One Piece Mega Convo Thread, the 2nd Chapter

Why else would they have such a position? Why else would they have such lances/swords? Seems pretty obvious to look like a beheading to me. What kind of stabbing would a execution be? Pretty f*cking lame. One Piece is placed in a kinda medieval world, so a decapitation isn't that unlikely is it?

Or just reread chapter 99 to see what a execution in One Piece looks like!

In the anime version Roger was piereced through. I believe vegabond 87 was refferting to that. However in the manga, he was most likely decapitated.

How was Shanks so fast? How could he make it from the fight with Kaidou to the Marine HQ in just 1 day? Even the marines were wondering about this, when he and his crew appeared.

Are there any theories to that? I am pretty clueless.

I believe their fight was postponed or it ended in draw. Anyway, we don't rly know the exact distance between MHQ and fighting location.

Tbh I don't think it is a very mysterious (important) question which needs answer from Oda. I haven't even give any thoughts on that.

Well if Shanks's ship is really a Viking themed ship then that could explain how quickly he got to Marine HQ. Without going too far into historical detail and trying to exactly match the ships together peace for peace. Viking ships, even though they traditionally resembled boats a lot more then ships, were known as some of the best ships around when it came to navigating through rough seas and being able to take paths that other ships simply couldn't. Which could all equate to the ships possessing pretty good overall speed and maneuverability. And if Shanks's ship was designed off of the Viking ship/boat concept then this could explain at least something when it comes to answering how quickly he got to Marine HQ.

I think that there is someone in Shanks' crew that has some sort of ability to make them sail faster. Either that, or they have a fishman who could call some giant fish to carry them faster (similarly to Jimbei with the whale-sharks). Just regular sailing would be too boring.

Well Oda is nuts about Vikings, so probably just drew the most badass ship he could think of.. Best-looking ship in One Piece I think. Especially now Whitebeard's ship's gone down.
Shanks might just know more about sailing/ currents etc than most other people alive. His ambitions were to sail round the world while having as much fun as possible after all.. Also the Kaidou thing might have been a story put out to make the marines think Shanks was out of the picture. After all anyone who kicked the crap out of Gecko Moria can't be all bad..

Also very similar to Jinbei's clothes, but not identical, so that's probably just random. But it was one of the first things that went through my head when Jinbei turned up..

I think that the place where Shanks and Kaidou fought was 2 or 3 days from the Marineford.
And I think than that was not really a fight, I think than that was just as WB and Shanks fight, only a clash of swords.

I don't think so.
Kaidou was trying to attack WB so that he can take out some tough guys in WB crew. i.e. Weaken the WB crew. So shanks stops Kaidou attacking WB crew. After some time Kaidou withdraw fighting because shanks is no more his target.

It's very obvious that the marine ship belongs to Drake!

Is it really because of the Log Poses that you MUST start from Reverse Mountain ?
I mean, New World probably has places where you can buy new Log Poses to continue the journey ?

Perhaps because its freaking dangerous in the New World. He would risk his life going straight there, I guess. Perhaps he just wanted to prepare himself and his crew properly. Or perhaps he is still trying to build up a bigger crew, like luffy was/is.

There could be a tonne of reasons. Examples:

• He only recently acquired a marine battleship
• He was an ex-marine, so even if he was born in North Blue, he may have turned pirate somewhere else
• He's a dreamer also, and believes conquering the grand line isn't something you do by just entering halfway.

It's also probably very possible that a log-pose will only work if calibrated from the start of the grand line, and can't just be done halfway.

Drake's marine ship looks heavily modified in my eyes anyway.

I find Capone's ship to be extremely ugly lol. The castle-look is so hideous hahaha.

But that leaves me thinking... If he has a submarine... He wouldn't need coating... So why did he stay in Sabaody Archipelago so long ?
The log pose already pointed down to Merman Island in Nami's case, right ? So there's no need to stay in SA for very long.
