That's dragon, too. It's modern form. The first one was the archaic form.

It's funny how people ignorant of characters always end-up getting tatoos of simplified characters.
I think the traditionnal ones, used in Korea and Japan too, look so much better.

somebody can help me with this verb, I´ve searched at my dictionary, but i can´t found it:

焚き上げする　「たきあげする」

onegai~ T^T

I've looked up the meaning and this is what I've got:

神社で、神楽などの際に庭火をたくこと。
Tokindle/stir up the fire at the temple's garden.

I couldn't figure out what the first kanji in this picture means. It doesn't help that it's hard to see. Any guesses?

Looks like 量 to me, which is "amount" (and stuff along the lines, would need context to specify what amount ) and works quite fine in that sentence.

Looking for the right Kanji character(s).

Hi to all!

I am looking for the right Kanji character(s) that would best express personal betteremnt (personal improvement, like becoming a better person in a general sense).

What I found on the net is 改善 (KAIZEN) but unfortunately I don't have enough knowledge to tell if this is really what I am looking for.

Can somebody please help?

Hate to bring up the dead topics, but I stumbled across this:

[華倫変] 高速回線は光うさぎの夢を見るか？

As a title and Author. I can't find any translation of the author's name and the author's works on Mangaupdates don't have the creator's name attach to it.

So if you want translate the title into the english - I don't mind. But I'm concerned about the author's name. Can anyone help me out, please? Thanks.

And sorry if I put this in the wrong thread ^^;

(I mean there was two threads. I thought that this was a smaller translation so I asked here.)

改善 means to change for the better. To correct a flaw. It has a strong corporate-culture bottom-up improvement meaning associated with its use under the right context. Depending on your circumstances you will need to be careful if you don't mean that.

There are actually many words to describe personal improvement depending on the primary facet of personal improvement and the style and regiment used as means.

Thanks for the reply.

What I had in mind was more of an intimate, personal betterment. Like getting better in a spiritual as well as in a physical way.

I wanted to express the idea that a person can always be better. Like in the sayng: what does not kill you, makes you stronger.

Specifically, I currently have a very bad moment in my life with my relationship falling apart and what I would like to express is that I don't want to remain bitter about it but learn a lesson and end up a better person than I was.

I hope this explains a little more what I would like to express.

四字熟語どう？

面目一新: new outlook on life (personal betterment included)
更始一新: turn a new leaf
面目躍如: an invigorated approach to life

How are those? As for a simple kanji phrases, I think it's a bit harder to pack in all the meaning.
A more methodical analytical approach to personal development is like 自信研鑽.

About the authors name: It's 'Karinpen' (third line in his Wikipedia entry).
Regarding the sentence I don't really have a clue, but it could be something like:
'Is the broadband seeing a dream of the Light-bunny?'
But it all lies in the context.

Well, I myself have a question:

I'm not sure about a free text in 'Boku to kanojo no XXX' chapter 48, or to say Vol7, chapter 6:
'ちょっと　お義母さんと呼ばれてみたい'
'母親世代　まで...'
It's about a conversation between the main protagonist and her (more or less) mother about dating. The mother is very fond about her daughters partner, calling him handsome and so on when this text is shown. I get the first part, but I don't really get the second line. I'm not sure.
'Til the generation of mothers' sounds very strange.

In your opinion, would 自家改善 make sense? The first part means "personal" or "one-self" and the second means constant betterment ...

A couple small kanji from a smallish scan. Any help is appreciated.

[あんたのじゃお金稼げないでしょ] is what I think it is. 稼 is the one I'm having a hard time figuring out.

[誰が？（○に出るメンバー）] I just need to find out what's the first kanji in the parentheses is.

If you need any context 1 is from a bunch of students trying to decide what to do for a culture festival, and 2 is from the front of a box in which the students have put their suggestions and are going to pick out who, what, and what they will be wearing during the festival.

I like 自己の向上 (jiko-no-koujou).

Maybe I'll get a tattoo with it that will constantly remind me of the philosophy that I strive to follow: "No matter what life throws at you, you should always try to take the good out of it and ultimately become a little better".

I know it sounds cliche, but I like it and I think it is a good philosophy in life.

The first one: 稼 means to earn (money, but it could also mean "to stall/to hold off" if used with the term "time" in 時間稼ぎ) So...
あんたのじゃお金稼げないでしょ = "With yours, you can't make a profit." or something like that.

The second one:
The kanji is 表 which means "front" in this context.
