Re: The Games Hangout Thread

Well, packs stay for a few months at a time so I don't really feel pressured to save. I was thinking about buying the man of steel pack since its cheap. Though I don't know how long the discount will last. It would need to be at least a few weeks for it to be worth it and for me to get all the way to EVII with them... Though the superman guys aren't that good, I am not really much of a fan of them. On the other hand the other packs look insanely expensive, 700 k is a bit too much. Even if its a good deal I think it would be more practical to increase my farming capacity a tad until the 700 k isn't too much. Then again I might as well focus on my silvers seeing that they will be useful for completing challenges, completing them usually yields some money after all. Is there any way to upgrade ares? It says I can only get him in MP seasons... It will take years until I have him at EVII lol.
Well you can go for the Man of Steel pack but I think it's not really that good. The superman's really aren't strong saw RS and Godfall Superman. Regime is also noteworthy I guess. Yes the Arkham Pack is very expensive but that's because the team is probably the best in the game. 10% health increase, chance at unblockable SP2. Harley Quinn has heal, damage boost or unblockable bomb for SP2, Batman starts with 2 bars and Deathstroke's SP1 is unblockable and crit if you hit 200%. Batman and Deathstroke are both in anyone's top 10 list of most powerful characters. Or at least you'd find one of them so yeah that's why it's so expensive. You could leave it for now though as it might be too expensive.

Nah, there's no way to upgrade Ares or any of the recent challenges if you didn't complete them. Only thing you can do is wait until he is included in packs after some updates. Or maybe if they repeat his challenge or via online MP season when he's featured.

From what I have seen it doesn't take that much to make it to the 5%. With the previous season I made it with 190k. The one before that was more difficult though, I needed 350k to make it to the low end of the top 5%. Top 4% was indeed over 700k though. It seems like there is a rare gear so I probably will need something closer to 400k to make it though... I was talking about the actual top spots though. Those guys have 16 mil or so right now. Is it even possible to get that much playing fairly? It doesn't seem to make sense....
lol yeah, the idea is that most of those at the top use cheats or hack the game or something. Then again, those guys usually have all the characters at Level 50 EVII and hax gears fully evolved. Plus energy bars stocked up so they don't have to wait. Also, you know there are offensive and defensive battles right? Offensive is when you attack and play against the AI, defensive is when you are challenged and the AI plays for you. There are also battle magnets, that is some of the characters that attract a lot of battles. Most of those at the top get a lot of defensive battles and win so they also get points from there. Apparently, getting that much points can be done without cheating. It's usually the guys around 1st-5th that are accused of cheating.

I have played against godfall superman but so far he does not seem that strong. His passive seems nice in theory but easy to overcome in the end.. Well, that is from when I have fought him in multiplayer so perhaps using it is a tad different. I guess the key to his passive could be the right gear, something with reflect or something... I like harley though I have always been unsure of her attack sequence. It has only two hits... She hits hard but I think hitting the way she does makes the power bars fill more slowly. Then again her healing is insane and the bomb is a sure thing so perhaps it evens out.

I know about defensive plays though seeing the people at the top it does not seem like it should account for everything. You have people with 30 mil points with 600 fights or so (both defense and offense). Which means they are getting 50000 points per battle. Which is weird even if they are fighting the 7 battle challenges and winning (the whole sequence shouldn't net them more than 50000 even if they win). Unless the game is not counting their battles right...

Well not that Godfall is that powerful but he's one of the best superman, along with red son and regime. Yeah, I'm not fond of the two hits heavy attack characters so I usually go with their light attacks if I'm trying to build power fast but those characters usually have passives or SP2 that even things out. Do you have doomsday? One of the best characters for farming. He gains 50% of his health for every knockout and he hits pretty hard all round.

About online, yeah those are the top cheat apparently (but sometimes battles aren't properly counted too).

Don't light attacks build the enemy's power meter faster? I don't like the two hit attacks but it doesn't seem like light attacks are a better alternative.

I don't own him, I haven't thought of it that way. I should look into buying him, you make a good point. It'd be good to get him on the booster packs lol. I have been spending all my money to win the challenge (upgrading silvers and whatnot) so I think I will start with that today. I completed the nightmare challenge so I guess I should also consider EVII batgirl since I also have her specific gear.

True light attacks build the enemy's power faster but yours also builds faster. Well depends on preference really.

Doomsday is really good. I was lucky to get him as one of my first gold from the booster pack and eventually fully upgraded him and he was very helpful. Well it was a good idea to work on your silvers. In addition to helping you complete the current challenge, they'd also come in handy for future challenges. Yeah you should consider maxing batgirl. She works very pretty well with 600WW and AniHq who you both have plus you have her gear which helps.

I thought light attacks specifically built the enemy's meter faster contrary to hard attacks which build yours faster.

