Re: Hunter x Hunter Hangout Thread

Hey guys, I have a question about Abengane from the Greed Island arc. I wasn't sure where to post this and I didn't think I needed to make a completely new thread about it. So, here it goes.

As we know, Abengane is the only one in that whole alliance who survived Gensuru's Countdown explosion, thanks to his Nen-erasing abilities. We also find that the Genei Ryodan and Hisoka have somehow identified him as a Nen eraser, and want him to remove the Nen that Kurapika placed on Kuroro.

The next time we see him is after Gon, Killua and Biske have completed the game. He comments, "Even though they're much stronger than they were before, compared to Danchou the difference is still huge."

http://www.mangareader.net/207-14192-14/hunter-x-hunter/chapter-183.html

After that, he teleports to Hisoka and leaves to prepare for the Nen removal.

Why does he call Kuroro Danchou? He wasn't a Ryodan member, was he? Unless he had seen Kuroro before, how could he have known how powerful Kuroro is? Since he called Kuroro Danchou, it would seem he is a loyal subordinate and a comrade to Kuroro. Why then, would he leave with Hisoka? Wouldn't he have known that Hisoka wanted to fight Kuroro?

The Hunter X Hunter wiki says that Hisoka hired him to remove the Nen, but if so, Abengane wouldn't have called Kuroro Danchou right?

Thanks in advance for any help :^_^

Re: Hunter x Hunter Hangout Thread

Well, from what we saw the guy is not particularly strong but in turn it would make sense for him to actually join the ryodan, I haven't thought about that. The ryodan does look for value in the abilities of their members. In that regard, a nen remover has been stated as being someone extremely rare to the point where the amount of them in the entire world is but a few.

I wonder if he could remove the nen from dancho though. Removing the nen from gensuru took a fair tool on him, gensuru does not even appear to be a high level nen user for the most part, mid level at best or around knuckle's level, and even then his nen was quite hard to remove. Kurapika's chain has everything to make it strong to the point of stupidity, it has a deep hatred against the target, it has a heave set of preconditios and conditions to its use.... Kurapika is certainly not nearly as good a nen user as gensuru but in turn his nen against the ryodan has shown to be exceptional............. I don't think it will be so easy to remove the nen. Heck, from what we saw the nen will stick to dancho after it is removed for the most part. I guess if the chain is removed from his heart and kuroro speaks with ryodan members it will be the thingy that holds the nen that dies though.

He's talking about Gensuru. "They probably used some powerful tactics" refers to defeating Gensuru. Even if he was an undercover member of the Spiders, that statement would still make no sense for the simple fact that clearly Gon never fought Kuroro while in GI so there can't possibly be any tactics involved. I checked all the different versions of translations I have and some of them have conflicting translations, including one version where they teleported to Kuroro instead of Hisoka. It's possible that the original version had a typo and was either corrected later in the volumes, or the fan translators just corrected it. It's not exactly unheard of to swap a name or two in manga. I remember in Prince of Tennis, the original version had Sanada's Furinkazan order mixed up (was like Furinzanka), and there's a lot of such examples out there.

The only restriction is that his ability cannot remove the aura from dead people. There is no reason to believe it'd be any harder to remove a high level ability compared to a low one. That said, it's said that the shape of the monster reflects the power of the aura user, so he may end up with a giant chain wielding monster on his back if he tried to remove Kurapika's chain. But I doubt the Spiders would care about that.

Re: Hunter x Hunter Hangout Thread

I was wondering the other day if Kurapica could remove the conditions without loosing the effects if he gets stronger. I mean, if he was able to change the conditions on the go of the 5 chains, why He cant do that after manipulating better his Nen?

Re: Hunter x Hunter Hangout Thread

Kurapika changed the condition before he learned the Judgment Chain ability so that it'd work on anyone, because otherwise he can't even use it on himself. Presumably, the price for doing that is making Judgment Chain weaker than if it only worked on Spiders. However, since Judgment Chain is only used on guys who are already totally incapaciated, it's presumably not a big deal that it loses some power. It's pretty clear that even with a tougher set of restriction, Judgment Chain isn't something he can use in mid-combat without disabling his opponent first. Otherwise he can just use it in mid combat and make the condition like "Stop breathing or die" and he'd be able to defeat the entire Spiders single handedly. If it was possible to change restriction on the fly, you could just make any ability "Can only use on (one guy), otherwise you die, can never use this ability again." That ought to be enough to overcome just about any reasonable difference in raw power, and you can just change it after you're done.

