Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

Sorry if this has already been discussed:

Any others or guesses?

Also is there a list of all the devil fruit powers mentioned so far?

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

There is nothing to say that Blackbeard can't reconstitute himself with darkness if he ever gets ripped in half.

At the moment, we know he can't use darkness to let things pass through him, but even when they hit him, he sucks in the effect. So logically, if something killed him, the darkness could suck up the damage and just pull him back together. Darkness emanates from his body, his body is darkness, but it cannot turn into darkness.

It's kind of like a banana, the outside layer isn't edible, and it isn't really food, but its still a banana, because it holds the essence of a banana.

Not that it matters, but it is actually edible. At least that's what the pictures of Apes eating bananas suggests:s

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

I see Lafitte has a flying power and I remember Sengoku mentioning another flying pirate (Kinjishi)but that's about it.
I can see there being a flying Ancient Zoan type of a fruit user, possibly a Terradactyl. And i'm sure we will see an Eagle or a Hawk and what not, but just being abe to fly is a pretty awesome gift in itself.

Blackbeard said that he can't avoid damage like other logias. Other logias have to be ready when they are receiving a blow. Otherwise they will die if someone cuts them in half.
Do you think that if Blackbeard got a hold of Kizaru and cut him in half with a sword, that Kizaru could just reform and continue fighting? No, because he would die either from shock or blood loss pretty soon.
Blackbeard can't avoid damage. If Mihawk cuts him into two, he's going to die screaming.

Oh yeah, about flying fruits. It's possible that there are more which weren't discovered yet.

Actually we saw Kizaru get shot at and cut in half and he didn't even really know what was going on, yet he was fine. And saying that Logia's have to be ready to "reform" is like saying that Luffy has to be ready in order for his rubber to work.

If you can show me the panel in which Kizaru was bleeding when he was hit by Apoo, than I'll acknowledge that you're right.
But since we both know that there was no blood, I don't see that happening.

Kizaru may have been surprised, but he was already in his light mode. That's why, no blood. Same as Ace on Banaro, when Auge shot him. Ace was ready for an a surprise attack. He would be a fool if he came to fight 5 men unprepared.

Luffy is not a logia. His paramecia power is constant. He has been rubbery ever since he ate the fruit. He doesn't have to activate rubber mode or anything.

What are you talking about? What is "light" mode? And where does it say that Logia's enter into "modes" to protect themselves from average attacks? The only time we have see Logia's change form is when they travel/move fast. So is this like some sort of weird fanfiction?

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

We know from Crocodile that if Logia DF users train their fruits enough, they can hone it to a point where they can turn into their elements reflexsively.

The only time we've seen Kizaru bleed is when facing Rayleigh and that was when he used his Yata no Kagami to follow Zoro, Brook and Ussop but got stopped by Rayleigh. It hasn't been explained how he made him bleed, could be haki, could be something else, dunno.

Paramecia fruits are completly different, they're more "superman" fruits that don't need activation or anything...

Wow, calm down.

It's not some fan fiction. It's common sense. It doesn't have to be written anywhere. One just needs to read and understand how it works.

Logias aren't constantly in their element. That's why some of them receive hits when they aren't prepared. Like Smoker and Ace on Alabasta. When Luffy tackled them both.
And some of them have prefected the use of their fruit and it's hard to surprise them. Like Kizaru. When he landed, a guy tried to gun him down, but the bullet just passed through him. It's the same as later when Apoo thought that he killed him. But there was no blood. Everyobdy who was sliced in One Piece so far, was bleeding.

Oh yeah, about the modes. I'll use the easiest example. Remember when Luffy fought Aokiji? Here Luffy kicks Aokiji in the air. And here, Luffy uses Storm but Aokiji avoids the damage and freezes Luffy.

Crocodile lost because he was unable to avoid Luffy's attacks by activating his sand mode, so to say, because Luffy's fists were wet.

And you're saying it's fan fiction?
No, because it's all Oda.

Well you still make 0 sense, so i'm going to take Oda's actual word over what you say is "logical".