For the time being I think I am done with my silvers... EVII cyborg and EV GL were actually enough to finish the challenge which required the silver characters. I might eventually fully upgrade GL because his passive is useful when paired with golds.

Hm, I've never noticed any real difference between the two in terms of power gen so I dunno.

Well GL is probably good enough at the stage you have him but you could just max him out. I also used to use his a lot with my golds in the past but eventually I stopped. So what are you going for next? Maxing out your current gold?

Well, I am working on a couple of gears right now. It takes a bit of time but I am not winning as consistently as I want in MP. I rarely finish the 5 battle challenge, they usually get me by the 4th fight or so. I figured a few more evolved gears would do the trick. I need a bit more consistency in soloing BB6 which also presumably requires gears. The red sun guys make a good team but solo not so much, I specifically grundy. It's funny, I have gone through MP basically soloing fights with superman only to then run into a guy with a bunch of arkham characters with 300 or more gear points and can't beat a single one. I don't think I have beaten even once people with a team of Killer frost, static and bane (give or take arkham deathstroke or batman).

Of course, not fully evolving them as that would take millions of credits. I am thinking of getting one or two evolved gears for each character. And then fully focusing on eliting golds....

True, alone, the red sons aren't much. Well superman is still pretty good solo but Grundy is horrible alone. Yeah the arkham characters and killer frost are very tough to deal with.

Hm, still it generally shouldn't be that tough to finish the 5 battles even without many gears. It's usually the 7 battles that are difficult and understandably so, since it gives more rewards. Well, in time, you'd get more comfortable with the game and find it easier to win though occasionally, you'd still meet teams that are too powerful and lose but at least you'd complete the battles a lot more. Understanding the different characters and their tendencies/passives also help a lot.
Going for gears and eliting golds is best so that's cool.

Well, occasionally is about how often I win the complete battle lol. I can easily win the 3 fight battle and occasionally the 5 fight battle. I haven't really tried the 7 fight battle in a while, its not very convenient as I have to either wait until my energy recovers or use refills...

How do you handle raven? The best strategy I have come up yet is to hit her until she is almost at 20% of her health and then hit her with an SP3. SP2s are generally a bit of a risk because all of the ones available to me have multiple hits so its a bit of a gamble. However getting to use the SP3 implies I have to simply tank for a bit.

I play the 7 battle a lot more though that's because I usually have refills to use and it's not really an issue using them since I'm not exactly saving them for anything.

Yeah, that's one way, well the safest way really. Most of the characters use multiple hits SP2 so it's generally best to avoid using an SP2 against her. Other options would be an SP1 (if it's powerful enough thanks to gears/passive), also, you could use a player who already has a low health with the SP2. I generally go with the last option since I'm not fond of using SP3 in MP.

I have quite a few as well though I save them just in case. Say, I want a pack or something.... Guess it would make sense to use them when I get a tad more consistent in multiplayer.

Well, the low health thing is hard to do because raven is usually the first in the lineup. You kinda have to luck out that the computer switches to someone else and fight normally. Though even in that scenario it seems better to use SP3 rather than get a character with intentionally low health. I mean, using the SP3 seems more reasonable than getting someone hurt intentionally. And even then the health switch will probably leave you worst off.

Yeah it does help for the 7 battle. Though you're right in waiting to be more consistent. It's pretty annoying when you've spent 3 energy bars and you lose the 6th or 7th battle lol. The 5 battle is way safer so I use characters I'm less confident it for those. I only use characters that I'm fairly certain have a decent chance to win regardless the team or opponent for the 7 battle.

Depends on when you fight her but it's not intentional low health though. I simply fight her like I would any other character, except I don't use any SPs so her health doesn't go super fast when I'm not prepared to finish her off. I also block her SPs. When the first character's health drops a bit, I tag out and repeat with the next character. Generally, you won't get to kill off the first opponent before the next one tags in so she'd leave at some point and I'd likely have 2 characters with 2 bars with the last one at 1. Afterwards, I'd simply continue fighting the other opponents while leaving the one with the least health tagged out until Raven comes back in. I mean, tbf, by the time Raven is down to 20%, you'd already have a character or two with half or less than half health left regardless. Like I said, the SP3 is the safest option and if there's isn't a character with pretty low health or if her health is low enough for me to safely finish her off with an SP3, I'd obviously go for that but odds are you'd have a character with a low health either way.

Maybe I have been unlucky, most times I fight her she simply doesn't tag out. Which kinda leaves me exposed. Maybe I am just beating her down to quickly. Damage gears seemed like a good idea but against her its probably better to have gears which enhance SP damage, heal you or otherwise help you decrease damage from blocking once you need her to tag out. ..