Kurapika could have made his Chain Jail on a looser set of conditions, but again this would mean the chains would be less durable. It might not even be possible for him to apply the effect 'prevent aura use', and even if he could, the chains would not be as durable and someone like Ubogin might be able to break it even without using aura.

In HXH there's some kind of invisible 'risk to reward' chart. The makers of GI are clearly some of the most powerful aura users in the world. However Shalunark noted that it cannot be the case using aura in front of a GI disc removes your soul, because that's basically way too lenient for something as tough as 'remove your soul', so therefore GI must be real. It doesn't matter if GI signed up Super Gon, reborn Meryem, Netero, and whoever else into making the game. They will never be able to make an ability that removes your soul for merely using aura in front of it. However, such a team might be able to teleport the user to another planet instead of just limited to the planet HXH takes place. That might be possible.

Kurapika's chains are meant to contain people who may be significantly stronger than him physically. Without those drastic requirement, it is never possible for Kurapika to make effectively unbreakable chains. In fact, even with these restrictions, I cannot imagine those chains could contain Meryem (assuming he joined Spiders so he qualifies), since he is far beyond 'significantly stronger'. Now, if Kurapika trained himself to the point where he has Meryem's level of power, then yes he might be able to contain anyone with just a normal set of chains since at this point nobody in the world can be considered as 'significantly stronger' than him. Of course at that point he wouldn't really need any fancy ability to defeat anyone anyway, so that's kind of pointless.

Re: Hunter x Hunter Hangout Thread

I never meant in battle as you suggests.
I doubt He can use Judgment aside himself and the Ryodan. I mean, I think He first made the judgement chain and after that he put it on his heart to make the others stronger. It's the only way I see He could use it effectively without being inconsistent. So his main ability is to judge and therefore his main technique is the Judgment Chain which He used only in himself and after that limited to the Ryodan. The others chains are secondary techniques, in that way.

So my question is if If he can fill the gap of his skills and strength of when He was when He met the Ryodan that would also affect the conditions that affects his main technique, the Judgement Chain, to be able to use it against more people.

Of course, if somewhere else stronger appears, He may need to use that strict condition again after some powerful trauma as He had with his family.

Re: Hunter x Hunter Hangout Thread

Judgment Chain uses the field Kurapika is least compatible with (40%). It may sound powerful, but Judgment Chain is only used when his enemy is completely at his mercy. It'd be like taking a knife to someone who can't fight back or run away and say they better listen up or you stab them to death. I got the feeling that Judgment Chain is actually an extremely weak ability, which is why having loose or tough restriction would have no adverse effect on it. It's still a technique you can only use when you already have total control.

Note that any of the Control-type users can control just about anyone if they're spotted the same pre-conditions as Judgment Chain (enemy completely incapaciated, no aura, and unable to fight back). It sound scary that Judgment Chain can control your fate, but any Control-type users can do exactly the same thing in the same situation.

I think no matter how hard he strengthens the Judgment Chain technique, if you use it in combat anybody who is at all close to Kurapika's power can either block or dodge it, otherwise this ability is simply grossly overpowered as any direct hit is also a guaranteed kill as long as you make a nonsensical demand on what the target must do.

As an aside, it's actually pretty easy for him to use Judgment Chain in conjunction with Chain Jail against anybody if he wanted to. Like Shalunark said, he could merely set Chain Jail's special effect to be paralyze or asleep. It that case, he wouldn't need a very strict requirement, nor does he need the chains to be nearly indestructible (because his target would be incapaciated). Kurapika's ability is really overkill, but that overkill reflects his undeniable resolve to defeat the Spiders at all costs.

Re: Hunter x Hunter Hangout Thread

To be honest I have been wondering for a while if abengane would actually be capable of removing the nen from kuroro. Given the nature and conditions behind the chain of judgement, wouldn't the chain be enormously more powerful than the bomb? In that regard, it seemed like he had enough trouble removing the bomb so naturally the chain would be far more complicated. He even had to explain the situation to bisk and gon to make success more likely. Perhaps the reason his nen has not been removed yet is because they are making preparations for it though (kurapica would have informed gon and killua one way other the other otherwise). And what about the bulky companion? There are no conditions to remove the chain as it is. Or perhaps using his nen will result in the destruction of the companion rather than his heart once the nen is removed?

