True, true. Nnamdi was thought to basically be only behind the Deion.

I wanted to see something about Deion, so I took a look at something, and apparently he just won a custody battle with his estranged/ex-wife.

Ryan Fitzpatrick was never very good and no one understood why the Bills gave him that contract. Now the only question is whether someone will give him a job as a backup somewhere. I wasn't comparing him to Nnamdi, however.

It was just that I saw that Ryan Fitzpatrick got released, so I mentioned it.

I don't know why Pollard's leaving, but apparently he tweeted that he "was done in Baltimore."

Welker's apparently talking to the Broncos, although we don't know if that's just a tactic to get more money out of the Patriots.

Well, if there's one team he could move to and have a shot at being as effective, the Broncos would be it. He'd be nuts to go elsewhere, unless the Patriots were just incapable of giving him fair money and he was left with no choice.

Seems that we have lost Welker to the Broncos on a two year deal. Two years? I can't believe he'd take that when he wanted a long term deal. Two years/12M though? That's less than he'd get from the franchise tag. Supposedly we only offered two years/10M, but I can't believe that.

We'll need to make an acquisition now.

I guess, but he was surely worth at least 7-8m a year to us...

The thing is though that we had to give him the money. Even if he is older, he makes so many key catches for us. He caught 118 passes last season, six more than all of the other Pats WRs combined.

This is rather disappointing. However, this was bound to happen given both sides weren't able to really compromise in contract talks for the past several months or year I believe. The Patriots just had to play hard ball. I like Julian E, he's seems like he can be worthy replacement for Wes Welker in the future. However, the Patriots are going to miss a lot of production they would have received next season from Wes by not giving him the contract he deserved, so he would have stayed in New England. He's arguably the best slot receiver in the league and has some of the most reliable hands. He is a production machine year in and year out. PAY THE MAN. Sheesh. I don't blame him for leaving to go to Denver for more money and the chance to play along side the greatest regular season QB in Peyton Manning. Good luck to him.

The thing is that we paid hm 9.5m last season for the franchise tag, so I can't believe we couldn't have offered him 7 or 8m a season

Yeah, there were rumors about it last week. Even after purging and adding Canty and Spears, we were still $10m under the cap. Someone mentioned that we could restructure some contracts, so I wondered if they did that. I think it would be worth it for a player of his caliber and bad luck for Denver results in good fortune for us. What a weird story... Supposedly Michael Huff had visited us, but supposedly this draft is super deep at the Safety position and we have 12 picks, so I'm not sure what else we need to do in Free Agency. There are still some cheap options at ILB.

Says it's 5 years/35m (12m guaranteed) and probably some bonuses, as I think ESPN said it averaged out to 8.5m a year.

The first year cap hit is only $2.5m, due to the signing bonus most likely. A drop in the bucket as far as the cap goes.

He's a better than average quarterback, at least. Bet the deal backfires in few years. I here it's backloaded.

I don't care whether it's backloaded or not. It's 55m guaranteed and that's the problem. More than that, you could've given Romo like 6 years/70m and he would've jumped at it. Romo's not the man to lead the Cowboys to glory, however, so it's a bad move no matter how you look at it.
