Anime Hunter X Hunter Anime- Fall 2011

Since I have a premium membership I try to watch a couple different anime along with HxH to get my moneys worth lol.

I also have a CR membership and watch about 6 other shows alongside Hunter x Hunter. It's well worth the price tag (6 dollars a month I believe). You get 720p and 1080p streaming and its just easier than the fuss of downloading haha. The convenience is what I pay for. I can also watch from my iPhone so it's definitely something I appreciate. No offence to people that download of course.

One thing I noticed is that they are using the same announcer they used for Zushi vs Killua.
In the manga they had a separate announcer for Zushi vs Killua.

I'm guessing they will use the same lady announcer throughout the whole Heavens Arena arc...obviously to save $$ on voice actresses.

Also with the "Human Resources" Lady...

In the 1999 version you don't see her use nen at first until Kurapika goes BACK.

In the manga the reader sees the skull but Kurapika doesn't.

The 2011 portrays this excellent by showing the reflection in Kurapika's eye showing no nen.
But when the viewer sees the lady the skull nen is seen.

Speaking of which that blue nen around her making the skull nen...looks BITCHIN!!

I'm really excited for nen in this series. Can you imagine how awesome Jajakonpon is gonna look!

BTW is it just me or is it looking like HxH 2011 is getting more and more popular especially on Crunchy Roll?

Gon uses it against Gido to sense the tops

If everything but Gon and the target he's trying to sense gets blacked out and there's this sense of emptiness...

Sorta what they did with Gon sensing Hisoka's approach before he stole his badge.

Also they need to do the light disappears from their eye thing.

And it would be good if the color tone goes from the usual bright color to something less vibrant and pale while in Zetsu.

another reason I don't get CR...

my computer doesn't run 720p or even 480p streaming too well. So it would be pointless.

Once I get a new computer I might reconsider.

I'd try and draw it myself but you're much better at drawing overweight people.

Ha ha ha. O lord. That's tempting, there isn't enough fan art of the "joke" characters from HxH.

I mostly watch by illegal download, but I've watched several episodes on Crunchyroll. I enjoy how immediate it is, but I mostly can't justify the cost when HxH is the only show I'd watch on Crunchyroll (at the moment). And download tends to be easier for me. I plan to make up for this by getting the dvd/blu-ray release as I try to support HxH legit however I can.

I thought the one black eye and one red eye effect was cool looking in the 99 series but I think it gave the wrong effect. It felt too....Kakashi. :P

You need both eyes red to really get that intensity and with the new design it's gonna look more interesting than just plain red.

Episode 9 had pretty good eyes but Kurapika's expression was just too plain. He needs to look hella mad when he's fighting Uvogin.

When he goes Emperor Time in the manga he has that look in his eyes and his face that says "I'm gonna murder you."

Kurapika certainly looks angry here and he does look like he's gonna beat up Uvo. But he's not quite murderous at least not as much as...

There Kurapika looks like he's gonna murder you the reader. Though he's really just gonna murder Uvogin

Please don't tell me that Madhouse is gonna pull a Nippon and have Kurapika's training BEFORE the Kurapika vs Uvogin fight.

I want them to do the training in the flashback like how the manga is!

I've been hoping the exact opposite. :P I thought the early training was a good idea, while it ruined some of the "surprise" I felt it might have disjointed the fight scene some to have a half episode training. For a manga I think its fine, but I felt it was a smart decision by the 1999 staff at the time. Still I'm interested in seeing how my favorite arc gets done up with slick 2011 animation.

Judging by seeing Kurapika's master though on the 2011 anime website now, makes me think he will make a cameo VERY soon (but that's just a guess). I've always wanted to know more about him, like freaking give him a name for instance! Maybe we'll see like a glimpse of him meeting Kurapika after failing at the job agency (not being able to see nen yet)?

Mizuken, Kurapika's Nen Master is featured under the 'Heaven's Arena Arc' character listing on NTV's website, so I can guarantee to you that the training has been moved to some point during Heaven's Arena. I think they are doing it so as to not break the flow of the battle in York New Arc (this is not an issue in the manga, but in the anime it may cause the fight to feel disjointed and dragging).

