Looking back, I'm glad Oda made the more interesting decision with Yamato in having her be confronted with racism over being hated on as Kaido's child as opposed to getting more acceptance just for using Oden's name.

It's definitely more interesting than having Yamato repeatedly fail in defeating the Elders and being resigned to babysitting characters like the satellites at Egghead.

Still find it weird Oda had Luffy spend all that time with Kid as frenemies only to sacrifice him to show off Shanks making an attack.
It makes perfect sense to me. Kid and Law were created to help SHs beat Yonko Kaido and Big Mom. Now that they have served their purpose, Oda quickly made them out of the PK race so that we can focus on fair 1 vs. 1 among the Yonko crew. Oda also dropped Shanks and Buggy promising to go to Laugh Tale as independent pirate captains in Oden’s flashback so Buggy becoming a Yonko makes sense - I expect a 3 Yonko fights at Laugh Tale where Luffy will be recognized as PK by other Shanks/Buggy then big pirate party there. As for BB, he is either going down first in Elbaf (making Shanks the last Yonko to fall as Luffy said in Punk Hazard) or after PK Luffy leaves LT to take over the ancient weapons (making BB try to steal the One Piece and PK title). Then WG fight.

Seeing as how Caribou is close to telling Blackbeard about the weapons and is close to Wano, Luffy will prob fight him around there.

actually think Blackbeard might find One Piece before Luffy. Blackbeard is scheming something massive that will play a central role in the final part of this story. It is without a doubt going to be connected to everything AK.

Egghead will surely be ending this August after two years. Then we can finally move onto Elbaf and the Elbaf women.

I saw it suggested that the people who have the Will of D. are descendants of people who used to be allied with the First Twenty, but left them 800 years ago. Lili herself leaving them is an action that signifies her D. status. Contemporary ancestors of the Gol, Portgas, Monkey, Marshall, Jaguar, Trafalgar, Claíomh, and Rocks families might have sided with Lili in the past too, uniting over a desire for freedom. And it's prob this philosophy that they passed down to their descendants is what might explain why D. carriers emphasize on the themes of rebellion and freedom.

I guess you mean 900 years ago (and Clou rather than Claíomh unless Oda corrects Viz at some point), but more importantly, I was under the impression that the D people pre-existed the alliance of 20 nations. I guess we'll see when this is all properly spelled out in the story, but the impression I got was that Joyboy pissed off monarchs from the 20 nations individually, and the D people were probably the most loyal of the folks on his side (who must have been from each of those nations, like how Luffy makes friends as he travels the world). It seemed to me that Joyboy's considerable strength necessitated an alliance to stop him and his supporters, but the alliance was a response to whatever Joyboy did to offend them.

I just got the feeling it would make sense for Imu to have not only animosity towards Vivi, because she's a descendant of someone who rebelled against Nerona Imu and "deserted" Mary Geoise, but also all D. carriers because they're all descendants of "deserters". An animosity mellow enough to tolerate D. heroes like Garp, but also strong enough to kill Clover's brother.

Well that could still kind of be the case without an alliance having existed first. Just instead of an alliance, they'd have turned against some predecessor of the alliance like if they were members of deposed (and forgotten) royal families, or nobles who became deserters of false monarchs, if you want to see it that way.

Personally I'm leaning toward the idea the D stands for Dawn (among other things it might also represent at the same time). If so, they all have something to do with bringing a new dawn/liberating people, but they each might think of doing so in different ways (assuming they still embody what it is to be a D and haven't forgotten). For Clover, it could be freedom of information, for example. For Blackbeard, something like "freedom" for pirates, maybe. Others might represent other obscure ideas of freedom like different marines represent different forms of "justice." Luffy's idea of freedom is what most of us are rooting for.

Looks like Oda is setting up Koby as a direct challenger to Luffy's dream. It's interesting to me he decided to do this with Koby over Smoker. I guess Oda is just more fond of the underdog character. lol

Don't worry we've been down this road before. Koby's future is the same as his past -

I mean, Oda had Koby fist down an Emperor’s Titanic Captain and still challenge Luffy in spite of this.

We’re not in the era of two years ago. If Oda wants Koby to get more powered up enough to actually keep up with Luffy in a future chapter, then there’s nothing stopping him from doing so in his own manga.

In that case, he’s in a similar boat as Momo honestly.

What Titanic Captain did he fist down. Unless you mean the giant arm he hit and then passed out after. Unless you're impressed by Elizabello this isn't exactly anything when we're talking about facing off against a Yonko.

And yes he is similar to Momo. He has long term the potential to be a powerful fighter but within the timeframe of the story (assuming no timeskips) he will be a YC level fighter at best. And at that level of strength he will be no match for Luffy.

Koby has made this declaration many times and he has continued to grow, but is consistently behind Luffy. I think he'll make it to Admiral some day but even that's not a problem for Luffy now let alone whatever he achieves by the time he's at Joyboy's level.

To be fair to be Koby, I can see Oda calling back to this scene and having him manage to dodge Luffy's attack this time...

Only for him to be taken out by Luffy's follow through.

As mentioned above, Kody didn't take down Pizzaro. He injured him and while that's impressive for Koby's stature, keep in mind, Pizarro also took an attack to the face from Garp not 5 seconds prior to Koby's own attack. And he was still concious and prepared to counter. What Koby did was not enough to imply he is ready for the big leagues.

That being said, that technique did indeed put Koby on the path to catching up to Luffy. Whether or not he actually manages to do so by the EoS fights remains to be seen. I'm 50/50 on it. Also, personally, I'd rather see Smoker get his shine and show that he's closer to Luffy's level before Koby.

Definitely can see that happening. Even a respectable back & forth due to other factors like what happened with Bellami are not out of the question for me.

Nahh koby is nowhere near luffy and will never be...he'll always be chasing luffy's back that's his motivation we can't have him losing it

🤔 I think Oda sensei fodderized kidd and law just to highlight luffy and show he is a step above after wano and the matching bounties

Koby already beat the crap out of Pizzaro. Looking to see who he fights next.

I'm not saying it's guaranteed Koby will do so, I'm only saying Oda is free to power Koby up whenever he wants.

Oda is free to greatly power up people independently in spite of what we think.

That's the only point I'm trying to emphasize on here.
