Re: Latest Episodes Discussion
Look on the first four episodes and compare them to the first five chapters... You'll find out that there are many changes:
- Luffy's scar isn't explained in the anime.
- The way Shanks and crew find out about Luffy has eaten the DF is changed
- Luffy being introduced on a civil ship being harassed by Alvida - how his journey started hasn't been revealed in more than 11 years of the TV show!
- Alvida's base isn't even mentioned.
- Nami's entrance is way too early.
Those changes were already done in Japan. That doesn't defend the current changes but where is this "close" to the manga?
The problem is not the anime not following the manga. Actually, i'm a fervent of well made fillers, especially in this arc since it is pretty short in the manga, but have potential and it is full of stuff that could serve as a basis for fillers.
I'd love to see NW pirates in action, i'd love to see WB commanders in action, we've heard that they're famous and strong, so showing us NW captains vs VA would've been a good thing. Or WB commanders against some marine Officers. Let's not forget that there's 100000 marines in this war, i'm sure that there is some marines with unique abilities.
So the problem isn't that. And also, the animation sucks compared to Bleach for example (i know it is not the same studio who do this animes), lately Bleach have been receiving quite the treatement, with some really good animation : Ichigo Hollowification, Tousen Hollowification, and many other stuff. Let's forget about Bleach, let's just compare between this arc and Thriller Bark arc, even though the TB arc wasn't really that good (Moria sucked, the SH didn't have some tough opponents like CP9 for example), they did a good job in animating it, and it had one of the best animations ever. Even if the fights weren't that intense, they were well made, and made it entertaining. But, why the MOST IMPORTANT arc so far isn't receiving the same treatement ? Is it because of the lack of budget possibly due to the movie ? Or because of the directors ?
What i'm more interested in is also this : Do japanese who watch the anime actually reacts to this ? Or they just watch these episodes like some kind of idiots (sorry for that) ? Because if so, it explains a lot of stuff... But if not, if the fandom actually reacts to these through the Internet, or whatever other way, then why Toei still insist on not taking this arc to the next level ? Are they so confident about OP popularity, that they don't give a fuck about this anymore ? They can do crappy animation after the war for all I care, but not this arc, because this one have the possibility to stay into the memory of Manga and anime History like when Goku turned SSJ, or when Shinji's EVA turned into berseker mode... Because after this episode, the real WAR will begin, and i'm afraid they will mess up with the epic things that will come after it.
