Re: Nana by Ai Yazawa - Discussion
the chapters are also distributed in Mangatraders.com
This is a series of reflections, actually. I refrain from stating unfounded stuff and prefer asking a lot.
By saying "you are the most special person to me" to Reira, and then telling her "are you sure you just want to be one of my women?" means that this was a change of position in Takumi's heart for Reira. That to be just "one of his women" would mean losing her "innocence" or purity that Takumi has revered for so long.
My question is, what does Takumi mean by all of this? Did he in fact, love Reira as a woman and respected her, and that because she has again asserted herself for him, he has given in to the temptation? If so, was he holding back only because he thought he was unworthy of her love, or that he didn't love her like she wanted at all?
However, right after the kiss, Takumi announces to the world that he should get work done to go home to his wife. Does this show that my assumptions on Takumi's character is still correct? That when he accepts lovers, they do not at all compare to the woman he actually loves? And then a follow-up question on that would be, is Hachi really that woman?
Probably his expression of guilt shows that he has actually "cheated" for the first time? That all the women he's had so far he had no emotional attachments to, and that this time with Reira, he might not keep his emotions at bay?
And yet, he burned the letter. Does this give us a sign that Takumi has ultimately decided that he will not have any feelings for Reira, and that since she has agreed to become one of his lovers, she will no longer be as important as she was?
Also, when Reira heard about Takumi saying stuff about going home, she had a certain expression. Though from that panel I could not decide if it was guilt that she had wrecked the "family" of Takumi and Hachi, or that of regret that even after surrendering herself and losing her pride, she could still not "get" Takumi.
kyaaa. So many questions, and so many chapters to go!