Well you still make 0 sense, so i'm going to take Oda's actual word over what you say is "logical".
But it is what Oda showed us. That's what Razh is trying to say.

Just like he and goldb say: Logia DF users aren't in their "logia forms" all the time, they have to "turn it on"; that's what Razh means by "mode", he means the "time when a logia user is in his respective logia form".
It isn't just logic, it is what Oda himself has shown us, just like goldb said, in the case of Crocodile: he has trained himself so much that he switches into "logia mode" by reflex. And the same can definitely be said for Kizaru. Just like Razh points out in his previous post...

So the difference between logia and paramecia is that the logia user, still has to "turn his ability on", consiously or reflexively either way he still needs to turn it on. Whereas paramecia fruit users, like Luffy for example, don't have to turn their power on. They are always in that form. Luffy can't choose to "turn his power off".

That's what they're trying to say, and it does sound logical to me. Hope you can see what I'm trying to say... :amuse

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

i dont know about that guys. i always thought logia types fruit users are always in their element form. just like luffy is always in his rubber form. ok hes not logia but wtv. an example of that is that blackbeard will always take much more damage then a normal human because hes darkness. itd be dum for him to stay in his element mode and take all the damage if he can switch back and forth to his element stage. and another example that your theory doesnt make sense is that i dont believe that kizaru can switch that fast to his element form. like when he took that bullet in his head while he wasnt even paying attention. and kizaru is fkin dum so i doubt he could actually change that fast.

your theory about switching is obviously false. the only thing you can debate with is the time when smoker flew in ace in arabasta, but that was pure comical.

I think you guys are agree about at least some things.
Razh, when you are saying that if Ki Zaru got really injured, he cannot reset the damages : if we see Ki Zaru with blood, he is injured and cannot heal ; that is something that we already saw with Eneru and Crocodile. If they could heal after being really injured, they could not have been beaten and Luffy would have not won those fights. That is not the case. If logias are hurt, they are hurt : that is right.
But what have said zerocooldx works too. Kizaru has been cut in half and he lost his arm : but that does not mean for a logia that he would be really injured. So, what you have both said here is right.

If you can show me the panel in which Kizaru was bleeding when he was hit by Apoo, than I'll acknowledge that you're right.
As I said, if he had shown you that kind of panel, it would have made no sense because we all know that logia users really injured (that means with blood if you want) cannot recover ...
But that does not mean that your postulate, which is that if a logia suffers an attack by surprised, he is really injured, is true.
From what I have seen, that is not a rule among the logias.
You can show the example of Alabasta with Smoker, Ace and Luffy but this is not a viable one for me because of the kairouseki sword. The kairouseki sword prevent the probability of that example from being 100 % sure : that is an undeniable thing. Moreover, we do not see after if they had real damages/injures from that (see the Kizaru/Apoo case at the end of this post that could also considers this event).
Personally, I think he is totally unvalid because of that and that does not make an example. Anyway, even if that example would work, zerocooldx has shown you a 100 % valid counter-example : a logia attacked by surprised (here Ki Zaru) has not been really injured : that definitely means your postulate is not an undeniable truth.

Before reacting by quoting and saying you do not agree that this is a viable counter-example (because I suppose you will stand your ground), just read the following explanation because I will explain why this is a viable proof that makes your postulate be not valid.
So, if you want to show me I am wrong when I am saying that your postulate is not valid, show me that my explanation of that proof is wrong ; otherwise, you would have proven nothing.
I said that because I have already seen people quoting some part of a post to destroy his ideas whereas they do not pay attention (often because it bothers them) to the explanations of the ideas.

Kizaru may have been surprised, but he was already in his light mode. That's why, no blood. Same as Ace on Banaro, when Auge shot him. Ace was ready for an a surprise attack. He would be a fool if he came to fight 5 men unprepared.
First of all, why do you use " may have been " as if you were doing a concession to zerocooldx. This is not " may have been " but " have been " : Ki Zaru said himself he has been felled because he was surprised.
Ki Zaru was not in his light mode : that is false.

