Re: Pitou vs. Morau

Pitou... and quite easily IMO. He has raw power, high class techniques and everything he needs to win this battle. Even if pitou dies for some reason he can use his last shown doll to take over his own dead body and fight at a even greater level. I don't think murao stands a chance here.

Re: Pitou vs. Morau

I expect a lot of people to go straight for Pito because Morau didn't beat Pufu, but I'm honestly torn on this one. Morau is the most battle-tested character out of anybody in the Chimera Ant story, but before the big raid in chapter 260 he said that he wishes he were in good condition, but because he's only at about 35% of his full strength and Novu is useless he'd have to just try his best to stall. Making that unbreakable wall before the fight really started must have put him even lower. Considering how weakened he was at that point, I think he actually put on a good performance against Pufu and Yupi. I honestly don't think Pito would do any better if he tried to stall against those opponents while weakened that much.

I think it's telling that unless he's incredibly weak, he rarely gets hurt or put at a disadvantage, and finds ways to do well even when victory looks impossible. How many characters would've won a fight against Leol, whose power is similar to Kuroro's, drowning underwater in those caverns while being paralyzed by giant tornado waves? Because he can hold his breath so long, his power is versatile enough to ride on, and his carbon dioxide poisoning works even on the ants, he somehow pulled it off. He even dealt with the speed of sound harpoon by propelling himself away with smoke. I also don't think many characters could have caught the insanely fast Cheetu and shattered his "disappears if I ever lose" technique. Who else has the patience, intelligence, and such a sneaky and indirect way to catch him? Probably Hisoka, but not many others. Morau is a monster that always does much better than he should, and his power is the most versatile one we've seen, but the huge drawback is that he needs that pipe. I personally don't think it would get stolen unless he was already weakened to the point where he couldn't win the fight, though. He seems to be very comfortable with that as his weapon.

Pito, on the other hand, doesn't require as much thought. He has his various puppet powers and a huge amount of raw speed and power. His aura is just ridiculous. It's interesting that we haven't really seen him win a fight, though. Kaito happened offscreen, and since then he only got swatted away by Netero, then killed by adult Gon. But it's clear that he's incredibly powerful, and he just got a bad draw having his combat be against two insane powerhouses.

So, really long post, but I think that at full power, and trying for the kill instead of trying to stall, Morau definitely might surprise a lot of people. But it's somehow easier to picture the straightforward way Pito would win, simply by being faster and stronger and smacking him around. But if you look at less obvious factors that affect all the crazy possibilities about the various crazy directions the fight could go in like their resourcefulness, versatility, or state of mind I think Morau has a huge advantage in those categories. I'm still thinking about my vote.

Re: Pitou vs. Morau

^ i hope most people read this post by konfuzed before they vote and post. it was stated that morau was at about 35% before the raid on the palace. He was fighting with pitou's dolls, leol, cheetu, etc. before the raid and he still managed to do well before he reached his limit. Using smoke as a weapon makes morau pretty damn versatile and he is quite clever. now... i know... based on my name my opinion seems pretty biased... but from what we've seen of morau. im giving it too him. with his full strength and creative use of deep purple, i think hes got this one. pitou has only displayed speed and strength and that en. but it was stated in one chapter (when morau is assualting peijing with deep purple i believe) that en cant tell the difference between dolls and humans. which gives morau the ability to hide and fight from the smoke quite effectively. i also think that pipe can pack a big wallop too.

Re: Pitou vs. Morau

Well, most fights can be determined on 4 things: power, speed, skill, and experience.

Pitou has the clear advantage in Power and Speed. Morau has a clear advantage in Experience. They are both highly skilled, but I'm leaning towards Morau on the Skill category.

I ended up going along with Pitou on this one. I don't like using a 3rd person to compare the two contestants but it seems appropriate in this case. If you look here and read for a few pages, Gon has just been released from Knuckles nen so he has got his powers back. Morau decided to test him and almost gets blown away by regular Gon. It took adult Gon to kill Pitou. Morau is also at full power at this time so he can't use being at 35% as an excuse.

Re: Pitou vs. Morau

Hmm, I don't know... normally Morau would never stand still and let somebody strong hit him with a slow attack in a real fight, and from what I remember child Gon had Pito sweating pretty badly too. Pito was seriously intimidated even before Gon went adult and actually started fighting him. Gon has always had enough power to damage his opponents, the only issue is that his rock attack is so slow and obvious. Morau standing still and saying "hit me" to a slow powerhouse as a test isn't really a good comparison to an actual fight.

Re: Killua vs. Phinx

killuah for sure, phinx is a good fighter but killuah can paralyse him without a problem in his godmode and then use his yoyos to defeat him :/

Re: Killua vs. Phinx

i read in the rules of the tournament that everyone has knowledge of their opponents abilities. that being said, killua knows phinx needs to wind his arm before he punches to deliver that OHKO hit....
Actually, what that rule means is, if one character already knows something about the other person's ability from actual experience in the manga, that knowledge carries over into these fights... It doesn't mean that characters will know things they haven't experienced. Killua wouldn't know anything about Phinx's wind up strike (whatever it is called) and similarly, Phinx doesn't know anything about Killua's Kanmaru or other recently developed skills.

Re: Pitou vs. Morau

Saying murao fights with cheap tricks is rather inappropriate lol. Thats just how nen fights are, you develop a skill and use it to the max.

