I finished Punk Hazard and yeah, Caesar Clown is the worst. But I'm actually glad Oda through that piece of shit created his own "Fieza". Caesar is just horrible in every single way. Well anyway, it was really hilarious that Law started to doubt his own choices right after he made alliance with Luffy. It was even funnier when everyone started to warn him that Luffy dosen't exactly understand how alliances work. But honestly later on that kinda saved his life because if Luffy would do everything like usually pirat alliances goes Law would be already dead. Monet was also annoying. She behave like apex predator but honestly she was nothing THAT special. But her death was kinda funny because she could literally ruin Laws plan before it even started if she pushed that button. And yet she wasted her time for breathing exercises and imagining how fast everyone will die and how terrified they will be. Caesar was also shockingly naive for evildoer if he thought that Law really gave him Smokers heart. Honestly though back when everyone were in cage Law was kinda lucky because Caesar was about to squeeze that heart and he would notice that it's Monet who curled up in pain and not Smoker. I don't remember that very well but first time when I was watching I feel like I was really surprised when Luffy figured out on his own that to keep Caesar around safely they need sea stone shackles. Luffy still can be as dumb as rock but I guess even he have moments of genius showing up sometime. Also Vergo, well: he's honestly an idiot. Because who else would walk around with half of sandwich stuck to face and constantly forget or mistake various things? But now when I know that Oda purposely give characters that are "too cool" very ridiculous flaws it all makes sense.

At this point in the story, we didn't know Law was a D, I wouldn't say this hints much at him specifically, but the fact that Rayleigh said he got caught up in a storm, and Law jokes about Ds always attracting storms... I wonder if this is a hint that Rayleigh is also a D? Not that it would be a surprising revelation, but it would be quite interesting if that were the case.

I am also inclined to believe that important characters in the series who have 1 name or whose full name we don't know (e.g. Kidd, Shanks, Rayleigh, Buggy).... Oda is concealing this because they likely have important lineage either to being a D, a Celestial Dragon, or is related to a historically relevant pirate/figure.

I still think that Joyboy "made" his whole crew "D" and that's how it was passed down by familial relations. But Roger and Luffy specifically also have whatever quality that is that can bestow the "D" name, so functionally Roger's whole crew is "D". I like to believe this was also related to the storm that magically showed up and saved Roger's ass from Shiki that one time, and the storm that saved Luffy from Buggy at Loguetown.

I don't think the "Sa D Bo" gag scene was just a gag, I think that was deliberate foreshadowing (and I hate claiming that in stories like this, but I make an exception for this one)

Looks like we’re getting into Luffy finally losing so we can finally start rounding people up from the Elbaf mural.

It's still slightly too early to cross Luffy out completly. He may NOT win but I'm quite sure he still have little bit of fight in him and he may sell Imu at least one or two good hits before Imu will hit the limit and will have to scram. Espesially now after Luffy got scolded and seen Gaban with cut off arm. I wouldn't be surprised if it even gave him some "war flashback" about how Shanks lost his arm for him.

Btw, it's bit too early for that but how much do you guys think Luffys bounty will jump after Elbaf? Because I wouldn't be surprised if it jumped up to 4 bilion beries or mayby even little higher.

I'm almost half way through Dressrosa and man, I forgot how much I love this arc. With my new found knowledge from 2 newest arcs it feels like it's demo ver of final war. You know, cuz Doffy is like Imu and control everything partly from the shadows and is actually source of every misfortune in the country. Have subordinate who can turn someone into perfect slave that won't run away, noone will come searching for them and basicaly dosen't have any free will. And have many other plenty sadistic and powerful people for disposition. Also I really love backstories of all characters. Kyros was for example was really rough kid but grew up to be one of most adorable dads in One Piece and most importantly most badass and honorable warrior. Though now when I'm older I feel like age gap between him and Scarlet was bit problematic but honestly in universe it couldn't be very big deal if Shuri was receiving marriage proposals at 14 years old and I bet they were from much older mans. Hmm, it may be also like royal family thing because sons can become kings but dauthers are usually used for tying bonds between diffrent kingdoms so they are married off early. But since Riku was one of those rare unrotten kings he probably just wanted to let Scarlet be happy with man she loved all while living ordinary life and fact that Kyros was 10 older than her was just detail.
Anyway, honestly I feel like almost all of Doflamingo subordinates are stupid or weirdos. Like damn, back when Trebol smashed that one ship through the roof of command tower if Sugar was just bit more sensitive he would fucked up Doffys plans by scaring her to half death all by himself. Seriously, is his brain made of slime too?
Oh and how come Viola had df powers as child? I thought this things happen mainly outside of Grand Line where people basicaly think devil fruits are myths. Did Riku or his wife found that glare glare fruit and gave it to Viola with intention of giving her power that would allow her to predict dangers to the kingdom?