Let's begin by explaning what can be the different states of a classical logia (that have the intangibility) to make sure we are talking about the same thing :
- there is the logia mode. This is when the logia user is turned into his element : that is the name I give to this state.
nota bene : * the logia can decide to turn only a part of his body in this state and let the rest is normal mode
* with Eneru, we have seen this state at his maximum, when a logia is totally AND constantly turned into his logia mode : here and here.
- there is then the normal mode : the logia is in his normal appearance.

These are the two possible states of a logia : either he is in a logia state, either he is not.
Now, that I have defined the two states, I can continue.
Normally, a logia is always in his normal mode (we have never seen a logia that is constantly during his all-day-life in a logia state).
When a logia is fighting, he is often already in his normal mode and he can suffer an attack from the ennemy.
There is two possibilites for a logia when he suffers an attack in normal mode :
- either he sees the attack coming and turned into the logia state when he is hit : what can be assimilated to a reflex in some situations.
- either he is surprised and suffers the attack.
Now, can we see the consequence of the two possibilities ?
In the first case, the logia do not have problems, he turns into his logia state just before the attack and suffers it : then of course, it spreads his matter a little around him as he has turned into the logia mode for the clash. That is what happened when Auge shot Ace in Barano Island as you said, Razh.
In the second case, the body of the logia suffers the movement of the attack normally. That is what happened with Ki Zaru when he was surprised by Apoo's attack. He said himself he did not see the attack coming, so, he could not have turned into the logia mode when he was hit. If you do not believe that, you can see the difference between the Kizaru-Apoo case and the others.
That second case does not mean the logia user is really injured because his logia power still protects him : that is what make your postulate be false. That is what happened with Ki Zaru : his normal arm and his normal body were cut but there was no blood because his logia DF automatically activated the intangibility after the body " took the attack ". The body is cut but automatically becomes protected by the intangibility power. So, his logia by himself had prevented the real body from real damages. That is why Ki Zaru is not injured and his logia " rebuild " them : you saw with your own eyes how the light recreated Ki Zaru's body at a different place.

That notice that in the second state the logia df still protects the logia user works because the logia user suffers a normal attack. His DF activated by himself to do his job (protect him), and not by Ki Zaru's own decision. That means the logia user was not really injured and the logia did not regenerate real damages to the real body.
If this had been a special attack (with the weakness of the DF for example), in the two cases (automatically or decided), the DF could not have done his job and could not have protected the DF user : he would have really been injured.

That is how I explain the main differences with logia users in normal state that suffer an attack with their matter spreading and Ki Zaru in normal state that had been felled by Apoo but nevertheless was not injured. Anyway, even if my interpretation is not totally clear, I think it shows that a logia attacked by surprised is not for sure injured : it depends on the attack : if it is a normal or a special one that prevent the DF user from his powers.

Moreover, your postulate means that if a logia is turned into his logia mode and stayed in his logia mode, he cannot be injured. BUT that is not always true. That works with the kairouseki because the kairouseki take out the power of the DF and the DF user does not stay in his logia mode and so, is injured. BUT That does not always work with natural weakness : the natural weakness does not always take the power of intangibility of the DF user : it just directly injures them. When Eneru was in full in logia mode, that idea do not work : indeed, see that image : Eneru is still in logia mode, does not become again a normal body, when he is injured by Luffy's punch.

Whereas paramecia fruit users, like Luffy for example, don't have to turn their power on. They are always in that form. Luffy can't choose to "turn his power off".

That's what they're trying to say, and it does sound logical to me. Hope you can see what I'm trying to say... :amuse
Your post is totally right : Kizaru, Crocodile have normally reflex to turn suddenly in the logia mode when the attack is going to " touch " them. And the rest too is right.
Nevertheless, you forgot to consider the second case I explained : when the logia user suffers an attack he had not seen and could not turn by himself in logia mode before the attack touches them. That means when our logia users that have normally the time or/and the reflex to turn into logia mode do not manage to do it. So, you considered the consciously, reflexively cases but not the automatically case.
That last case is exactly what happened with Ki Zaru and Apoo : and this is the only example of such a situation.

