Heres a question, who thinks that the Supernovas that were taken down either by Kiazru or the Pacifistas will also be set for execution? I mean we all saw quite a few of them being taken out, yet we haven't seen them in Impel Down. So this makes me think that quite possibly they have been at Marine HQ this entire time.

wow, pretty good news for north america after the live sub failure. 5 volumes a month is pretty tough though. I understand that they finally want to get up to date, but do you think that will sell well at this rate?

It would be rather nice if Viz were to put them out in the Viz big editions. It would make it a little more affordable. 5 volumes a month is approxomately $50 here. I would like to support this decision from Viz by buying them, but I don't think I can afford it .

they charge you 10$ for every volume? that's around 3$ more than here (if my currency juggling is right (it's 5€ for volumes new or old) - so that's a lot of diffrence over all
are there any extras ro something? that really keeps me wondering

I think it would be 2,15$ in plus than in Europe (one of my Packard Bell gadgets says 1€ worth 1,4$).

I think it's like $7.99+tax actually, so I just round up to $10 (it makes the math easier). The Viz Bigs (3 volumes in one book) are about $17.99, iirc. So it's a little bit cheaper.

I bought some One Piece volumes in Japan when I was there a few weeks ago. It was 400 yen for the latest volumes and 390 yen for the older ones. That's a little more than $4 US I believe. It's $6.60 NZ which is cheaper than you can get them where I live, plus it feels more traditional

That's a very good price but I suppose they were in japonese and not in english, not everyone could read them ? Maybe, in Japon they sell english mangas, do someone know ?

The majority of people in Japan can read Japanese and I didn't see any manga in English when I was in Japan. Maybe it's cheaper in Japan because they don't have to waste money importing the books

But that still doesn't explain the non-imported books aka the English versions XD Considering the price difference for most things in Japan as compared to English, it's always weird to find smaller things, like books, selling for less.

Although, were you buying used ones? The last time I went to Japan, most of the manga books I bought were 600+ yen.

What are you referring to by "English versions"? Like I said, because the manga books are manufactured (i.e. printed) in Japan they save money by not needing to pay shipping fares, packaging fares etc. Therefore, prices for the books are lower despite the higher living cost in Japan compared to other countries.

And no, I never buy used books. If you're paying 600+ yen for one manga book, there's something wrong. All the normal SJ manga books cost 390 or 400 yen.

It is just that I would have been intested in that piece of information if they had producted english versions at that same price too.
And I knew that the majority of people in Japan can read Japonese and that their mangas are in japonese. I hoped they produced mangas in english too, I thought a moment it was possible, to help japonese kids to learn english for example.

I think japanese are worse than french wrt to foreign languages, and I'm not sure an English manga would sell really well. And the reason why there are most expensive abroad is just that the editor has to pay for the franchise and the translation and also maybe because we are used to have books more expensive, a BD is around 9€ for the cheapest and that's also the price of a pocket book (at least in France).

well as I said, germany can't really complain with the 5€ we pay though that's still around 2€ more than in Japan. This diffrence though is not really much for what happens inbetween, not so much the shipment since I'm sure that our books are printed here and not in Japan, but they practically have to set up a whole new book with the SBS and other stuff on front and back and also translate the text.

manga completly in a diffrent language than the one spoken in a country sell bad everywhere I guess. there are cases of english and other language titles though ... seems to be decoy <.<

But the french-speaking (more precisely the Belgians) are the kings of BD (something that must not be assimilated to comics, that is definitely not the same thing, nor the same level).
We are so lucky with the BD, something that a lot of people do not know. I am not even sure that the MH members know the names of J. Van Hamme and E.P. Jacobs.

I'm not sure I get what you mean, are you saying that in Germany, the mangas are edited in the traditional western reading way (left to right) ?

errr, no. they are just the same as mangas all over the world afaik. but One Piece gets diffrent covers for example. minimal changes that all cost money. these are the cents that sum up to be some euro in the end.

No, I can read a tiny bit of Japanese but not enough to be able to read a manga. The English versions would definitely be more expensive as the English versions of the manga that you and I get in our countries is not published in Japan.

From this statement, I interpreted that you thought people in Japan couldn't read Japanese manga. I apologise if I have misunderstood you.
