Part 2 is up.

And we're finishing up with part 3.
Thank you for conducting this interview.
It was helpful and interesting.
:^_^

Which versions does everybody plan to play?

Personally, I'm definitely going Birthright and Revelation. Conquest is a maybe. I really like being able to fight side battles. Though I like western Noir kingdom aesthetic better. So, if the characters are good enough in Birthright, I could totally see myself playing Conquest while I wait for Revelation just to get a feel for that cast too.

I am interested in playing Birthright first since this is the first time a Fire Emblem game is set in medieval Japan-like setting.
The other two games are interesting as well, but I would like to side with the main character's real family first. I would like to play Nohr after since it seems the closest to older Fire Emblem titles in terms of gameplay according to many sources.
But what I know for sure is that I won't be buying the game for at least one year, since I am extremely busy studying :emocat

I didn't hear that Europe now has a release date, nohr can I find anything on it :/
But going from awakening's release, there's probably going to be a 2.5 month delay on it :( I've managed to avoid any spoilers thus far which is a huge effort on my part xD But it will get harder and harder to avoid them from now on, so I guess I have to lie very low regarding anything fates related for a few months :P
Yeah, I understand the situation very well. :(
Oceania always receives things last.
And the nohr in your sentence caught my attention. XD

I know this a little bit late, but this is the launch trailer for Fates:

I like how there is continuous advertising for the recent Fire Emblem titles. How I wish Radiant Dawn had similar advertising before it was released....

Well it's admirable that your putting your studying over your gaming habits. Can't say I always had the fortitude to manage that.:amuse

Yeah, Nintendo kind of just left Radiant Dawn to die. It wasn't my favorite Fire Emblem game but it certainly deserved more buzz than it got.

I'm still looking into it, but it seems Fire Emblem Fates will be getting a European Release on the 19th of April 2016.
Here's a finnish website I was linked to which had the 19th as the release date: http://www.puolenkuunpelit.com/kauppa/product_info.php?products_id=84891
Still no news on an Australian release date, however :(

And with that Nintendo Direct that we had today, Australia finally got a release fate for Fire Emblem Fates in May 21st. To go along with that, Australia (and I think Europe gets this as well) will get an expanded Special Edition of sorts, coming with the Game cartridge with all three games and the artbook, but we also get a steel book and a double-sided poster. The video below shows what we get in Special Edition.

Sweet. I'm still playing Birthright (probably 3/4ths of the way through) and I intend to play Conquest next.

As all the reviews said it's a very similar game to Awakening. Though to be honest I'd rank the story a bit lower than most of the reviews did. The Hoshido side is very much a cut and paste standard RPG campaign. Doesn't help matters that the character roster is structured in a way that kind of writes characters out of the main story and relies on the Hoshido royal family characters almost entirely. Sadly those royal family characters are really plain and so is Corwin. Which is less than ideal.

You spend a little time getting to know the characters on the Noir side in the prologue before you make your choice and I feel pretty comfortable saying at this point that Conquest has the better group of core characters; and I think that is going to make for a better campaign.

I don't want to give the impression I'm not having fun with it, because I am, but I do feel a little... "annoyed" I guess with the way Birthright is written sometimes. I'm pretty much in it for the character that looks exactly like Tharja at this point.:pleased
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---
Birthright cleared.

Favorite character. Rajhat (Whose name is even an anagram for Tharja.)

The first fourth and last forth were good. Middle part of the story is a bit like they didn't have enough story to make a full game so they packed it with fluff. Also it seems strange to say, considering Fire Emblem is a japanese franchise, but the Hoshido Japanese aesthetic twist on things seemed out of place with Fire Emblems usual medieval aesthetic. It's not just appearance either there are game play differences.

Like Tomes become Scrolls. Spears become Naginata's. Swords become Katana's. Axes become Clubs. With slight stat differences. And while you have Samurai class characters you get no Armored Knights at all. Which just never felt right to me.

Looking forward to trying Conquest now. You encounter most of those characters from that side on Birthright side and they are a much more colorful bunch looking forward to finding out more about them.

So Fire Emblem Fates came out on the 21st in Australia, and I picked up my Special Edition preorder as soon as the store opened. I've currently beaten Birthright and I'm up to Chapter 15 in Conquest.
I'd have to say that so far, I'm liking Conquest a lot more even though I really loved Birthrights story, and how it really did trash my feelings in some parts. It was a really good game and with an incredible story to boot, I really found myself immersed in it. I'd give Birthright ~9.5/10 right now, but I'll give it a replay when I finish Conquest and Revelation and see how I feel about it after that.

Another aspect of Fire Emblem Fates I'm loving is the music. Its great, and the way it differs through different worldly genres is really great. One of my favourite bits of music comes from the 'Dark Song' in the Chapter 14 cutscene from Conquest.
It really shows off the diverse music and differing cultures in the games, which is another thing I've loved about them so far. I'll post again once I've finished all three games with my final thoughts, but so far I'm having an incredible experience with it.