Luffie's kick did nothing to Aokiji, the guy didn't even change his facial expression. Who by the way is also made of ice, which is solid material, unlike light. Not to mentiuon the fact that one is an Admiral and to an Admiral Luffy is an ant. And for all we know when Luffy tackled Ace and Smoker could have been the first sign of Luffies Haki. And Blackbeard even stated that Luffie's Haki had gotten stronger without Luffy even using it. So when Luffy tackled Ace and Smoker that could have very well been the first time that Oda decided to show us Luffies awakening Haki. Or i can answer both questions by saying it could have simply been because it was "light contact", meaning that it was not strong enough to cause any real harm/damage. Otherwise the Logia's would not be able to touch anything and they would be like ghosts and whats the point of Oda doing that right? Doesn't that sound rather "logical"? But i'm not going to make an entire theory on it, because then anyone can twist what we have "seen" to suit their own theory. As fun as theories are, the back drop is that everyone has em. So untill i see Oda directly telling us that Logia's go in and out of Logia mode i'm just not buying it.

Somebody here needs to do some serious rereading. It would be a waste of time to argue about this further. I can't believe that such a simple matter is even being debated.

No, I think it's good it's being debated. 'Cause I really have to agree that the logia-fruit abilities are a very dubious matter.
While I totally agree with your previous points, I also have to agree with what Lord Rayleigh said. He made some very good points. ^^

That second case does not mean the logia user is really injured because his logia power still protects him : that is what make your postulate be false. That is what happened with Ki Zaru : his normal arm and his normal body were cut but there was no blood because his logia DF automatically activated the intangibility after the body " took the attack ". I have to agree with the point you make here.

Both sides make valid points, and especially the point that you just made about the "surprise attack" from Apoo put a dent in the whole "activation" of the logia-mode.

But I think I found the answer in this explanation (from One Piece wiki):
About logia:

"With these fruits, the user may actually become a natural element, as well as generate and manipulate it. They are neither completely human nor element in their default state. Logia users can turn completely into their element if they want to. This is often used for crossing great distances fast, or avoiding blows should their weakness be discovered."

So you could say that since in their default state a logia is neither completely human, neither completely logia he gains the ability to deal with surprise attacks like Apoo's.

Although the One Piece wiki also says this:

"The only other time a physical blow may hurt the user is when he or she is caught off guard, as this gives the user no time to mentally change into their elemental form. However, the powers of a Logia can be trained to counter this problem, an example being Crocodile's, who honed his abilities to the point of being able to turn on his powers as a reflex to a blow."

This is what Razh, goldb and me were talking about.

But this kind of contradicts what they say first right? I mean, when a logia user doesn't "switch on" full elemental mode, he is in his default mode, which is neither fully human, or fully elemental. So why would they put this explanation about the "reflexive" turning on of their powers??

I don't get it anymore, like I say, it's quite ambiguous. Seems like we can't get a definitive answer just yet...

That last case is exactly what happened with Ki Zaru and Apoo : and this is the only example of such a situation.
Yes, like I said. I fully agree. But you have to agree that even your explanation is just speculation. ^^

It's a difficult subject if even the One Piece wiki contradicts itself. :p

Luffie's kick did nothing to Aokiji, the guy didn't even change his facial expression. Who by the way is also made of ice, which is solid material, unlike light.
I also agree with you, so I have to conclude that Oda has shown us things that support both sides of this debate. Therefore a discussion about this subject will always turn out to reference to the same things in the manga again: i.e. Luffy catching Smoker and Ace by surprise on the one hand, and Kizaru not being hurt by Apoo's surprise attack on the other... :eyeroll

So like I said, the manga doesn't provide with enough evidence to fully take one side on this debate. :notrust

Whew, what a drama. :darn ;)

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

Unrelated hypothesis: Jesus Burgess has a giant squid/octupus fruit or some other crazy Zoan for wrestling.
