I kinda disagree there Leon. I think MK: Deadly Alliance and MK: Deception were both fantastic. They put so much work in detailing all the characters' backgrounds and fighting styles and history. As well as give you a LOT of stuff to work towards in the Krypt - making the whole sometimes tedious cycle of fighting in the Arena mode feel more worthwhile and enjoyable. I even liked the RPG aspects of both games as they helped you get familiar with all the MK characters and make it an adventure at the same time. (Though there definitely were flaws.)Mortal Kombat would be my hands down favorite if it was just including the first installments in the series, but after Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (my FAVORITE fighting game) the series went downhill, to the point where it's now a shadow of its former self
MK: Armageddon, while still occasionally fun, wasn't as enjoyable, though. That game was pretty much just making all the MK characters ever available to play as, nothing else. They cut down the styles to only one style and one weapon style, instead of three from MK: Deception. To boot, the fighting styles aren't as interesting anymore (unless this is the first MK game you played, anyway) and it was only fun to fight as a few select characters like Rain that hadn't been in the past two games, but there was really nothing in it that kept you wanting to play it. And the worst part is that there wasn't much of a Krypt anymore - not much hidden content to work towards anymore. For me, that's the only game so far that's indicated that the series has started going downhill.
But I love all the games before Armageddon, and that's definitely a lot, so that's enough for me to say it's my favorite fighting series.
