I‘ve been told that several people are planning to host games, so to avoid any problems like people cutting into each other‘s game signups and other things we may need a schedule of games.
For anyone who plans to host a game, you can either write in this thread for what month/day you‘re planning a game or edit it in the schedule yourself if you can.
Note that there‘s no limit to how many games can be had per month, but try not to have 2 games running at the same time.
Sign-ups!
To everyone who usually plays MG or those that don‘t want to miss signups, we‘re testing a new way to alert everyone to a new game instead of mass tags before each game.
All you have to do is go to>>this thread<<and press Watch on the top corner of the thread. I or a host will post there and notify everyone like this whenever a new game starts.
While hosting overall isn't necessarily hard, it's very easy to mess things up as we have seen plenty of times already. This naturally happens more often with newer hosts.
In order to get these new hosts familiar with how the game works behind the scenes and make it a smoother experience for everyone (no one wants a cancelled game!), we are establishing these sets of rules that follow the methods that have been used in the last 50 games:
-If it's your first time hosting, it's MANDATORY to have the help of someone that has hosted before. As long as they aren't banned, it doesn't matter if this person hosted twenty times or just once. This experienced host will be the "Main Host", while the new one assumes the role of "co-host".
-Tasks will be split in a rather equal manner so that the Main Host can keep things in check while the Co-host gets hands-on experience to learn properly.
-The Main Host has the final say when it comes to decisions (ideally, this won't need to be enforced heavily, it's mostly to avoid possible issues).
Once the game is over, the co-host can host on their own and even take the role of "experienced host" for a new host in need!
See? He would have still be on in time before day 4 ended. What pisses me off is that the other two inactives got two whole days, 48 hours, to maybe get back into the game and one of them never bothered to show up at all in the game since the beginning whereas kira was active, used his role and did post more than three times expect on day 3. Yes, he should have given the host a pm that he won't make it or something like that but still, hostkilling him 12 hours earlier and him showing up still in time a couple hours later just shows that it would have been FAIR to give him also 48 hours. It would have been even more fair to him considering he was more active than the previous two hostkilled combined. And that's how I want to play my Mafia games: Fair, not convenient for the host. If the host has to sleep pick a co-host who will be awake and has the worked out fluff post for when the day ends. If both hosts are the same timeline then just tell everybody that you will extend the day by two hours to when you wake up the next day, I mean it is not the first time the night went a hour longer or so in this game, why not do it with the day as well. Mafia games aren't quick, I had so many games where a phase was extended by so or so many hours, that's normal. Hostkilling somebody 12 hours before he should have been hostkilled and him showing up 4-6 hours later meaning he would have been able to continue the game by voting and posting three times in the last 8-6 hours left of the day phase just shows that it was wrong to hostkill kira.
Kira should be revived the next day and given one last chance and if he fails to do so again, voting and posting three times, then hostkill him. But till then ask him if he wants to continue the game or if that what kept him from posting enough on day 3 and anything on the half part of day4 is so important that he can't continue playing the game and if he wants to play, then let him. And if not, let him stay dead, but don't kill somebody off who was active, was inactive for one day and still had half a day to prove himself to be active again. Else we can just change the entire game and have the host kill anybody he wants to if he thinks it helps the flow of the game. And that wouldn't be playing mafia anymore where the actions and votings and postings (or the not existence of said posts and votes) of the players are what decides the game, not the hosts hostkills.
James, would you please consider that the hosts take the game as seriously as you are right now, but since they're hosting, their considerations are different? Hosting mafia games in all honesty is a very ungrateful endeavor (generally high fixed costs), and though the games usually end up being fun and spice for all involved, the host has to pick whether or not the game experience of the players outweighs the rights of a player who may or may not check in and follow the game. This particular case might be a bit spice since Kira did (or did not? idk) post within time afterwards, but the issue isn't Lambu's judgment, it's players that sign up but don't actually play. Whether they forgot, they couldn't make it or they just didn't care to try hard, its the fault of players breaking immersion that this stuff happened. Lambo and Emp are really nice guys so it'd be cool if you at least didn't personally attack them over a decision they thought would benefit you.
Hmmm..... James, you are not yourself..... Grab a snickers, my friend....
Or go watch T)Raumschiff Surprise - Periode 1. That’s the limit to my German humor knowledge

I NEVER attacked them personally. I never called them assholes or anything like that. I just called their decision to be BS after two guys getting two full days but the third only get one and a half and outta those three he was the most active one. Could you all please stop personally attacking me for voicing my opinion that this was a BS decision but get it that I still will go on with the game while finding that decision to hostkill kira 10-12 hours earlier than the rest BS?

Besides, look at this, the countdown ended but did a new day start? No, it didn't. So why end the day phase XX hours earlier if the night phase gets XX hours longer? We didn't save any time and the "flow of the game" is always interrupted for those who got no night action anyway. Their reasoning doesn't make sense and they should ask kira if he wants to stay dead or if he thinks he deserves a 2nd chance. After all, he never really got a full 2nd chance with the day cut short by half.
Ah, James, be reasonable. Get a co-host to cover you? How do you think this game started? With a bunch of people and a single host and we would all agree on things that were only reasonable regarding the time of a phase, in case he had to end it sooner or later. You want the game to be above Lambu's and Emp's life? When that became a priority? It was never like that... And what a retarded evolution path, to think that hosts have to always meet the necessities and whims of 30+ players.... that have 24h and often can't dedicate not even 10 mins to make 3 freaking posts and a vote. That's way more inconsiderated than what you're saying to be unfair.
Do what Panda said and try to see the collective benefit in this instead of Kira's isolated case that, again, was caused by himself with his prior actions.
Don't participate if you don't play. It's as simple as that.
It probably wasn't an easy decision for the hosts either. Everyone wants a fair and decent game, but with inactive players, that's not possible.
Even now the game is pretty much run by inactive players, most of the players still alive are the ones that didn't actively participate.
