The Tokyo Ghoul Forum is my homeland. My roots in MH alongside the FF

I might actually read Tokyo Ghoul if I feel like it. I never read manga until HxH drove me mad and couldn't wait for the anime anymore.

How are the people in the TG section? I've only been to FT and HxH.. even though I'm a fan of bleach, one piece, naruto, and prince of tennis anime.

I like the people in FT. They might argue a lot but I think they're the most friendly people. then again, I haven't been to a lot of sections.

The TG Forum is a very, very close knit community and one could say it takes a lot to be recognized there. Not many people like each others posts and it's mainly intellectual discussion and theory posting

I think it would actually be interesting to have togashi give story boards to people like madhouse and let them remake YYH. They could create something that is closer to togashi's initial intentions with the manga when it comes to the last arc.

Also, i think a card battle manga by togashi might be actually really awesome.
It'd be hella dialogue heavy, because it would be like yugioh but with actual rules which make sense.

Turned out I've never read Tokyo ghoul though, even One Punch Man :P I only read 90s manga, including Rurouni Kenshin and some horror manga

I like HxH because it's one of those oldish Shonen that is still in it's maturing stage. It has a lot of potential but it's a pity about all the breaks... The author's drawing style is sloppy as hell so it's great that MS picked up the Scans however far back.
@kira once you get to know them the TG Forumers are really friendly and easy to talk to though

Since the Hisoka oneshot, i am interested in tokyo ghoul and want to get into it. Just thinking about whether i start with the manga or the anime.
But i am more the manga kind of guy because i tend to like the actual source material better in most cases.

Also: Intellectual discussion is nice, but if i am perfectly honest, i like creating walls of texts while fangasming about things i like better sometimes

It is a promising thing about a manga if there is intellecutal discussion about it, tho.
I don't think generic shonen let a lot of room about intellectual discussion (but they seem to leave room for a lot of hate The only time i saw people hating each other in the HxH forum was while the chrollo vs Hisoka match happened. )

I agree. I think if someone can make a pretty good card battle manga, it would be togashi. I enjoyed Yugi-oh at the start but later I just grew tired of it. It became very predictable and repetitive.

That is what i like about hxh too: It kinda has an 'old' classic flavour to it but it is mixed with a very innovative story for a shonen.
What i like about older manga is that they dare to go darker and edgier sometimes than their modern counterparts.
They feel less 'formalized'.
Even stuff like the old dragonball. Before it went on for a really long time, you didnt really know what comes next.
And the tournaments were actually exciting because it was mostly completely unclear who would win.

I've heard Studio Pierrot, which did a very good job for the original, had done one of the best remake of Mr. Osomatsu, I think they should, Madhouse is okay though, just not Toei (remember what happened to the first Sailor moon crystal?) XD

The best that came out of yugioh is yugioh abridged.
I dont think there is a better source material for an abridged series than yugioh.

And i liked the ACTUALY cardgame, i played that on tournaments and was kinda succesful (BRAG BRAG BRAG) when i was young and scourned by acne.

It's dark, edgy, and there are so many underlying plotlines and clues that need to be linked together to fully comprehend the narrative it's glorious. It's thanks to the oneshot that I picked up HxH in the first place

I would watch anything of which i know togashi aws actually involved with storyboards and stuff.
But i was lied to once with the HxH movie, so i would have to be careful.

I heard about that. But in a negative way. ON a page i read mangas on, people constantly raged about the tokyo ghul story making no sense and them having no idea what the manga is about after many chapters.
I could never tell whether this was due to people not paying attention (after all, the darc continent arc in HxH got accused of the same thing) or whether the story was actually incomprehensible.
But i am sure by now that it was the former.
I will probably start reading into it tonight.

I like stuff which you can get invested into and that pays you off.
I just had my personal waterloo with gantz. Got hella invested into that series, theorizing about stuff only to get to learn that it ACTUALLY made no sense and a lot of its mysteries were plotholes and contradictions. Therefore i am careful before starting a new series ;p

I liked the actual cardgame as well. I had this friend in highschool that would bring a box of Yugi-oh cards and we'd play a lot during recess time. He knew like every detail of the game and so, me and our other buddies would gang up on him during a battle. everyone watching would just disagree with him and that it doesn't make sense.. he lose.

oh God.. you made me remember! those were the times! so much nostalgia! there's also those circle things that you'd hit with another circle thing and if you flip it you win. can't remember the name. and there's the bragging of pokemon on gameboy.

Tokyo Ghoul isn't a fake Seinen like, say OPM. It's aimed at older readers and not everyone will understand the story because it is very, very deep. Things like parallels, foreshadowing, using books from within the story and the Fool's Journey to try and trace Kaneki's path is always fun. And the Tokyo Ghoul Trump card deck recently revealed that the Arata Joker Armour worn by Suzuya was literally shown in the card deck all this time. It's the same with the sequel's title.
