How did Jinbe defeated Who's who? Initially JInbe's haki was of no use against the fang pistol Who;s who threw at him. All of a sudden in the last pages of the chapter, Jinbe became unbreakable and then defeated him. So what happened in the last moments?

Also now that we have the Luffy may secretly be some destined character, as per 1043, unconfirmed. Can we all just acknowledge that Sanji awakened his Genes vs Queen. And prior to that the Germa Kingdm had him as a normal human. And Oda showed Sanji as a normal human. So he built up this strength all on his own. The idea that Oda basically said Sanji did not develop like the rest of them and people keep saying otherwise, pretty much also helps me understand why people would assume I'm real life entitled even though I worked hard for where I got to so far in life (minus the sabotage I've been living these years). Anything to discredit.
And I'm not saying this is happening on this thread but I just came across it so it was like people are really just missing that who thing now.

But waiting for the Germa rescue arc when they find out Sanji is just like them now, even stronger and follows his own free will lol.

Just took it as jinbei getting more serious and jinbei was only disadvantaged cause of the numbers but he never seemed uncomfortable in the fight or worried or desperate

I'd add that rather than just getting more serious, Jinbe got more pissed off. It was exactly when Who's Who started talking about fishmen being slaves and other sensitive topics regarding his race that Jinbe's demeanor changed and his haki hardened further.

I think the chaos back then was Naruto, OP didnt get the same amount of love or attention, in the forums..

But i do remm the discussions, people still said its OP, noone dies so Ace must be alive.

So here the thing. Skypiea was undoubtly the BEST reading exp I ever have of reading One Piece. And the arc that I truly fell in love with the series. So I read One Piece from chapter 1 to Whiskey Peak-ish. And didn't pick up One Piece again until 2003 shonen jump, which was so so so so behind. And then finally caught up with weekly 2005-2006. Skypiea was the saga that I have read continuously in one sitting from beginning to end, in one goes. And it was a blast. When you able to read it without interruption. Without weeks in between to be influenced by others' opinions (whether it is overhyping or negative opinions) or theories. You just read. The twist that blew my mind was Montblanc's funny house. That half of his house was on Skypiea. That seriously blew my mind at the time. Because it is really fitting to him and his rumor of a liar descendant to make his house bigger than what it actually is. Or how to get to the Sky Island was pretty fun. And boy, Enel's game was chaotically exciting. Where every factions fight each others. Then Enel appeared. And that guys basically destroyed one elite after another. He had shown to be an unstoppable force. And to this day, Nami's one of her best moment was able to stall Enel, after fighting her own fear. And that big rubber plot twist.

And I think back of how much people shitting on Skypiea so so so so so so so so so so so much until the Wano arc renaissance reimagining that hey they like it all along. I thinking back of how much my reading exp would completely ruined by the fandom had I have to endure the weekly grind like these current arc. Water 7-Enies Lobby was exciting in a different way, reading week to week. But by far, Skypiea is where the series had my heart. And even week to week. Sabaody and Impel Down was the best week to week read.

My point is this. If you read something like a book. Unless you have some weird time constraint like an hour before bed or something. The author using their writing skill kinda showed you what they need to show you. Like the dread that Oda build up with Enel. Only to shatter with Luffy in the most WTF ever. Or let say he make a mistake. You don't have time to delve on it, because you read the next thing with more intrigues or other things that keep your mind occupied. Like a roller coaster ride. Where you can't nitpick. Because the whole ride is the exp, not who sat behind you, or what the color of the floor beneath your seat. Or inconsistencies that you may feel, due to Oda either withhold info. And or he plan to reveal it at opportune time. You don't have the time, to ponder all of that. Because you keep on reading.

I see this a lot going through manga that was upload on the internet that have a comment section beneath it. I remember reading Kingdom. And this smart mouth user who thought he found like an inconsistency (and remember all these chapters are out ages ago. So he just catching up). So he posted a smart mouth comments. Only for his issue to be address literally one chapter latter. Had he just press next, he wouldn't had leave that opinion in the first place.

So that what happened with Gear 4. People saw part of it. They don't know if it has more forms. They don't know the inspiration. They don't know the drawback and the mechanics. All of which revealed as the story played out.

So in flooded the opinions. Gear 4 too strong. It makes no logical sense unlike G2/G3. He looks weird, like a genetic malfunction. The body ratio is all off. You meant I have been waiting for years for this crap. What's a let down. Of course, there are also people like it also. But Gear 4 opinions were all over the place.

And especially true for people who been binging through one piece and catching up. Often the Arc that they caught up in, is the worst arc for them. Too long, the pacing is off. And yet if that arc they was part of the binging, was maybe the best arc ever. Dressrosa and Whole Cake Island came to mind. If you are a newer reader of One Piece who binge through those 2 arcs. They are the best ever. And Wano is the worst. But if they caught up in Dressrosa, it was the worst. If they had caught up in Whole Cake Island, that was the worst.

Interesting write-up. Personally I've always loved Skypeia, never got the flaccid hate I've constantly seen it get over the years. I caught up *after* Dressrosa so I didn't have to wait week to week through that, and it's still one of my least favorite arcs by far. I guess I just got lucky with my timing, because Zou was one of the best possible times to hop on board. My first big WHAM moment since catching up to everyone else was "Raizo is safe!!" which absolutely blew my mind.

It's subjective of course, but much like Skypeia I just can't fathom how Boundman got so much hate in the moment, even reading out your experience being in the community back then. People just have bad taste sometimes lol

The dislikes that the arc had is the same reason as why it is like now. It is more about how much connections that it has to the main storyline. People dislike it because they felt it removed from the main storyline. And now they like it, because they felt it has so much connectivity to the main storyline. Which meant nothing to do with what actually in the arc.

And I've never understood that. There was so much rich lore in that arc, I can't believe people were just like "yeah no none of this will be relevant, boooo 2/10 stars". Even before Wano, there was plenty of breadcrumbs dropped over the years that connected everything back to Skypeia. Also also, I think being a relatively self-contained story was a great strength for Skypeia, not some detriment. Oda managed to do both- compartmentalize a self-contained story but also use it as a major building block for the foundation of the lore for the rest of the series.

Forget the significance of the story, Skypiea island could feature a comic of its own with the world building so incredibly detailed. The dials were a phenomenal introduction, albeit i'm disappointed its not used to the full scale as expected.

I would've loved to see Usopp using dials mixed with pop greens in a better way.

Didn't he only use an impact dial once in the fight with Luffy? That seems like a huge waste, there's so many ways Ussop could've incorporated various dials into his normal fighting style. I've always thought there haven't been enough upgrades for the not-monster Strawhats that are just elements of the current arc. If they leave Wano without Franky getting his hands on a bunch of seastone for various purposes I'mma be disappointed.

I think Usopp still used some of the dial, especially his flame bird. Which he used against Caesar Clown.
The battle royale here is still more fun than Dressrosa tournament.

If you valued the "adventure" part of One Piece the most. Definitely Skypiea is top notch for this.
Albeit even Long Ring Long Land, which is way below One Piece average standard, had top notch humor.

People are already seriously theorizing Nami really being a Fishman (she's what's inside the big egg on Roger's ship, of course), and of course getting into serious tinfoil hat territory bc Zoro has both eyes open and a red sword. Lol.