But I just don't want to have to sit through a Kurapika training arc before we get to Whale Island and Yorknew.

Now you might think "But then you later have to watch one half of the battle and then sit through a Kurapika training arc and the rest of the battle"
and that's true. But I WANT that. The first half of the battle is Uvo "winning" the fight and the second half is Kurapika murdering Uvogin.
The training flashback is the threshold between. It's like a way of saying "Now this is where things get serious."

Basically this is how I want the fight to go with Kurapika vs Uvogin

The first episode starts off with Gon, Killua, and Leorio trying to make money or something like that and focuses mostly on that.
Than at the end of the episode we get to Kurapika vs Uvogin which we all would be waiting for. Kurapika will be like

"You will pay for your crimes". Uvogin charges up. Next time on HxH!

Next episode. They fight. Kurapika captures Uvo. Ad break.
Return from ad. Training in flashback. Emperor Time activated. Next time on HxH

Last Episode (of the fight). Kurapika murders Uvogin. Episode moves on to other stuff like Gon looking for Greed Island. Ad break.
More looking for Greed Island stuff. Next time on HxH

The 1999 series to me put TOO much emphasis on the fight. Like it made it into this big fight of honor or whatever like Sasuke vs Itachi. I don't want that.

I want Kurapika to murder Uvogin and then the episode just acts like "Well he's dead. Let's see what's going on with Gon". You know? Really cold.
Because that's how I feel the manga is like.

Ugh. Why must everyone think this way? The flashback is less than a chapter long. It can hardly be called "dragging".

think of it this way

Before flashback: Uvogin (unknowingly) struggles against Kurapika until Kurapika reveals that he's got him cornered.

Flashback: Explains Kurapika suddenly dominating the fight and shows us just how much Kurapika hates the spiders with the oath

After flashback: Kurapika murders Uvogin iin cold blood.

Without the flashback between it just doesn't have the same feeling. It would be too spoilerish to explain Emperor Time and the oath.

Let's not sacrifice good storytelling for the sake of having a fight "flow" when it never was suppose to.

THAT, was dragging on and disjointed the fight. There was really no need for that. Kishimoto should have had that whole flashback BEFORE the fight.
So that we go into the fight understanding both Naruto and Sasuke's motives. Hopefully Kishimoto has learned his lesson and doesn't have another
volume long Uchiha flashback during the final fight of Naruto vs Sasuke and they just duke it out.

We already understand Kurapika's motives in HxH. So having the training arc beforehand is redundant.

Kurapika meeting his trainer (I take back the learning about Conjuration. He shouldn't learn that until Hatsu has been explained.)
Leorio studying and maybe during that he finds out out about nen

then

Hanzo ninja training
Pokkle and Ponzu training nen together (hey something for the shippers)

Hisoka waiting patiently for Gon and Killua

Illumi on some random assassination mission.

though not in that order and it doesn't need to include all those characters. I just picked them because besides Killua they are the finalists.

I am on your side mrsticky :P I do want it to be different, I've read (most) of the manga and seen the 1999 series a bunch of times. That's why episode 24 was probably my favorite episode cause it brought something new to the table for Canary's character. It would be cool to see most things like it is in the manga (its mostly better this way). Just when things are translated from books to film sequences of events sometimes change for pacing reasons. I wasn't trying to imply I want the series to be 1999 series again (not at all)

I think futurefrog's suggestion would be neat too, expanding on his character. So Mizuken? That's seriously his name? I have the 2004 guide book but :P I don't read japanese very well, can anyone tell if his name is mentioned prior to the new series? I'm excited to see what sort of fillers we'll get (nothing big just small touches) in the next few episodes. This is where I first really heavily fell in love with HxH and its happening all over again XD. I'd be really happy if we got indepth Conjurer training details maybe or Mizuken talking with the Hunter Committee (we know they informed him about Kurapika or was that 1999 filler? I know Wing finds out about Kurapika later on too)

Would anyone want more Phantom Troupe foreshadowing or do we already have enough as it is? I am thinking we have enough, but I wonder if they'll add anything with Machi's tiny cameo in Heaven's Arena this time around.