That said, I still can't imagine murao winning this fight. In terms of speed and stamina he is grossly overpowered. Heck, in terms of sheer nen amount the guards are superior to netero (netero has more polished nen though). Even at 100% it would be hard for murao to match the ants. Lets also recall what happened when pitou fought kaido. It is true that kaito was protecting gon however would it still be a fight he could ahve won? Not particularly. Murao's smoke is versatile in that it can take any shape but does it ultimately have offensive power on its own? I kinda doubt it. Heck, murao's fights against the other ants should be an indication that he would fare extremely poorly against pitou. If he had that much trouble against the captains, who are by all intents and purposes less than insignificant against the royal guard, then how would he win against pitou? Even then, killing pitou does not equate to victory. He still has to deal with the last doll which not only allows pitou to keep fighting in death but also seemingly become stronger. In any reasonable scenario, murao does not have a chance.

Re: Killua vs. Phinx

igotthegoods phrased it in a way that really sounded otherwise.

"Characters are assumed to have knowledge of their opponents full arsenal of abilities."

That really sounds like everybody knows about every ability of every opponent to me.

Re: Killua vs. Phinx

I went through the manga again and now I am not so sure phinx would win. When killua uses kammuru he actually outmatched pufu in terms of speed. He went as far as to considerably hurt him by burning his cells and pufu could not even react to that. Now, the issue would be pufu's current status. He had giving a significant part of himself to the king, it is very unlikely his nen and physical capacities would actually be anywhere near what they would normally be. He was in turn also capable of blitzing yupi who at the time I doubt he was even that far away from his best. The actual punches caused negligible damage though(it was mostly for the potclean thing). Another issue would be how many spins of his arm phinx can handle. I don't think spinning his arm in itself actually takes that much time considering nen users do move kinda fast. For all we know enough spins could match or even surpass uvo's own punch which by no means would be a small thing.

Re: Pitou vs. Morau

im kinda disappointed then..... if the ants are really that overpowered in a one on one... just because of speed and power and sheer aura size.... then im calling pufu vs yupi for the final match. no one else is gonna stand a chance... sorry if this is off topic but i still believe morau could put up a better fight than being swatted around...

Re: Pitou vs. Morau

Well, have we seen the ants being matched so far? Only two people have been able to match the ants so far but their circumstances were exceptional to say the least. Killua has a specific ability which boosts his speed and reaction speed hence why he was able to land a few hits on yupi. Gon apparently gave up his potential to gain aura which could match that of the king and a body which he should have acquired after seemingly decades of training(and even then dead pitou put up a fight).

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying murao would not be able to even put up a fight. He might trick, hit, deceive and surprise pitou for a while but ultimately I do think the fight would end in pitou's favor. Seriously, what would happen to murao when the fight goes close range? Would he be able to keep up? Or how about dealing with pitou's spores? Would he be able to resist the control?

Re: Pitou vs. Morau

Hard vote. I gave it to Pitou. I just don't see how you can fight such a huge nen.
Morau will be able to annoy Pitou during a long time (with smoke & especially his clones made of smoke) ... but I don't see how he will be able to damage Pitou.

Re: Killua vs. Phinx

Finally , I gave my vote to Phinx.

I believe that Killua will use all his nen before being able to damage seriously enough Phinx. But to me , it's a 51-49 kind of fight ...

I don't think that a fight to the death will one day happen between those two:
Killua will simply run away if he can not damage his opponent.

Re: Pitou vs. Morau

I still haven't decided, but the main reasons I think Morau has a chance is to hurt Pito are
A) He has plenty of ways to use his smoke that we haven't seen, it seems like he has an endless bag of very powerful tricks, far more than anybody else. We haven't seen him in a situation where it would be beneficial for him to try to overpower and directly attack an opponent, therefore we haven't seen any of those attacks. All of his opponents were either more susceptible to trickery than direct confrontation due to their attributes or too strong for him to hurt in his heavily weakened condition. Specifically, I remember that before he fought Leol, he said something like "I should crush him before I see his technique, but that's not what this is about... this is a man's battle." Basically, from what I remember, he was implying that he might have more direct ways to powerfully attack an opponent, but he prefers to see what an opponent has to offer and dismantle it, beating them in a battle of wits.

And B) he has SO MANY ways to use the smoke, and many of them may be able to bypass pitos strength, speed, and nen advantages. For example, he already took out a captain via CO2 poisoning, and that sort of trick would probably work regardless of the physical strength or nen capacity of the opponent. The cat/ant/whatever chimera body could still be shut down. I also wouldn't put it past him to send Pito on a wild goose chase and counterattack when Pito was putting his nen into offense trying to finish him off. Also, Morau is much more resourceful than I am, so it's not so much that I have a specific method of victory in mind for him, more that I have more confidence in his ability to come up with a plan and do well in a seemingly no-win situation than any other character.

Sorry about the poor wording on my part. :sweat Wowzers stated it more clearly. I'm going to substitute his wording into my original post so it's more obvious what the rule is. If anyone would like to change their vote based on this clarification, please let me know so I can adjust it. Sorry again. >_<

Re: Killua vs. Phinx

Thanks for the clarification. It doesn't make me change my vote, but the one character that this really would've changed things for is Gensuru. His ability is a heck of a lot weaker if everybody knows about it!

Oh, and as for this fight, I think I'm picking Killua because even though he's a reinforcement type, Phinx hasn't actually shown much defense so we have to speculate, and I imagine he's focusing a lot of nen offensively in his arm while he's preparing to attack. I think with his new powers Killua would be faster than Phinx could possibly expect, and find a way to counterattack and strike a devastating blow to a less protected area of Phinx's body. Now that I know they don't know about each others powers, I think Phinx would wind up for a bit and attack, and Killua would dodge the punch even if he didn't know about the details of the technique and counterattack much faster than Phinx would have any reason to be prepared for.
