From my perspective, Grey is the most underrated character in the 100-year Quest. It reminds me of the contrast of Gohan in Dragon Ball Z and the Gohan of DBS who gets killed by a pichenette of Frieza in his basic form. At the end of the original serie, Grey was still Natsu’s rival, playing equally in condition both out of control and moral off. Today, he is the only one who has not had his revenge against Diabolos letting float the fact that he is still below, before passing for a coward waiting for Mirajane to be weakened to face her. In the original serie, Grey was a strategist, not a runner. It’s very different. Like many characters of Mashima, his Statue no longer corresponds to his feats of arms. He gives the impression of having regressed greatly since Albaress while the other members of the group are stronger : Erza and Laxus are at the top of their power and stronger than ever, Wendy and Lucy have shown a consistent evolution. A disaster for Grey who seems to be weaker while at the end of Arbaless I could count him at the top of the Guild. Why so much hate for this character ?
Haku is Diabolos' most underrated character. Why ? Because he lost to Wendy ?
Wendy owes her victory only because her magic was the only one that could counter his hax. Because Eileen was there to guide her and allowed her a finish. Because Haku was in love with her and no more focused on the fight.
It’s still a lot of parameters. Haku is still extremely dangerous. Who, apart from an enchanter or enchantress, can counter his doll spells ?
To say that Haku is weak because he lost to Wendy is simplistic reasoning. Wendy’s magic, combined with Eileen’s knowledge, was certainly the most suitable against Haku. His natural enemy. Just as Wendy’s magic was better suited to face Skullion than Natsu, Grey or Mira. Or Sting/Rog more suitable to face Larcade than Jellal or Laxus.
It’s not about power here, it’s about proper magic.
The undervaluation of Haku’s level within Dabolos by readers is feared. If the other 3 BDSK members are stronger in terms of physical damage, Haku is certainly the most dangerous, being able to put an end to super fighters with a snap of his fingers.