Luffy doesn't outright lose, and he is highly unlikely to lose here.

There is too much at stake. The consequences of losing:
  • Elbaph will be destroyed.
  • The giants will all be slaves and become a part of Imu's army.
  • The SHs would all be have to be slaves or killed - there's no way to escape.
  • Robin will be captured - which is something that cannot happen at any costs because she's easily the most important character in the series.
This is pretty much the story ending.

The most that could happen is Luffy loses the fight, but Imu has to leave because his time is up - it is essentially a SH victory because Imu couldn't achieve his goal here and further more, he would have had 2 of his Holy Knights defeated which would be a huge blow to the World Government.

Hajrudin will possibly make an appearance, he is a part of the SHGF that is meant to make history, he is an important character outside of Loki, the son of Harald, Oda narratively has to make him relevant and there's probably not a better stage to do this than now - he is also likely to be the King of Elbaph the way things are now.
Chances are Hajrudin will make an appearance, and Luffy will still show he can stand up to Imu somewhat, maybe make him bleed or show off a greater level of strength briefly to truly make Imu scared. But Luffy outright losing? No.
It's like thinking because Luffy got captured in Wano, that he was defeated. Luffy's defeats are always a build-up to the enemy's defeat.

Luffy outright losing is wishful thinking often times that serves no progressive narrative purpose other than just wanting Luffy to lose because.

Devil fruits are rare, and Dressrosa is is in the Grand Line too, but even then, Devil fruits are rare to the majority of people both in and out of the Grand Line.
Brook didn't even believe what he saw until he learned that Devil fruits exist, so for his first 40 years alive, he never knew they existed - he thought the things he witnessed was simply a nightmare at first and thought that Princess Shuri became evil after she killed his benefactor - King Reuven.

The only reason we see Devil fruits every chapter is because the Grand Line seas is full of the strongest people in the world - these people will have Devil fruits & will have Haki which 99% of the world don't even know exists - these Pirates we meet are not ever seen by most people, they're exceptional people.
Usopp as much as a coward he seems, and as weak as he looks - Usopp is strong enough to use a slingshot to shoot ammo that hits harder and goes further than bullets from a gun - Usopp is actually a superhuman, but because he's a monster surrounded by other monsters, he looks like a normal human - he's just in a place where the freakiest most powerful 0.1% of people happen to gather, so to us readers, things that are supposedly rare don't look rare.

I'd imagine Viola found it, thought it was a normal fruit and ate it. I don't see why any responsible family (which the Riku family are) would purposefully give a child a devil fruit.

Well yeah but I thought that since it's Grand Line people have at least little bit more knowledge about their existance. You know, because users show up all around there. Also I get that child from poor family could eat random weird looking fruit out of hunger but Viola was royal and deffinetly didn't have to worry about food. Hmm, mayby she just found weird fruit and ate it out of curiosity?

Most likely curiosity.
Luffy ate the fruit thinking it was going to taste good, people see fruits on trees and just eat them, you don't really need to be hungry - as you suggested, curiosity is most likely the case here. More so as a kid, if you see something that looks sweet and edible, it wouldn't be out of character to just try to taste the fruit, and it only really takes a bite for a Devil fruit ability to manifest.

Man, I forgot how weird was Frankys fight against Senior Pink. Like seriously: he shoo him away by telling him there's old lady in trouble, went into factory, encountered manageress, "hugged" her, used as shield against Pinks headbutt and then even went for a kiss to stop her from yapping. And all this weirdness in one episode. Boy, this poor girl was smitten soo hard that even her make up went from edgy evil purple to cutesy girly pink and she almost started to plan their life together. Literally only time when Franky did something "romantic", even if just to shut up his opponent. Because you know, usually he isn't interested in womans at all. Hmm, well that's probably why S-snake had trouble with turning him into stone. It worked in the end but not nearly as fast as it would work in someone else case. Also I kinda see how Tontattas could be romantically interested in humans. One of those Tontatta girls even called Franky manly so in certain situations they clearly can appreciate human mans/womans. Though knowing that most if not all Big Moms husbands were kidnapped by her I don't want to even think about how it went for dad of her half Tontatta dauther. 😱

Ok, since break week is boring and there's nothing to talk about I have question.

How do you think Loki would react upon meeting Blackbeard? He have basicaly the same face but honestly from what we know about Xebec they are vastly diffrent. But do you think Loki would follow him just because he's Xebecs son or he would be like "I wanted to follow Xebec, not his brat." and completly reject any deal Blackbeard could have for him?

Interesting idea.