So, how do you feel about the darkseid challenge? I really wanted darkseid when the game started but now it barely seems worth it. He does good damage as far as I know but his passive seems pretty weak considering that even with that bronze characters don't seem to be on the level. EVII bronzes at level 50 with darkseid's passive would probably only get to fight on par with EVII silvers which is not much to speak off. Everything considered I am probably going to keep him for my third gold team considering the challenges give me two free elites for him...

Perhaps. Even if she doesn't exactly tag out, you can use her to build up power for your whole team by using combos. Then use an SP3 to finish her up since her life would be pretty low by then or you could just use an SP3 for the first character.
Yeah, those gears help with Raven. Damage gears would make her life go a lot faster and leaves you in a weird situation.

Well I have darkseid but I don't use him much. Funny enough, when I didn't have him, I was also pretty keen on getting him. His passive isn't anything much considering that the bronzes don't end up nearly powerful enough to take on EVII golds. Darkseid is one of the MP magnets though so apparently you get a lot of battles if you leave him as the team but it's still meh for me. Still a good idea to just have him anyway. I think it'd be pretty nice if another darkseid character was introduced whose passive was similar but influenced silvers instead so they can at least match up to gold cards. The silvers have some interesting passives (like GL) but they're simply too weak to matter in most battles.

For me the weird situation is pretty much the norm when I face her. Guess I gotta get some new ones now... I was hoping to work on my ibistick or blood sword but that would probably only aggravate this. Unless the ibistick helps me build power faster....

Are MP magnets a thing? It seems kinda weird that there would be such a thing. I think they should update current darkseid to make his passive influence all cards except not on the same degree. So he gives a big boost to bronze, a medium one for silvers and perhaps a small one for golds. I was thinking it would be interesting to give him a passive that takes bronze and silver to the same level as equivalent golds but that would perhaps invalidate the point of gold cards to begin with. I also get the mild impression that silver and bronze characters tend to have stronger passives (though obviously not in all cases).

Yeah the MP Magnets are a thing. It's kinda like drop rates in booster packs. Some cards drop a lot easier than others. Haven't you noticed that when you play MP, you face certain characters a lot? I mean, it's not exactly set it stone and all and it changes at times, but leaving some characters on your team ensures you get higher defensive battles than others in the long run. Darkseid, Shazam and Godfall superman are apparently the biggest game magnets. I have experimented with Shazam before and I did get a high number of defensive battles.

Well Darkseid having a general effect like that probably makes him too powerful. Taking bronze to gold level would be too much but silvers should be understandable and even then it's better if they aren't exactly gold level but at least within 5-10k of them. Nah, bronze don't really have better passives but silvers might, though gold still have better and stronger passives overall.

Ahhh, I see. Most of the people I find have the red son team from the pack, those are at least 2/3 of my fights or so. Which I thought was because so many people had them more than anything.

It wouldn't necessarily make him too powerful. Just taking silvers to the level of golds does not really add much, it would just allow you to use characters you like more competitively. You might as well just get a gold and replace darkseid with someone with a better passive. If it is too powerful would ultimately depend on the golds you have. Obviously it would be ridiculous to double their stats but if you do something like give them an extra 10-20% stats it would be sort of reasonable. Or maybe they should just add darkseid subordinates who get a boost from being in a team with him... Some of them are pretty cool after all.

I might be thinking of a few specific passives. I always found silver nightwing to be downright insane. His passive gives him quite an edge in a battle and his SP IIRC are very damaging, at least by silver standards. he could be a threat if his stats approach to gold level. GL has one of the more useful passives, some people even keep him along with their golds for the extra energy. WW as you mentioned is great too... All lex luthors have strong passives....

Yeah that's what it is. The red sons themselves are pretty big magnets and you'd come across them a number of times. At a point, I was getting the same exact team (even in the same order) for about 9/10 battles.

Well, I meant in the sense that some silvers already have pretty powerful passives and same for golds. With passives and gears, golds already get a lot more powerful so adding a character that has powerful stats himself and who gives increased stats to all card types could be a bit complicated. AniHq is the closest to that but she has pretty weak stats to balance it out.

Yeah, Nightwing, GL and WW are pretty good by silver standards. If those three get within gold standards, they likely be superior to quite a number of golds but generally, silvers would have weaker passive types than golds.

Well, I use the red son team and I don't get that many defensive battles. With them I would argue the issue is just how many people have that team. So many people start with that that you are simply bound to run into them. To me it sounds like MP magnets should be characters who are not so common. So even if magnets are a thing they are not something you would see from an attacker perspective. At best it'd be a team you rarely fight against. In turn as a magnet you would notice more people attacking you so to speak.

Well, you also have the red son guys who give boost to all team members, WW who enhances females and several others... I guess it depends on the extent to which the boost works. Maybe going over 20% would be too much but if darkseid gives less than that it would kinda work out. I mean, giving 2 golds an extra 10%-15% stats is neither unheard of nor game changing.
