Not once it's released, but maybe sometime later. From my understanding it's basically a Dynasty Warriors game with FE characters and a bit of flavor stuff to remind of FE. The gameplay doesn't look that great to me, so I may end up skipping it if the post-release gameplay videos don't charm me enough.

I'm waiting for that 2018 FE game for the Switch.

Same.

I'm interested but I like FE for the RPG parts and Dating Sim mechanics. Which I don't expect the Warriors game to have. It might be a fun thing to mess around with when I'm playing the 2018 Fire Emblem next year but not something I would buy on it's own. Much less buy a Switch, which I don't currently own.

That's getting me super hyped. Mainly because there was a leak about a month ago that nobody could confirm that said there was going to be a timeskip. And it also said a lot of other things that made me quite happy. If all that turns out to be true, and it seems like it might be, this game will 100% be causing me to buy a Switch.

Again, it is still all unconfirmed. But the time skip thing was apparently real and I don't see anything else in there that turned up false so it's seeming more and more credible.

They are all going to team up at the end all three houses will work together to beat the final boss I think that will happen.

Just was looking at the voice cast for FE: Three Houses. Apparently Aoi Yuki is in this!

I really hope they let her go full Tanya at least once.

@GrySun, @Lady pompom.

Finally got the chance to sink some real time into Three Houses yesterday night. I'm all in on this game now. I like who many layers of systems there are. Though I feel like I wasted a lot of time early on because I was figuring things out and understanding how it all fits together.

Like I didn't realize that you fight free battles that don't take up an activity if you pick the ones without a sword. Weapon durability is the other real concern there.

Also didn't realize that 90% of the time you want to explore instead of doing seminars and such. Because that raises your teacher level the fastest and gives you all kinds of stat bonuses, as well is being the best at motivating your class.

Also didn't realize that bonding with characters from other houses lowers their stat requirements to recruit and that there is no reason not to get somebody from another house to help with your assignment mission at the end of the month.

Once I got the hang of all of it though I really love the way they've set this up.

Hm. Which difficulty are you on? All battles have swords with cost on Hard. So far I do exploration one time a month only, the rest of the times the seminars for extra learning. Haven't done any non-mandatory battles yet.

Weapon durability only goes down fast if you use the combat arts too often. Gambits are the real overpowered broken mechanic this game I'd say. Maybe exploring gives teacher level the fastest, but that alone won't teach people the skills which I think is most important.

I find the missions a bit easy though. I had everyone learn Faith and literally everyone can use Heal now, trivializing many things.

Normal. I always play on normal the first time through unless it's super easy. As for weapon durability. If your grinding the free auxiliary missions it does tend disappear faster than you'd think. Which I guess won't be possible on hard.

Well the advantage with Exploration isn't just about the teacher level, which has a bunch of benefits that come with it. It's also about motivating students and more teaching per week. With that you can keep all the students you teach at max motivation. Which means more targeted skill gains during the school week. It also enables you to do some bonding which lowers stat requirements for recruitment, and allows you to increase your own skills via the other teachers.

Like, lets say you spend the free day at a seminar. You get a skill boost to two stats and half motivation for everybody there up the maximum of 6 I think.

If you spend a free day exploring you can fish, garden, and answer letters for free which boosts teacher level. Then every meal allows you to boost 2 students to max motivation (and as a bonus get you a nice chunk of teacher exp) at the cost of 1 activity point and therefor during the following week you can give them more stat points during the instruction phase. Finding lost items and gift giving allows you to boost even more motivation. So during the school week your always teaching at max motivation.

In addition to that because of the teacher level I'm at the beginning of the month 8 and I've got 5 activity points to spend and can instruct 5 students per week. So you get high stat gain from that both for my students who are getting taught a lot and my character who can use left over points for facility training.

Isn't it super easy though? Usually in FE games Normal is the easy mode, hard the normal mode and Lunatic the hard one. I'd expect you to get bored with normal, especially once the early game ends which is usually the hardest part in those games except for Conquest.

