One Piece Mega Convo Thread, the 2nd Chapter

Yes, the only good part about the Foxy arc (except if Aokiji encounter counts) was Afro Luffy/Brother spirit. That was hilarious. Still, the arc felt like a filler arc in the anime or something.

I believe I've earlier said Thriller Bark was my favorite arc, but that was probably because it was right after Brook's flashback which was one of the most awesome moments in One Piece so far. My ranking atm would probably be something similar to bittman's, except with Alabasta ranking over Arlong Park.

HOWEVER, if Shabondy is considered it's own arc, it beats both Thriller Bark, Arlong Park and Alabasta, possibly tied with W7/EL. It had good pace, great atmosphere and awesome characters that weren't just cameos (like the current arc) but actually seemed relevant to the situation. There were lots of good fights both including said awesome characters (Supernovae + Kizaru and PX's who still felt fresh and exciting at the time) and Straw Hats. There were hilarious moments, emotional moments and "epic moments" that were actually epic (I know everyone throws that word around a lot lately, but don't tell me it's not a word that fits the ending to the Shabondy arc).

I'm one of the people a bit disappointed in the current arc, but come to think of it, perhaps that's just because it followed Shabondy Arc and Impel Down (which was also pretty darn good). Amazon Lily left out deliberately (since it was nowhere near as good as SA and ID).

Why Marineford is bad? I think it's awesome. War are always difficult if you want to not centralize the story around only one character and more if you've to deal with dialogues and all that stuff.

Oda did an amazing job this arc. For me, it's right after Water 7 and Arlong Park.

I wouldn't call it bad, just disappointing imo. Some people have already started rating the arc, and if I had to, I'd probably give it a 7/10 (though I'm sure it's not entirely over yet, since there is usually some aftermath and stuff).

We got to see some pretty nice fights, but a few too many pointless cameos that weren't really relevant. Great art, though Oda really could've taken it easy on the double spreads and used those pages for plot progression instead of "omfg another epic Whitebeard attack!!". The emotional and epic moments did seem emotional and epic when you read them, but didn't really leave a lasting expression. It was a pretty good arc, but that is still disappointing because it had potential of being one of the best so far.

and luffy help them out and gains another nakama.

i wrote all that to say oda has shown so many new abilites over the past couple of years, he had to save something for the new world. i kinda like been left in the dark a bit, just makes it that much more interesting when they are revealed

Chess YOU NAILED IT!!! We got an idea of what to expect in the future but we still know very little of these people's true power. I loved this arc. i was speechless for half of the week because of it. the only part i was a little sad is that we never saw WB at his full power, but we might get some flashback chapters clearing that up so im not disappointed and as much as i hate to admit WB served his purpose.

As Chess said, I think that because it's not the final war, Oda could not reveal much BUT He needed to show some in order to leave hints for the future.

I BET this arc has more hints that the one we can see now.

Well, speaking of the marinford arc, i think that Ace's death and WB's death aren't enough emotional, i dunno... Compared to Hiluluk's death or Norland Montblanc and Karugara ( or something like that ) relationship, it wasn't that good... And of course, the pirates side in this war was kinda disappointing, i really was expecting something from the captains of the NW world, and Marco and Jozu, WB rocked the show even although he was old... And the way Oda showed us the admirals supremacy (at least, he should have made Kizaru and Aokiji take some serious hits like Akainu) was kinda annoying, if the strongest crew in the world couldn't manage to seriously hurt the admirals, then this is really bad.

I just hope in the anime, that they will put Hiluluk's death theme when they will animate Ace's death, cuz' that song was DAMN GREAT ! It was the most emotional moment in OP for me

And besides that, the war was good, and it was really entertaining, no one could have predicted WB's death that way, WB using his powers to create tsunamis and other stuff, or Ace's death, or the Marines plan, BB plan too, Marco's awesome entry, Squaddo stabbing WB, Garp's super awesome appearance when he punched Marco and sit in the chair in a real badass way, Luffy's determination and guts, and his displaying of Haki thus surprising everybody in the war... I mean, it was a great great great war ! Thank you Oda !

instead of just lamely introducing characters every now and then this arc could be considered of an introduction purpose its true that its not satisfying but we ve seen cool moments sad moments very strong moments so its not a waste i mean if there are things you to come and we get to see some intense fighting in the future then its fine .

It's a war, so it's normal that nobody realy stands out, as both sides lose some big and low ranking members.

His weapon probably eat a chomp-chomp fruit.^^

The one with the patches could have a devil fruit like Capone, just with the model: weapons-locker/storage instead of fortress.