It seems I'm losing my faith in my army. It's just always the same, everyone gets done within some attacks. Sakura has it hard these days, healing her comrads over and over again. And yeah, at some point she dies and my hope fades away. Last standing, Ryoma. Just as always. It turns out he can solo more than half of the enemies on his own. But at the moment there are just like two people left, he gets defeated. And then I can start from the beginning once again. Jeez.

Nothing to be done but swallow your pride and turn down the difficulty. We've all been there.:amuse

Ah, the struggle. It can't be helped sometimes, maybe try some of the DLC to level up easier? I bought Map Pack 1 and it helped a bit with being able to grind some experience up. Another tip I can give which would help is going into other people's castles and taking them on in their castle. Seize their castle (or defeat them), and you can either recruit that person or obtain a skill which is really nice. There are a lot of castles which are set up so you can easily seize them and get a skill, so if you get some skills like Aegis and Pavis, or counter and countermagic, then that might just help you enough to get over the line. It will take time, but its more than worth it imo.

So I had a question. Since the Fire Emblem wiki didn't explain this well (imo there was a lack of information), I wondered what the function of amiibo's are in Fates. I've heard you can do quite a lot with them, but I was wondering if they can join your army so you can play them by yourself. As for now I've Robin and Ike as an amiibo (I want to get Marth soon, they're really cheap where I live) and I still need to get a NFC reader since I have a 3DS.

I never tried any of that stuff but if I remember correctly the amiibo makes them show up in your castle where they challenge you to fight and if you win they join your party.

It was something like that.

So, I thought I may as well ask how people are enjoying Fire Emblem Heroes so far. I unfortunately don't have a phone that'll allow me to play it which is a terrible shame, but hopefully I will later this year. Also, is anyone looking forward to Fire Emblem Warriors (Switch and New 3DS) or Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia? Nintendo can take my money now tbh as I can't wait for them to drop :D (Then again, I still need to pay off my switch first as well as Zelda BOTW LE xD )

Fire Emblem Heroes is amazing.
I'll have to check it out. I was kind of curious but I'm generally not one for mobile games.

You can probably play it on pc via Andriod emulators. Like Bluestacks for example.

I'm interested in everything Fire Emblem that Nintendo gets out there.

Taking a wait and see approach with Fire Emblem Warriors though mainly because I'm not sure how well they will be able to adapt the roleplaying mechanics and affections system stuff with a Musou game. Which they were able to do a little bit for the Dragon Quest game. But if it turns out to just be Dynasty Warrior with a Fire Emblem reskin... I'm not going to play that.

The thing that's most interesting to me is the New Fire Emblem game due out next year on the Switch. I may buy a console just for that if it's as good as Awakening or Fates.

Wow, I did my first draw for characters in Fire Emblem Heroes and from what I'm reading I got ludicrously lucky.

I guess people have been rerolling accounts in order to get one of the 5-star heroes but in my first 5 draws I got 2 of them. Lucina and Fae. And a 4 star too.

I can see why people want them so bad though. Lucina is insanely powerful in this game.

Tiki is supposed to be one of the best characters in the game so that's not bad.

Tae is a dragon too. Not sure what game she's from but she's pretty powerful(though she looks like a pokemon). But she pales in comparison to Lucina who is a damn monster. She's hitting for like 30x2 everything regardless of unit type. I don't think anything so far has survived an attack.

Since I flew through the story missions. I got 20 more orbs and went to the shrine. Only got a 4-star Lissa this time.:( Which makes my team...

Lucina(5-Star Swordswoman)
Tae (5-Star Dragon)
Lissa (4-Star Priest)
Catria (4-Star Pegasus Rider)

Also got Lonqu which is kind of upsetting because they made one of my favorite characters a 3-star. How dare they...:nerve

I may be addicted to this game now. And it's all your fault Blue.:amuse

Some basic things I've learned in the over the course of playing that everybody should know before they start...

- Upgrade your Castle ASAP. To fully upgrade it costs 30 orbs and you get permanent boost of x2 experience and a nicer looking home screen.
- Besides that save all orbs to use at the shrine in allotments of 20.(as you essentially get 1 free unit that way)
- Don't look down on non five star units. They can be promoted a star at level 20 all the way up to five stars.
- Never merge units unless the unit benefiting is 5 star. Because stats are reset when you promote anyway.
- Use consumables if you feel like it. The game gives you a ton early on via challenge quests.

I'm very jealous of your Tharja.

I pulled a third 5 star as well though. Ended up with the loli-dragon from Awakening, Nowi. She's much stronger than Rae due her high defense and ability to counterattack regardless of range. But she loses to Tharja in sexiness without question.:darn

I've been replaying Fire Emblem Awakening recently and I have to say it still is the best Fire Emblem game that I've played. The story is still really engaging, and I find myself having a lot of fun with it. My excitement for Echoes, and Fire Emblem Warriors is getting bigger by the day too so it will be a long wait once I get my Switch. Also...
Your family can't get mad at you if you refuse to choose a side