Rocks was an evil man, but he had principles, despite being evil, he did have honor.
The reason Loki wanted to follow Rocks was because of this:
  • Rocks was a powerful pirate that wanted to destroy the world, and he was always seen to be laughing.
  • According to Elbaph's lore/mythos, some believe Nika is a laughing warrior who will destroy the world.
Loki wanted to follow Rocks because he thought he was Nika which is mentioned in Chapter 1166. This is why Loki when he was younger as mischievous - he'd set things on fire, pull pranks, hurt people, etc. This was what he thought Nika behaved, so he was literally trying to be Nika just like Yamato believes she/he is Oden.
Now that he has met Luffy, I don't think there is a high chance that Loki would ever follow Blackbeard. He probably will see him as Nika, I'm actually curious to see if Loki would recognise Luffy as Nika the Sun God, I think Elbaph will, but I wonder if Loki will explicitly acknowledge Luffy - but I guess that depends on how well he is able to fend off Imu.

However, there are several instances where I can see Blackbeard recruiting Loki:
As you say, Loki did look up to Rocks, so it wouldn't be a farfetched reason to join Blackbeard.
And Loki is hot-headed, if everyone else didn't want to go to Mariejoa to fight Imu immediately after this, and Blackbeard was offering to go to Imu directly? Then that is another way.

In general, I don't see it happening, Loki is too important to the SH crew to be allied with Blackbeard. Loki has access to the Galley La which is an army definitely needed to take down the WG. He also is an important part of protecting Elbaph - with him there, Imu wouldn't want to recklessly challenge Elbaph as it will be risky and he'd lose some of his God Knights.
And I see him as important as he is the son of Harald and brother to Hajrudin, I think both will play a huge role in leading Elbaph - Hajrudin could be the king of Elbaph and Loki would be the head of Elbaph's military.

Unrelated, but I am betting that Blackbeard will be making a deal with the WG, Imu needs military power, he is bound to fail here, so Imu must be desperate for power - more so now that the Shichibukai system is gone and the are either an Emperor crew now or allied with the SHs.

I feel like there's a good chance that Loki could see BB as a second chance at his childhood dream but then be utterly disappointed. Xebec had a vibe/charisma which BB doesn't exactly have. Also loki is different now, he has a duty to live up to (even if he does it in his own way).

Yeah, I think so too. Blackbeard isn't nearly as impressive as his father was and just face wouldn't make current Loki to drop everything and follow him. Plus it's very likely that before end of this arc Luffy will do something that will seal his alliance with Loki and thus Blackbeard won't stand a chance to get him on his side.

Hmm, I'd hesitate to say BB isn't impressive. BB does have a lot in common with xebec in some ways. BB lacks xebec's charisma but he does have at least a way to draw to him his crewmembers. The first half seems genuinely loyal to him while the second half of his crew is there because it suits them (though I could be mistaken about the first half). Xebec did make some friends along the way (notably WB) but it seems like his relationship to the rest of his crew is not disimilar to how BB build at least most of his crew around mutual self interest. On the power scaling side of things BB does appear to be genuinely at the yonko level considering rayleigh admitted he probably wouldn't win against him (of course, rayleigh is old and past his prime).

Loki strikes me as being similar to kid or law... Someone who is bound to be luffy's friend but probably too unruly to ever be part of someone's crew. I've been thinking about this more and given how things are essentially falling into place for the final war I'd be surprised if loki even has the time to seek out BB. It'd make more sense if their meeting is coincidental or BB seeks him out. Tentatively loki has a lot to do going forward. Take a leading position in elbaf, free the galleyra giants, go to war with the world government... It makes more sense that he'd meet BB on the way to any of these.

I mean no one was loyal to Rocks not even someone like Whitebeard. While Blackbeard original 4 members are loyal to him. But Loki won't join Blackbeard because he's a true villain. Unlike Loki who's obviously a good guy deep down.

Yep, and a captain who can’t keep his crew in proper order is destined to be a loser.

Oh you mean that Xebec couldn't do that. Well I guess that's right. After all most of his crew mates were "trophies" he won through Devy Back Fights and didn't ACTUALLY wanted to sail and risk their life for him. We could deffinetly see this in God Valley where everyone beside Whitebeard scattered to save their own skin right after things got heated up. Not to mention that one of Xebecs crew mates (I forgot his name) sold "treasure of Hachinosu" to World Government right under his nose. If Blackbeard have at very least similar thing going on in his own crew then he'll be equaly as fucked as his father. Sure, they seem loyal to him but I feel like only as long as it benefits them and they will leave him in the dust as soon as it stop. Loki was hurt way too many times to blindly follow some guy just because he look similar to his idol. You need to work hard for his trust and respect and I really love it about him.

And is why Luffy has earned his way to being the winner, since he actually keeps around a crew that’s willing to trust and work with him no matter what, and thus is far less likely to have his crew fall apart.
