How do you know it wasn’t just his flames and not his real shoulder? Because there is nothing to assume he has phasing abilities. He did not show it with Motherglare, nor with Makarov, nor with anyone else. Natsu was busy attacking Motherglare when being empowered, surprise is hardly relevant, it was Atlas that finished Motherglare, not Natsu as the angle of the attack does not match, even you can see that, even Mavis stated that not a single DS beat a dragon, Mer was not being serious at any moment, nor were they direct attacks, because he was 50% compared to Natsu who is 100% DG, big difference

KT, Gray needs enough ice to effect all of the ash more than it can turn to ash which can do that to ice as well, that is how it works, Gray does not have Magic cancel that negates magical abilities. Which it is an ocean by proof of it have an abyss zone which oceans have and not seas. And I hardly appreciate your language

Atlas Flame pushed Natsu. Natsu hit Rogue, and then continued pushing Rogue into Motherglare. Either way, Atlas Flame was a subordinate of Igneel's and the person that ended up taking out Motherglare was empowered by Igneel's subordinate.

Mercphobia couldn't hurt Natsu with his roar or waves even before Natsu ate Ignia's flames. The thing that would have killed Natsu was the whirlpool, and the water doesn't even do any damage to the body. The whirlpool just sucks you in and drowns you. Ignia can swim right through that whirlpool. Igneel fought Acnologia for around 20 minutes in a physical brawl, he's more than capable of matching Ignia's casual swimming.

And I said that kanji for sea and ocean are synonymous with each other, and since the qualities match that of the ocean that means it would be the latter
The word 海 (kai/umi) is translated as Sea by every translator, every time it's been used in the manga. In terms of scientific and linguistic accuracy, the word 海 means sea. Now the word 海 can be used to refer to the ocean in casual conversation when you don't care about scientific or linguistic accuracy, much in the same way you can use the word "sea" in English to refer to the ocean. But if a scientist wanted to refer to an ocean as being distinct from the sea, they would be completely unambiguous about it. They would use the word 洋 (yo), as in Pacific Ocean (太平洋) or Atlantic Ocean (大西洋). You're claiming that the manga claims to specify that Mercphobia lifted a body of water as large as a real world ocean. It does not. The literal wording is sea. The most you can do here is conflate the meaning of sea with ocean. None of this matters anyways, as Mercphobia actually dropped all the water back down on Elmina, and it did not crush the city with a continent's worth of water. The excuse that Ignia simply vaporized the water doesn't work. Touka sailed towards Giltena the very next day, which would have been impossible if the ocean was vaporized, unless you think it took only a few hours to rain down an entire ocean (which creates it's own set of problems). Ignia also didn't vaporize the water inside of the villager's body.

So what do we have here? A guy that doesn't really speak Japanese is telling a Japanese speaker that all the other translators got it wrong, and putting more weight over his own interpretation of a translation (that nobody else is using) over feats.

I don't care what you appreciate or not.
Like I told ealier Gray froze the ash before i would reach that level. Gray already froze merc's pillar proving that overall magic power is irrelevant. Gray was not going to flip an ocean with his magic but to prevent spell that was directed at him again. Same thing he did with Skullion. He froze the ash before it can get out of hand.

That is not how it looked, the angle pushes straight into Rogue who is not laying down on Motherglare for the attack to continue to effect him, it was Atlas that would continue the attack, that is wrong as Mavis states otherwise as she witnessed all the battles to know how they went. That is not his body though, those are just flames that come off his body which means it was a brush against him. And sea it translated as ocean in every translator as well in other chapters before Merc flips the ocean, in both scientific and casual conversation, there is not consistent fashion. Hey, you legitimize those translators and they said ocean in multiple occasions, you made your bed, now sleep in it. Merc was not being serious at all, he only got serious after Natsu powered up from Ignia. Yes Ignia evaporated most of the water and there is more water in all the other seas to fill in the gap so it is not inaccessible for boats. Same could be sad about soul reapers in soul society when being in the radius of Yamamoto who has temperature of 15 million degrees.

KT, His ice would turn to ash as well that means he has to match or overpower the energy output of his spell which would be by your logic the entire ocean’s worth, which is not the case as it was only limited to the town, and yet Gray was no match for Merc alone, and freezing sea water is scientifically possible, the spell was not directed at him, he could only freeze it if he has more energy to outmatch Skullions ash making

Not that I care about an argument about how big roar sizes are, but if the roar hit Atlas Flame, then why do we see it shooting off into a mountain?

Because it missed him, it did not hit him since he does not have phasing

So it missed him, in which case Axiomas' actual point stands. Acnologia took the brunt of Igneel's roar rather than the landscape, since Igneel shot it in his face. While on the other hand Motherglare's roar was unhindered and hit the landscape head on, since it missed Atlas Flame.

Irrelevant. Gray just froze the ash before it got out hand. Gray wasn't trying to flip an ocean. He just froze the pillars. Scientific nonsense are irrelvant in the context of a magic world. None can scientifically stop time. This has never been achieved

Which would be his strongest yet, and it pales in comparison to that of Motherglare, so my point still stands at how flawed the logic is

Relevant, Gray had to match and overpower the Ash before it turned his ice to ash as well, so the energy still matches, not when magic still applies to science from the beginning, you can when the dimension of time is removed

Uhuh, because it hit Acnologia instead of the landscape, at least that's what I remember from Axiomas' argument.

