Blackbeard has his weaknesses in his devil fruit as well. Besides, one of his biggest problems is his arrogant attitude which would probably lead to his downfall.
Well, haki and devil fruits are completely different and we don't really know if the devil fruit negation works through absorbing....If gravity can suck even Devil Fruit powers, I expect it to be able to suck Haki too.
I don't think haki can work, otherwise why wouldn't Luffy use haki to overcome his weakness to water? More like, haki hardens the skin or object it covers, no? But then, invisible armor... but then, I still doubt haki works like a barrier that can prevent direct contact. If true, then masters of haki wouldn't need to fear the sea.I'm not sure how Luffy could prevent Blackbeard from puling him with gravity but i do believe that haki would prevent Blackbeard from taking Luffy's powers.
From what i understand, for Blackbeard to take aways someone's ability, he needs to touch them and imho haki should work like a barrier that prevents direct contact and in that way protects the user from Blackbeard's power.

Yeah, that's a good point, didn't think about that...IIf true, then masters of haki wouldn't need to fear the sea.
Well Haki works separately from DF. It can act as a barrier as well. Didn't Rayleigh show something like that when the elephant charged him? And coating with Haki might allow Luffy retain his elasticity. DD made a comment about how luffy's body was still elastic in gear 4, even to the point that DD's own attacks simply bounced off.I don't think haki can work, otherwise why wouldn't Luffy use haki to overcome his weakness to water? It does, but I'm not sure if it's as good a barrier as thought to be, otherwise devil fruit users would have no reason to fear the water if they could master haki. So I don't think haki prevents direct contact, so it won't help Luffy here. Luffy most likely did something unique with his haki that allowed him to combine its strength with its devil fruit, or he probably can control it the way he did to give him elasticity. I just can't see it working like a shield against Blackbeard.Well Haki works separately from DF. It can act as a barrier as well. As for how Luffy will fight BB, well the latter needs to make contact to negate the fruit. And contact seems to be via his hands because WB was able to use quakes on him when he grabbed his neck. It'll be a matter of Luffy alternating between Haki and his DF for the most part. If he hits BB with the latter touching him, there shouldn't be a problem. That's a lot easier said than done though, especially considering BB is quite a tank. It takes a lot to harm the guy and even then it doesn't seem to be enough.
Agree with this, it's still a part of the body.I don't think Haki acts as a barrier in the literal sense. As the name "hardening" suggests, it hardens your skin, muscles and everything, but it's still your body.
Blackbeard took a Quake Punch to the head and a Bisento slash across the chest despite suffering extra damage only for him to go "Zehahaha!" The only time Blackbeard has been in a true pinch is against Magellan, a rather dubious scene when Oda was suffering hiccups in his writing style.BB can't negate weapons, they're somewhat unchanged by his Yami Yami no Mi, so they could always be an option as Whitebeard proved with his Bisento.
Since BB's body draws in damage, Luffy's aim should be to overwhelm him with attacks that exceed his threshold.
BB's ability only works when he's actually holding on to his opponent.
We all saw how Whitebeard almost defeated Blackbeard with his unrivalled power. Had Whitebeard been able to continuously deal damage being that he already on the verge of death, he'd have won.
It comes down to how much Luffy's attacks can overwhelm BB and for how long they can leave him open to more attacks as we saw Whitebeard do.
That slash did incapacitate him, and created the opening for Whitebeard to deal the Quake Punch. What would have the result been had he been able to deal a 2nd punch? We do not know, but it could possibly have turned the tides completely, but Whitebeard was simply too exhausted (which is an understatement) to do any more than that.Blackbeard took a Quake Punch to the head and a Bisento slash across the chest despite suffering extra damage only for him to go "Zehahaha!"
