I'm going slowly but only because, like a crazy person, I've been recruiting students like mad and putting a lot of thought into everything in order to make that happen.

So far I've got Lysithea, Annette, and Leonie. And quite a few others are within reach.

It's getting to be decision time though on whether I'm willing to condemn my character to being a Jack of All trades in order to get myself a waifu army. The rational part of my brain is telling me to start building out my character in a way that is combat effective. But my heart is like "Hey, get the Bow up C and you can have Mercedes...and Ridng for Marianne"

So relatable I always try to put two characters one next to the other in order to get A supports 90% of my main cast have max support between them at this point of my play through.

Have been fortunate enough to sink in over 50 hours and finish a playthrough (first one was Black Eagles)

50 hours?!? I'm 50 hours in and I'm only at the second month of Part II . Maybe because I spent half of that time exploring the monastery and tried to recruit everyone there haha

There's another way to recruit units, you can just go to the market and buy gifts then give them to the unit you want. It's a lot faster and it works pretty well. I've noticed that a bit too late so I missed 3 characters (Ferdinand, Bernadetta and Linhhardt). Might have to sacrifice some other expenses if you plan on doing this though, because gifts are pretty expensive.




Now about the game itself, I'm honestly surprised by how good it is. My first Fire Emblem was Sacred Stones and I haven't played Awakening or Fates yet but instead went by order from FE 1 to FE 3 (Going for Genealogy once I'm done with Three Houses) so it really blew my expectations. The support system particularly. Back in SS there was a limited amount of support that you could have so the fact that there isn't any limit in Three Houses really made this game more enjoyable. The diversity and character development through the support conversations, from a Golden Deer perspective, also adds a sort of charm to the game and makes me want to get every reachable support out there. For the story line itself, It definitely has more depth than any of my other FE experiences so far and it's pretty good. I'm always looking forward to playing the game whenever I have free time and I sure hope that it sells well so we can maybe get another FE on the Switch.

Of course I'm comparing the game to the ones that Ive played, maybe Fates and Awakening or even Echoes were similar to FE16 but I couldn't tell.

Or you can just gain supports with those you want and recruiting them will be easier. At least that‘s what happened to me, I gave lots of gifts to Marianne and after the B support she herself came to me to talk about moving classes.

But, there‘s only so much deployment space, can‘t field everyone so I question how good recruiting many characters even is.

Other than Marianne I got Ignatz, but that one was a C support and my MC just happened to have the skills he likes. I was slacking off too much with training the MC and he only has C in swords and authority, rest is D or E..

I just made it past the timeskip, finally. (life needs to stop interfering with my gaming).

Absolutely love the structure of this. With the monastery and everything. Still sort of torn about which girl to go for. Leaning Edelgard or Dorothea.

The Black Eagle characters I really recomend are Dorothea, Ferdinand. Also Bernedette but mainly for the great support conversations she has. Particularly with Ferdinand. Bernie x Ferdie is law in my mind.

What's up everyone- Im new to the Fire Emblem thread nice to meet ya. But anyway I finished Three Houses not too long ago and I'm currently on New Game+. Super depressed now that it's over. Plz send help and ease my pain.

I'm going to try and get back into Three Houses tomorrow. Stopped playing part way through Dimitri's route, just felt like it had it's life sucked out a bit when I hit that point 120 odd hours in. I think this is because some dickhead decided to spoil me about some FE3H stuff in general and since then I just haven't enjoyed game content as much as I otherwise would. Has anyone else found this?

Much to my shame I'm still not done with my first playthrough. Will pick it up again today. After I beat my branch of the Edelgard route though I'll probably hold off on my next playthrough until all the DLC is out.

Finally completed my first play through. I went with romancing Edelgard in the end. Not my favorite choice, honestly. As her character is just a bit too wooden for my tastes but it really seemed like the right way to go storywise and I wanted the storybook ending.

Other pairings that happened in the end were Ferdinand X Bernidetta and Caspar X Dorothea. Which I actually enjoyed more than the main one, honestly. Ferdi X Berni in particular is was really good.

Story wise I'm pretty pleased. The peak of this route was the midpoint, I think. Towards the end it got a bit predictable but otherwise fine. You pretty much knew for the last three months exactly where the story was going and that's exactly where it went. Wish they'd worked at least one twist in there. Looking forward to eventually going back and doing one of the other routes.

oh so there is a fire emblem thread? three houses have been my Game of the Year, Finished all 3 routes, i still have the church route to do but i'll play it after they drop all the DLC.

I was the most satisfied with Golden deer route (conclusion and story wise)
I liked Blue lion but Dimitri is a pain in the ass during the first half of the 2nd part (people who played it will know what i'm talking about) but the character development is interesting
As for Edelgard route i'm conflicted, wasn't satisfied with the ending. Don't wanna spoil tho

loved the story but you have to play 2 or more routes to get all the points. I didn't like the fact that the 1st part of each house is the same, so whenever i started new game+, it only got different when i reached the 2nd part.

