quick, Buster, Buster chain will net you stars. You can further boost that with her skill which allows her to buff her own Buster Cards for up to 30% 3 turns. And she has the berserker passive that boosts buster cards by 12%.

So she's just a super reliable Buster Card specialist.

By the way Jinx. I'm assuming you know this, but just in case you don't seeing as you started fairly recently, the upcoming Nerofest event is going to be amazing

The important thing about it is that it's a lottery event. Which in FGO is the most efficient way to get a bunch of things you need to strengthen servants. You essentially use a resource you can farm to pull items out of a prize box. Which isn't as random as it seems because you can empty them and get everything, then reset the box and do it all over again. It will net you piles of QP, Skill Gems, Embers, and some other stuff.

So if you ever went to power your self up to maximum grinding degeneracy this is the time to do it. It will power up your servants in a huge way.

The downside is that this event in particular isn't very new player friendly. The higher difficulties missions, which make farming easier are going to probably be a bit much. But still, do what you can and the rewards are still going to be pretty great.

You can take a look at the event quest here. You can see what the enemies will be like. For best results you probably want to farm the highest AP one you can do reliably.

Truth be told you probally wont be able yo clear Nerofest.
So i recommend you just focus on story.

In case you wanna try, save as many apples as you can, and farm resources to roll the roullete.

Nerofest is a famous anual event, because you can roll for resources infinitelly as long as you farm. There are some crazy players that spend over 200+ golden apples on these events.
It also has VERY high difficult challege quests. If you couldnt clear the summer ones, dont even waste your time

I don't know. When I was starting out I relied a lot on support units. With those you can do lot even before you get a beefy team put together.

As for the high difficulty quests those are like an extra thing. Very optional. I sometimes don't bother with them.

I suspect you'll be able to clear all the way up to advanced pretty comfortably. Keep in mind the lottery box is going to give out CE's that doubles the damage of the unit it's on for the event.

So it's easier than it might seem.

How is everyone's degenerate farming marathon going?

No luck getting Nero, or an additional Nero Bride, and still no Jeanne ;-; I did get two Carmilla, so not a total lost, and manage to have Cheer for Master drop twice, so don't even need to by the last one in the shop. Already gotten to the 11th box, and still have a bunch of apples left, so now I can just grind for the shop. Best of all, all the experience has allowed me to get most of my most used servants to lv80+!

8 boxes farmed so far as I've also been putting time into Azur Lane
Have rolled some tickets to get event CE's which I got all of, but not without a welcomed KScope and Nito, and a not-so welcome Emiya haha.

So far completed only two of the high diff (12 labors and parade of Hassans; came close to finishing the dragon one); rolled my tickets and got Nero Bride. Decided to use some quartz and got Zhuge Waver and cute Stheno. On the 7th lottery. Also getting close to grailing Ozy. Feel accomplished.

Prolly have farmed more than in any lotto event before, thanks to a bit more free time than usual The last node really helps, bc it's very easy to three turn with Surfer Mo, which makes it just a bunch of clicking while I do some other (more fun) stuff. Currently somewhere between 50-100 boxes, that's plenty for me.

And yet, I've read of people who cleared hundreds of boxes by now. Not sure how that's even possible without going insane

Congratz Cres, that's some nice luck righ there Just be prepared to get disappointed sooner or later, the gacha can be merciless xD
Then again, with Ozy, Nero Bride and Waver you already got yourself some very good and helpful Servants. Merlin's going to be in the next banner, starting in two days or so, you gonna try rolling for him too? :3
