Man, I'm a Hancock fan and I love Mitsuishi-san's spectrum as Seiyuu and her voice - but that Toei made Hancock reveal her reasons for protecting Luffy from Smoker towards him was just a pile of crap - just like the glowing Kokutou... I kinda liked the filler in the last episode because of that and as it was somehow spine-tingling. But that part of this episode was just too much.

Good grief, I just hope Tate won't have a comeback to ruin the great moments still to come.

The anime is too close to the manga. And there is no way to put "filler" arcs because the crew is not yet back together.

There's always a way to do it that way... Last year's filler about the Strong World introduction showed it. Fuji and Toei halted the regular series to show those four parts of the movie special...

C'mon, I hope Oda takes the rights from Toei when they reach "Saigo no Umi:Shinsekai-Hen" !

I mean see this, they should have wasted time in the center panel with battles everywhere, blood, and don't complain about kids, remember drum, where Luffy was bleeding so much from his hands that it hurt me!
Wouldn't it be fantastic if they showed 5 minutes of fight everywhere, Vice Admirals vs Captains, just regular fight without spoiling they're powers, instead of 5 minutes of comments on Mihawks world strongest slash!

I don't mind the fillers if they are coherent and not repetitive like Boa scene. I already was annoyed by the length last week. We didn't need that much to illustrate Mihawk sentence.
When they drag the scene without adding anything but length (like ganmen spectrum last week) it's just terrible

Why must they constantly keep having that Hancock fanasty, it's so FUC*ING ANNOYING.
And i just love the soundtrack they play when Mihawk comes on the battle field to fight luffy, that music made Mihawk look even more bad ass.

Meh. I wasn't expecting the anime to improve anytime soon lol. They screwed the fight up completely. There was no need to add Jinbei between Mihawk x Luffy imo. lolz @ the "dead battlefield" atmosphere.

Yes, the episode lacked the chaotic feel of a war. And wtf is up with Boa telling Smoker all her plans.

Why is everyone so interested in what's happening in that fog of war around the protagonists? There wasn't anything mentionable in the original story, so why be upset if you're not able to see the chaos but hear a constant noise level? It would be filler - and as we all could see in this episode once again with the Jinbei and Hancock scenes: Fillers (and changes to the original story line) are nothing but crap.

The TV show already is at a low level - no need to go even lower... and btw, animating backgrounds is very expensive work and something no studio could handle with a mere TV series budget. And it's not like we haven't been prepared for this since Sabaody...

Boring episode once again. I got a little feeling of chaos when the Pacifistas started blowing shit up but that was gone really quickly.

Hopefully they don't ruin the climax of the battle.

anyways, I think this recent episode was far better than the previous two episodes with all that Boa fantasy nonsense.

It was quite well done.

Now rereading the manga, I realize that the next two chapters are only around 12 pages long each with alot of double pages. I hope that they won't drag it out too long and make those 2 chapters into 1 episode.

I mean 1 chapter is just a few shocked faces and whitebeard starting to charge. The next chapter after that is just whitebeard charging and beating John Giant and then the walls go up and Akainu does his lava meteor thing. They can easily fit everything in on one episode and still don't feel rushed.

However, I have my doubts, I'm afraid that it'll just turn into slow steaming pieces of crap. sorry. sad to see OP being butchered by the anime. I would really not forgive the animators if they butcher the scene where Whitebeard goes, "I am but one man with one heart ... if you call yourself a pirate, then you choose who to believe in" scene. That was beyond epic when I read it.

Somewhat related note : I just watched the last two Bleach episodes and the animation is AMAZING. I don't understand how Bleach can be animated so well and OP animated so crappy. Money can't possibly be an issues, so what gives?

Different Animationstudios and different Art styles. No matter what though, if you compare Naruto Shippuuden and Bleach, its still a shame that Naruto is often animated bad, too.

Considering the content it was a decent episode and could have been a lot worse. But these 13 spread chapters are starting to really drag these episodes down... I hoped the break and the fillers before the war may have helped a little bit.

One piece fillers would have been ok years ago, but with the current animators I think they would have been rubbish and anoying. I can't explain it but they seem to not be able to portray charm of luffy and the other characters like they used to. the marine base filler was very good and had some of the funnier moments in one piece so far. Now i can imagine it now just being food gags for luffy and hancock scenes.

i wish they would add in fillers of the nw captains, wb commanders and vas kicking butt. them running around and talking to eachother is pretty boring. like with marco, that was baddass.

why do i not feel anything but hate recent episodes so much??? why can't they just make the anime like they did in the beginning of the series? they were original but better!!! I mean OP anime I see nowaday is completely different and worse... Can anyone explain to me why the anime changed like that??? I think the quality of recent anime is completely joke compare to the older ones(for example... the ep that Mihawk slashes Zoro's chest when he lost to him. It was so epic and now??? )...