@Jammin so who did you recruit and marry? Bernadetta was my favorite character with the Black Eagle, her support skits were always funny. That's one of the thing i loved the most about this game, each character have his own story and personality. They put so much effort into the support conversation and the voice acting. Sadly it's just too much unlocking every support conversation, tried to unlock as much as i cool (yay for 5x diner every sunday)

Catherine is hard to recruit on Black Eagles (minimum level requirement), only with the Golden deer you can recruit her early

its a good thing you didn't get Cyril, dude legit have the most boring dialog in the whole game. He can't put a single sentence without saying lady rhea this, lady rhea that.

You can't recruit Catherine at all on the Black Eagle Edelgard route. She's locked to the church route. Which I discovered too late.

I ended up marrying Edelgard because I thought that fit best for my characters story. Didn't love it though from a romance angle. I would have preferred Dorothea or Leonie. Believe it or not I actually recruited every recruit able female character in the game on my route. So I had some options.

Bernie was great. But I ended up pretty happy with her romance with Ferdinand. There was this great moment right after she starts to get some feelings for him that she discovers he was actually the fiance she ran away from. It just really worked out well. So that ending for that was really nice.

Also good was Caspar and Dorothea. Because Caspar and her have this nonromantic dynamic the whole way through that's pretty close then at the end it she sort of has this realization that he's an attractive rich guy who she actually likes being around. That too worked out really well and I was pleased with that ending too.

I will play again I'm just waiting for the DLC. Not sure which house I'll go with. I'm divided on which house to go for because the Edelgard route makes Claude seem a lot more likable than Dimitri. I like the knight stuff more though so we'll see.

Yeah its true that for the story i was tempted to pick Edelgard. But then i was like nah, Bernie all the way. Didn't like Leonie "Geralt this, Geralt that" lol, I can't believe you recruited every females, your character must've been a mess if you leveled weapons/abilities to C just to recruit

I knew i would play every single house so i didn't want to recruit people from others houses each run, to make each run as fresh as possible. I think Dorothea ended with Ferdinand in my Black Eagle run probably because i didn't unlock her A support dialog with Caspar

It's hard for me to say who i like the most between Dimitri and Claude but yeah Dimitri is all serious and his route is pretty dark. Claude is the easygoing guy of the bunch, but he's smart and dig around so if you play Golden Deer you'll get to know the whole story about Sothis, Rhea, Nemesis, the 10 weapons etc...

On another note about Dimitri, he's the strongest. Dude have straight up broken stats. His personality get super annoying at some point but he's the dude with the biggest character growth

I did make Petra an assassin but honestly I feel like both assassin and swordmaster are underpowered in 3 houses. And the cavalry was way overpowered. But I was playing on normal. So maybe that's why.

And, yeah, it took some serious effort to recruit every female character. Lots of gift buying too. All for nothing really because you really can't use that many characters.

they're not. perhaps you felt that way because it's hard to master weapons and classes during the first run. I had a whole mess during my first run, not a single character with weapon to S. With new game+ you kinda get professor max level from the get go and you know what you wanna do. so it's easier to level up proficiency.
I had S+ on sword (sword crit +10 and swordfaire) and S on Bow (bow crit+10) with my Petra. As well as lethality. Her dexterity is off the chart so she had high evasion and high crit, i had like more than 50% chance of crit in most fight in hard and she would dodge almost everything.

Cavalry unit, you need to level up lot of skill. So their abilities are all over the place, forget about getting S+. you'll most likely stop at A+ if you level up Authority as well. Their growth rate ain't that good either because they get the extra mobility

i liked holy knight and dark knight but wasn't a big fan of bow knight (growth rate is trash, proficiency scattery all over the place. beside the extra mobility a mastered sniper class with S+ bow do a better job).

Great knight is not bad, just hard to make. you need high proficiency in riding, heavy armor and axe. A little tip tho, you don't need to get 100% to attempt the exams. a little bit over 60% and you're good to go. just make sure to save before, so if it fail you try again next week. that'll prevent you to waste time raising proficiency and making a jack of all trades. For example if they say you need riding A, you can just stop at riding B+ so you can focus on getting your weapon to S

lol i get where you're coming from, the mobility is nice and when there is a lot of archers you can just unmount. But not many have interest in both flying, axes and lances which make raising proficiency a pain in the ass, results aren't always good and will give you jack of all trades.
Seteth, Cyril, Ashe, Ingrid and Petra are pretty much the only ones that make good fliers. But sniper ashe is a lot better as well as assassin petra.
but Claude is something else when he get his flying class

Everyone can be put on a wyvern, they just have proficiencies that affect how long it takes. I‘d never do it because it sounds boring only fielding wyverns, but it‘s the best class.

Which difficulties did you play so far?

I‘m also rather confused by their dlc policy. Am I supposed to not play the game for a year after it came out and wait for all the dlc to come, or to replay the game for the dlc? Since most will have done all paths by the release of the significant dlcs.