Kurapica can only use judgement chain when his eyes are scarlet which grants him 100% of all categories though. Even then, kurapica is a conjurer and the ability which the chain uses has nothing to do with other nen categories. Obviously you can't use the skill in just any fight though, it is not a technique meant to be used in a fight at all. That's why he has his chain jail which only works against the ryodan.

Re: Hunter x Hunter Hangout Thread

There's no concept of 'too powerful to affected by' in HXH. It's just powerful individuals would pretty much never fall for weak abilities. If Meryem sticks Shalunark's antennae in himself, he'd still get controlled. The fact that nobody else can possibly pull off this feat makes him effectively immune, but it can still happen. So we have to assume no matter what, the aura removal will work. Now, the beast takes shape equivalent of power of the user, so it's entirely possible the beast formed by the Judgment Chain would be too strong to be contained. Maybe it'll just go on a rampage and try to kill all the Spiders. But they'll still be able to remove the Judgment Chain from Kuroro's heart for sure. It's just that the result might get them into a bigger mess than they started with.

It says Kurapika's accuracy/power drops down to 40% with Emission when not in Scarlet Eyes but he still retains whatever he learns. I assume this means he could use Judgment Chain normally but he'd literally have no idea if it'd hit the right target or if the conditions he gave would even be upheld, thus making the technique worthless.

Re: Hunter x Hunter Hangout Thread

Where does emission come into play here? The chain does not require emission as it is materialized to begin with. And judgement chain is not a technique meant to be used in fights anyways, it'd be like arguing kurotopi's ability is weak....

I don't think it's someone we've seen yet. But i have no idea what he could be like, especially why he's hiding from his family.

I don't remember the exact chapter, where it was stated that Silva had five sons. But the missing brother 'appeared' first in this chapter. As to what he is up to no one knows, he is still a mistery.

I always wondered why that guy was looking behind and saying "Hi" to someone in the forest. I assume that the beast or the guards were his friends, but something is off with just that, being the fact that He was supposedly to appear in the pic.

The existence of Alluka was never mentioned in the manga. That name actually came from the source book, but it's also consistent with the way the sons are named:

IluMI MIluKI KIlluA AlluKA KAlluto

Therefore Alluka has to be younger than Killua but older than Kalluto.

From the picture it seems alluka is actually a decent bit older than killua. I would think he is the second or third son. How would someone younger than killua be a real threat? Even killua with his insanely fast growth rate does not match up to high level nen users.

Re: Hunter x Hunter Hangout Thread

If Alluka is older than Killua his name would have to be Kiluki (between MiluKI and KIllua). Silva's sons are named exactly corresponding to their age. This is given in the official sourcebooks and that's where the name Alluka came from, since it sure wasn't mentioned anywhere in the manga.

Kalluto said he will rescue his (older) brother no matter what cost when he joined the Spiders. This is presumably talking about Alluka since none of the other brothers appear to be in any kind of danger. The 'Killua may die part' could refer to whatever danger Alluka is in. Whatever problem Alluka have, it must be pretty serious.

Re: Hunter x Hunter Hangout Thread

Sorry to disturb your discussion folks, and you might have already discussed some things I'm going to point out. But I'm *really* new to the HxH despite being a fan for years.

So.

I have a lot of questions.

1- Why wasn't Gin involved in the ant arc? Was it because he simply didn't care?
2- I can't understand much how Novu and Morau fit in this heirarchy in the zodiac so if someone could enlighten me on that...
3- And also, why were the zodiac not involved in the ant expedition as well? That Netero had to rely on "apprentices" and hired assassins to do the job?

The appearance of Gin actually floored me, and sorry that I was not able to join you when you might have already discussed his appearance, but I just read the latest chapters and that is why I came here. Yoroshiku. :hurr

---------- Post added at 03:15 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:50 AM ----------

ah, and another thing:

4- was GI just a baby project that was forgotten? The makers of the game clearly were high level Nen users- but they don't match up to the zodiac? And so like, was it just really a G.A.M.E. that much higher level nen users such as Morau and Novu (for example) didn't bother with?

5- and with that, what are your theories regarding the future of GI? it has become an independent state? Has the nen protection and programs disappeared? What do you think were Gin's reactions towards the completing of the Game just recently? Gin just showed up and we have yet to know about his thoughts on the recent developments after GI...
