1. I don't think the fruit will grow back so fast. Remember, it's only been around 1 year in One Piece time in these 575 chapters...

Well, even if it does not grow back in the next time, there is still this pending timeskip, that could make a "Vegapunk hunts for the Mera Mera no Mi" arc/sidearc/coverstory possible after FI. That's one of the best ways to get him into the storyline without actually having ot return to the Marines Headquarters to meet him, which is extremly unlikely to happen.

3. I think his character basis is taken from Da Vinci, being years ahead of his generation. Therefore he will be very dedicated to his work instead of the events outside his experiment lab, meaning, he doesn't care much about pirates vs. marines etc.

well that certainly sounds nice and I'd like to believe that, but he's the one creating all kinds of stuff that mostly give the marines an advantage, so even if he doesn't fight himself he has clearly taken a side.
should the Strawhats ever meet him I at least expect Luffy to get his revenge on Sentoumaru, even if Kizaru isn't near and Kuma only in the form of some Pacifista;

I think onepiece is going to undertake a COMPLETE change as they are heading into the neworld after this. I think the world goverment are finshed now and the balance has tipped and thats what blackbeard aimed to do. I think the previous nature of onepiece usualy being the strawhats against the world goverment will now be the strawhats against the blackbeard pirates and his followers who could possibably may become a evil empire figure (lols) seeing as he could either take charge of all pirates who hated whitebeard or become the new controler of the world goverment. could be a possible match up with the revolutionary army seeing as blackbeards powers look similar to Dragons= status for onepiece near end = luffy had killed his dad and brother seeing as blackbeard + crew are looking like stawhats mortal enimies

Theres gona be a lot of philosphical development now I could see something like the idealogy of the "pirate" loosing its meaning or something from possible changes that i mentioned above. we might see luffy for the first time loose his way like give up on life because of aces death and his failure. anyway onepiece is truly amazing how its managed to continue for so long at a good standard without most of the main cast. Its going to be sooooo epic when luffy meets back with the crew seeing as its been so long (funny thinking that in onepiece time hes only been seperated for like a week lol its seems like 10 years to me.)

In a quest for more badguys for Chopper's moral quest to doctor-dom, I expect Vegapunk to be Dr Gero / Dr Wily. Emmett Brown would be amusing, but nothing more than that. Then again, Chopper could use a mentor rather than all these bad guys for him to keep morally lording over.

Wonder if he'll join the, very rare, crew of doctor-scientists that aren't german? Too many german smart people in japanese mangas.

I don't really know how he would get his hands onto the fruit, but the thought of Thousand Sunny getting to eat the fruit is brilliant. XD One of the strongest fruits being used onto a ship, being a remembrance to Ace, it would give the Mugiwara crew a Poneglyph level ship, upgrading their 10. crew member Sunny without a cover story. nice³

So far, we've seen no examples of anything than zoans being implanted into objects. It makes sense because animals have instincts of their own. That's probably what those awakened zoans are. The animal rules instead of a man.
How would a sword use fire logia, for example? Or a rubber fruit?
And a ship with fire logia, what, he turns into fire and all of the crew members fall through the fire? Or the Sunny turns parts of him into fire selectively?

You might say that Oda makes weird things work in this manga, but there are limits to everything. For me, it would suck if Sunny becomes even more special then it is now. With the docks, flying, cannons and stuff, it's supposed to have a devil fruit too? Kinda of an overkill.

As for Vegapunk, I always thought that he was some guy distracted from reality, who only thinks about his inventions or how to upgrade them. He doesn't care about pirates or marines, good or bad, he just invents stuff. It's possible that he joined WG out of his own goals. They were probably the only ones who could finance his work enough so he doesn't need to worry about resources.
But there's also a good chance that he's really evil.

What do you guys think about Vegapunk having the brain brain no mi? Would that be lame or cool?

I hope that when they find the fire fire no mi left from Ace growing somewhere the one who ends up to get the power will be the thousand sunny or maybe Coby?

Is that WB commanders weapon an animal with a waepon devil fruit or a weapon with a strange animal or creature devil fruit?

A DF user dying (especially one we know) is rare in One Piece, it's kind of the perfect tool for Oda to use to explain it. At the same time, I can imagine something like Ace's fruit appearing like a "legacy" left to Luffy to encourage him to fight to the end.

Why do I think it won't be eaten? Kinda detracts from Ace, and basically makes the "eater" Ace, but not. So either everyone will forget Ace, or everyone will superimpose Ace's face over the top of the new guy.

Why do I think the fruit will appear near the end? BB vs Luffy. If there's ever a Ace moment left in this manga, it would be in this fight.

And Oda will leave the DF regrowth explanation to WB's devil fruit. I mean, that's a fruit. If the marines kill WB, and the fruits to regrow fast, no-one will give a shit about One Piece. It'll basically be a mad dash to find the quake quake no mi. I mean, its a fruit that can literally destroy the world if used incorrectly.

Imagine that sort of power in the hands of someone far less responsible than Whitebeard? (E.g. Imagine Crocodile with a quake fruit. Alabasta didn't like the drought? Try being split into twenty pieces instead?)

Would make a good plot arc actually. "Race for the Quake Quake no mi"

Sorry but that's not how it is supposed to be. Imagination is limitless, especially in this manga, where characters can turn to lava, springs or mystical animals. Where misterious monsters roam around the oceans, where you can sail through the skies, where One Piece is being is sought after by thousands of pirates and no one seems to know what it actually is.

You can rationalize your argument as much as you want but it doesn't change the fact that Sunny is already a hax ship. Giving it a DF ability on top of all of it's capabilities would be too much. An overkill. Hell, why not just have Franky build in death rays and photon cannons just in case a devil fruit doesn't become an overkill enough.

I also have serious doubts whether a devil fruit can actually be applied to such a large object. So far, we've seen only smaller items, like a sword and a gun.

What the pacifista imitates is only the ability of using lasers like Kizaru does, nothing really special IMO... If he can imitate something like Buggy's ability, then we can safely say that he can imitate DF abilities...

Laser exist in reality anyway, it's not really something that special...
