I don't think togashi would care a lot if the manga is behind exspectation.
It would be a short one anyway, and i do think that he is popular enough to get 5 volumes through no matter what.
And if not, who cares? He got money. If his heart is behind it, he could even publish it himself.
There are creator's who go by gutfeeling and can only do a few things, but do them very well, and there are authors who study different formats thouroughly and thus can pull off anything, simply because they understand the format very well.
That does not mean that what they create is amazing (you need talent and some original ideas for that of course), but they could do any genre decently.
Togashi himself said that he thinks new manga authors should read a lot of manga, even those which they dont like, and try to understand what people like about them and how they work.
And that is true. That is how a filmschool teaches film.
It is actually much harder to be the guy who has awesome ideas but has to learn how to properly formulate them in a certain genre or format than to be the guy who can write a decent sitcom episode in a day and just has to get a good idea for an exspecially interesting sitcom setting.
If Togashi would not understand how shonen tropes work, he would not have been able to deconstruct and play with them so well.
A differing example would be Toryama. Toryama had actually no idea what he was doing when he wrote dragon ball. He himself said that he made up the story on the go and just wrote from chapter to chapter about thinks he found interesting and some ideas he had.
In Toryama's case it worked off because Toryama was generally funny and is a capable character designer, but in many cases Mangaka have some great ideas about worldbuilding, scenes or characters, but on the long run, they don't understand how their format works and arc fatique sets in.

That's kind of what hapenned to Kubo with Bleach. It started off on a okish note before becoming something truly amazing, and continued to be so until what was seen as the great final fight. He got too sure of himself though and thought he was invincible
Heh, I would not say that. I prefer Berserk but yes TG is good. Berserk is average at the beginning but ti gets really excellent starting from the Golden Age arc and it's definitely darker.

I am not sure whether it is true for Kubo.
Usually, people complained about what he did but at the end of an arc, they were rather pleased again (i heard a lot of complaints back at the fight against aizen but now people say the end of that arc was nice).
The thing is that Kubo had to rush the ending of the last arc, so it never got to the good parts which usually redeemed him.
His other problem was that many people saw the win against aizen as legitiamte ending and felt like the stuff coming after was tacked on.
Kubo would have had to refresh a lot of things after that, but seemingly didnt have the time he needed to create something rewarding.
Afaik, a lot of it happened due to executive meddling too. I would give Kubo the benefit of the doubt. I think he understood what he was doing but just stopped caring too much at some point.
Someone who really does not understand what he is writing is someone like Oku (gantz).
He is absolutely unaware that the good parts of gantz were the mysteries and the character interactions outside of the game (or at least very important parts).
Oku wants to draw hollywood action and the katastrophe, the ending of gantz, was the thing he atually wanted to write. Lots of mechas, lots of explosions, a guy searching for his girlfriend.
But that was not what his readers wanted to read.
His readers wanted a satisfying end to the mysteries of the gantzball , and they got a lame explanation and that's it.
Because at some point one has to realize that Oku didnt think of the mystery itself as the big focus of gantz, but the alien slaughter action. This was a big part of gantz, but at some point, he left the fans who were in for the mystery and the character developement behind, and those guys were the most invested fans.
I think Kubo, in comparison, understands why people liked bleach. He just was not able to pull it off anymore in the end, for whichever reasons.
Another similar example from gaming would be metroid another M. The game tried to endear samus to people and give her more backstory. The problem was simply that they did it in a way in which most metroid fans didnt see nor want samus (as a submissive, obsessive little teenage girl with angst issues). It was not a bad game and the writers actually thought that their version of samus was fine, simply because they didnt understand why metroid fans liked samus before.
The same happens when authors dont understand why people read their manga.
Most of the manga where people dont know that but just go by what feels right to them fail (so there are not a lot of popular examples), but some stick arround because the authors still got pretty great ideas inbetween.
And Togashi is a guy who knows exactly what he does and why he does it. I am pretty sure that before every arc, he thinks a lot about how the theme of the arc can work together with HxH characters.
You can see that in greed island: He didnt just make up cards on the go to fullfill plotfunctions, he even thought out cards which were never used in the manga. I am pretty sure that he read some game manga before writing that arc and thought very carefully about underlying tropes and interesting points in those kinds of manga (or videogames).
You can compare that to sword art online, which quickly declined in popularity because the creator's didnt focus on what people actually want from a manga about games and what they exspected in the beginning of SAO.

As i said, i have yet to encounter someone who did not keep reading berserk after finishing the first volume.
The beginning is only average RELATIVELY to what is to come, but it is still hella glorious.
I know exactly the part which let me keep reading: When guts smirkingly arrowed the beaten apostle to death after that one told him that 'arrows cannot hurt him' before.
Things like that are just too badass to ignore.
I also like that bersek keeps its plots simple but iconographic. Griffith has no complicated plans, but he is one of the most impressive villains i know.

I've heard that Lady gaga is on this again XD and lol it's about the legendary Stephen King's novel - "children of the corn"

Don't worry about it, that shows has no ends because it based on some of the true urban legends and stories in every different seasons. However, it has the same cast in different characters.
Uuuh, interesting.
I watched AHS, but i stopped after the second season.
I did not feel satisfyed, because i found the beginning of the second season so insanely good but found they really didnt do the characters i liked in it justice (exspecially nun/demon mary junis)
Aside from that, rereading berserk and reading tokyo ghoul is more than enough. And comics. And fire emblem. And yes, actually sports.
Highly recommended it if:
- You're a fan of Lady gaga, Maroon 5, Stevie nicks, etc. or some actors/actresses you're familiar with
-You wanna into urban legends and scary true events
-Plot-twist is so good
-or looking those teasers and guess how this season is gonna be like (recently the teasers are out but we don't know what's their theme is)

Oh i am certainly not a fan of those :P But i am a fan of children of the corn, so i will probably give it a go.
I know stephen king is famous, but i still consider him underrated. he is treated as 'oh well it is horror for the masses', a bit like rowling is famous due to harry potter but not exactly seen as great author by critics.
And i think he is a great author. Not all of his books. a lot of them are repetative or outright rubbish.
But some of them are insane pieces of art which probably noone else could have written (the long walk, for example)
Yeah, i like the concept of goign season per season.
The concept is always fresh without any season fatique.
It's often either a great show having no viewers and thus being cut short or outright cancelled, or a great show having so many viewers that they cannot stop it when it makes sense and have to drag it on until it becomes boring.
How I met your mother was a great show for 3 seasons. If they would have wrapped it up by that time, it would have been one of my alltime favourite sitcoms.
But then over the course of season4, i just stopped caring.
There are onyl few shows which can grab your attention with the same amount of fascination over more than 3 seasons or so.
Exspecially noncomedies have a hard time doing that
Some fans said that this one has Courage the cowardly dog style, aliens, even slender man & based Sharon Tate murder through guessing teasers XD Children of the corn is considered to be one of them

Coming to think of it, lately i read into a lot of 'true crimes' or 'true mystery' cases.
Those things always let me shudder.
I know it is kind of ethically questionable to read cases of dead people for entertainment purposes, but most of those cases were long ago and have since been adapted into fiction anyway.
Yeah definitely, when i got more freetime on my hands i intend to write up a mystery short story based on these cases.
I feel like there is potential in this format.
Most 'cold cases' series focus on one case per episode, which does not leave a lot of depth, and longer crime series usually do not go in the mystery direction (and if they do it is some supernatural nonsense).
