Re: [Featured] Koe no Katachi by Ooima Yoshitoki

Last month I read the Orchestra of our fingers (Wagayubi no orchestra) by Osamu Yamamoto. It's about the history of deaf people in Japan during the start of 20th century and how they were discriminated and the difficulty of comprehension between deaf and non-deaf. It's a really good and moving story too. I don't think it is translated in English unfortunately.

The first chapter has been translated. Nothing much happened since the story developed around the boy so it is hard to tell if it will take the same direction as the one shot. Honestly I would like that it differs and that the length allow to make something more realistic and less depressing.

The first chapter was the one shot + a little more about Ishida... but I read the one shot quite a while ago so it was fun reading it again, kinda XD
Hope the manga will fulfill the potential the one shot couldn't... it should be pretty good ^^

I just finished reading the second chapter; it is still just an extention from the one shot, but it was much better than the first chapter.

And it looks like the story is going pretty fast than I expected, so I think the elementary school year is kind of introduction of the relationship between Shouya and Shouko and the real story going to start on their high school year.

It seems the Edited Mangas have started to be more regular. Now we have reached the moment the oneshot left so I wonder if it will still continue to focus on the bullying or more on how their relationship will evolve.

Surprisingly no one reads this manga here. Okay, for some reason I missed like 20 chapters or so, but I was pleasantly surprised with this manga so far. I thought this manga was better made as a one-shot, but the drama still consistently poignant after the serialization. Overall a solid read.

I read it too. I'm loving it very much. I have to agree with your last two sentences completely, with the exact same wording. The one-shot was very good, and I didn't expected the serialization to hold my interest as firmly as the one-shot did.

I've been following this manga a while ago, and the last chapters are leaving me wondering lots of stuff.

Like were Kawai Ueno and Mashiba planning something, or it's just Kawai trying to get Mashiba on her side?

The latest chapter just made me on the verge of tears. I think that Ueno is being ridiculous for doing that to Nishimiya. She was one of the reasons why Nishimiya thought of that kind of escape.

The ending is great, there are some things that I wish to be more polished, but I can't complaint about anything really. Overall, I found Koe no Katachi is a really magnificent work, its quality is also pretty consistent too throughout its serialization. I'm waiting for the author's next work for sure.