Irrelevant. Gray said Skullion was gonna turn ocean to ash. That whats matters.
It has never accomplished. You just say it and we are supposed to believe it. Say it when it has been achieved
M.ashima doesn't care about science nonsense he writes whatever feels like. He never had any planning for FT after phantom lord.
If he thought about Science. He would ever create a guy like Neinhart with his historia of dead which has nothing to do with science.

It doesn't matter what it looks like to you. Atlas Flame never made an attack against Motherglare directly. All he did was push Natsu. Natsu beat Motherglare with the help of Atlas Flame, so Mavis wasn't technically incorrect. Natsu would not have beaten Motherglare on his own. You do realize if the argument is that Mercphobia's roar only hit Atlas Flame's flames and not his actual body, it would mean that Motherglares roar didn't hit anything solid until the mountain right? If Mercphobia missed, all the better. That would still prove my point. Igneel's roar hit Acnologia first. Acnologia took the brunt of the force, and then was pushed back into the mountain. Mercphobia's roar, according to you, glanced off the flames on Atlas' shoulders or missed entirely.

Only the mangastream translators used ocean when referring to Skullion's attack. The weekly sorcerer translators still use sea. It's not up to me to legitimize those translators, and I don't need to rely on the translators. I can read the Japanese when it comes out. Again, you are the one arguing that Mercphobia lifted a body of water as large as a real life ocean. The text simply does not imply this, and the feats do not imply it either. By the way, the amount of water Skullion actually turned to dust is nowhere near that of an actual real life ocean. Skullion's feat was large building level before Gray froze it. It possibly would have grown to city level. At no point was it as large as the entire ocean they were in. So again, what makes you think Mercphobia actually lifted up all the water in the entire ocean between Ishgal, Alvarez, and Alaktasia just because the word sea was used?

What other ocean? There's only 1 ocean between Ishgar, Giltena and Alaktasia. Even if there are other oceans to fill in the water, that would drastically change the ecosystem of the world. There would still be an ocean's worth of water stuck as water vapor. How did Ignia's flames vaporize Mercphobia's water without boiling alive the citiizens of Elmina?

Atlas did make contact based on the force of his attack, that is why Natsu did not defeat Motherglare. Merc did not even fight Atlas flame, don’t know where you got that. Igneel fires his breath was his serious breath and it did nothing. That speaks volumes as to how it was dwarfed compared to Motherglare’s breath. And Sorcerer Weekly in other occasions as well. The point was against KT’s condescending remarks saying it is ocean level which I am arguing it isn’t, besides those other places are other oceans as well, since the world is far larger than that of real earth, it would show other large bodies of water too, and it is not surrounded mostly by land too, Magical part takes its role after, it would make sense for the civilians to survive if the soul reapers can survive 15 million degrees

Atlas Flame literally never touched Motherglare. He pushed Natsu into Motherglare. The manga makes this clear. The anime makes this even more clear. There simply isn't a moment where Atlas Flame ever laid hand on Motherglare. My mistake, I meant Motherglare's roar. If you're saying Motherglare's roar only went through Atlas Flame's flames but never came into contact with Atlas' physical body, that would still prove my point about the roar never hitting anything solid until the mountain. Igneel's roar hit Acnologia, who took the brunt of the force. The explosion would have started from the point of contact, which was where it hit Acnologia.

Where does weekly sorcerer use ocean to describe any of Mercphobia's attacks? Like I said, Mercphobia's and Skullion's feats are nowhere near as large as a real life ocean. Skullion's feat was building level, with the hype of growing into a city level+ if it had continued growing. Mercphobia dropping the sea on the city of Elmina didn't even flood the whole city, and did not hit with the force of an entire ocean. Are the civilians of Fairy Tail all soul reapers? Are we even talking about the same work of fiction?

You do not need to touch someone to send them flying with enough force behind them. That too is legit, whether he did or not, does not make Natsu the defeater of a dragon a dragon defeated a dragon, if you can accept that. A mountain is solid but anyway, it does not make it any weaker than igneel’s breath attack that does not reach the peak of a mountain. Since this is all linked to his power to raise the ocean, when the town was introduced and when Merc talks about his power and when team natsu fights Dragon Eaters. Skullion feat was city level, but scales higher (will not open another can of worms) most of the ocean was evaporated and the difference in temperature is huge compared to sun core temperature and temperature to boil salt water

When Merc lifted water it was no where near multi-continental. It was water worth of a town. Merc never talked about ocean. He just told that his tide sinks elimina because he couldn't control his powers. It might have reached the next town but it's irrelevant here. We are talking about 50% merc what could have happened is irrelevant. Doesn't change the fact he was town level with his water doing building damage. Even when Ignia released his flames to evaporate the water it never completely destroy elimina as well.

It was by mass of the ocean and speed of distance and time it took to reach the sky. Does not change he lifts the ocean with the tides and to the sky at 50%. Yes he did talk about the ocean. Fire does not need to completely destroy something, just what the user targets which is Merc who send what’s left of the ocean to the flames to stop it where they would be evaporated