Not doing any grinding, but what kills the durability the most for me are the combat arts. They're too sweet not to use in some situations which slowly adds up.
Seminars do well enough in terms of motivation raising, and they also teach much more than the MC teachings that consume motivation, at least it feels that way. The fastest are probably the student goals.
The bonding you can do is just for 1 student though no? Can't go for a meal with everyone, and the dialogues are a once-a-month thing.

I got 4 activity points at the month of the goddess festival, while only having done exploration once a month, so compared to your numbers I think that's pretty similar.

I dunno, not playing with any guides the first time through, and I find seminars much more valuable than you see them.

As for difficulty. It feels like a normal difficulty to me. It's not particularly hard but after the "normal" difficulty of the Conquest route of Fates that's kind of refreshing. That said it's not thoughtless like Birthright was. I'll probably turn the difficulty up on my next playthrough but right now I'm quite happy with how it's playing.

The goddess festival is on month 6 and I'm literally on the first week after that so we're pretty much at the same point and I'm a teaching level higher. And this is without me realizing for a month or so how great Exploring is. And by bonding do you mean the tea thing? That's one character at a time but it's purely for bonding purposes. The lunch part is two characters. And both can be done as many times as you've got activity points you want to spend (and tea of course). Though not on the same characters obviously.

What I've been doing is Exploring most weeks except the last of the month(where you don't benefit from motivation as there is no class) then using that week to do battles in preparation for the big monthly assignment. I'm still early obviously but what from what I could tell the seminars give a decent chunk of stats early but investing in teacher level gives a greater chunk later.

Conquest was it‘s own thing, even Normal was supposed to challenge you more than Birthright Hard I think.

Thought you said you were on month 8? But yes then you have 1 teaching level higher, but I‘d think my units have learned more. Seminars really give a nice amount, and teach the teacher too.

Interesting approach though. Could try doing at least one more exploring than just once a month to see how much it changes.

One change I noticed in AI between this and Fates that has been a godsend is that, even on normal, it's more reactive.

That was a problem in the 3DS ones. The AI was clearly programmed in a restrictive way that made it very slow and non-aggressive unless you enter combat range. I've noticed in Three Houses, though the maps and encounters are fairly simple, the AI doesn't just sit there and wait to die all the time. Even on like free maps the enemy is programmed to advance on you.

Most bosses still sit just there though and I wish they would program those to be more aggressive. Like once they start taking damage they shouldn't just sit there.

I find the lines and predictions showing you who the AI will attack to be absolutely priceless. Makes things so much more convenient with the planning, but also easier in a way. If I move this unit closer, how many enemies switch from their previous target to it? Helps a lot.

As for that AI behavior, it depends on the maps. In this game they also often stand around and wait for you to come in range, but when you do you aggro the whole group, including even some further back. 3DS games had that in a way too, but more restricted than Three Houses yes.

As for bosses, it‘s probably so it‘s harder to rush the „defeat boss“ maps? With them standing on a field that heals them and gives extra avoid and armor, been like that in every FE game. There are some bosses that moved in previous games, so Three Houses will probably have some too.

Hey Jammin! I will sum up our playing:

Pom: put the characters there!
Gry: But that is not the most strategical positioning!
Pom: But I want my shipping points!

:XD That is usually how it goes for battles. As for the exploring/seminar we thought its better to raise his skills first so he can teach better. But I love how flexible it is that you can teach what you want and see the results in battle of how the students grow :zomg

Really enjoying my time with Three Houses so far. Have been fortunate enough to sink in over 50 hours and finish a playthrough (first one was Black Eagles) and currently starting the Blue Lions journey. Just feels really nice to get into a new FE again, and it's currently shaping up to be one of my favourite Switch titles.

The important question is who was your waifu on the first playthrough?

Did you speedrun it to finish it in 50 hours only? I feel i‘m nowhere near the end yet and may have 10 hours.

Haha, Gry just needs to think of that as the challenge!

Sure things like grouping up a pair of ranged units makes little tactical sense but they're cute together so... make it work.

Ended up being Marianne as I recruited her, didn't regret. Only *insert number of other waifus left* runs to go Pepega

Nah didn't speedrun it, just no-lifed it a bit haha. My Hard Classic run of Blue Lions is going fast so far though haha
