Jesus Burgess si going to get the Mera Mera fruit. THe Blackbeards and the Strawhats will duke it out in the end. The will be perfect matches for each other. Sanji is damn bear a fruit user with all his fire based attacks and Burgess will be the perfect opponent

Luffy vs Blackbeard
Zoro vs Shiliew(the blackbeards will take out the Whitebeards, thus killing Jozu and Shiliew getting his fruit
Sanji vs Flame fist Burgess
Robin vs the San Juan (Robin can make huge hands and feet thus she is a perfect match
Usopp vs Van Auger(both snipers and I have a strange feeling they will get Vander Dekkens ability)
Nami vs Caterina Devon(Nami is matched up with a girl)
Brook vs Doc Q( Both guys epithet and their abilities sort of revolve around death, So the 2 dead mean duke it out
Frankie vs Pizarro(Seems like a good match up
Chopper vs Stronger(I definitely think Stronger is going to get a DF)
Jinbe vs Vasco shot(Fishman Karate vs Drunking Fist.......Possibly
The new Strawhat vs Lafite(Lafite will get Marco's Phoenix ability)

700 or 800 is not the issue. My point is that One Piece length has become a weakness for possible new readers who don't want to invest themselves in 70 volumes series and god knows how many more.
I know "everyone is entitled to his/her opinion" but you really shouldn't make such a big deal about other people probably not wanting to invest themselves into long-term series. Oda is about to sell 300 million tankobon copies, and nothing is pointing towards One Piece's popularity going downhill ... There's plenty that do as the early tankobon are still reprinted and sold. Even the expensive German versions.

You're putting your opinion over the general positive mood towards the current chapters here on MH, the Jump ToC votes, and the official selling numbers.

I myself don't want to start some long series and I read a lot of mangas.
Then don't do it. No one is forced to begin or continue reading One Piece - or any other of the "lot of mangas" you read. It's your decision as others may think and choose differently.

World building shall not take more importance than Luffy story itself and that is what happening with this tournament.
All that world building is of importance because it builds around Luffy's story and adds the little spice that made One Piece unique and successful.

I could have lived with not knowing a kingdom with a King punch or all the otther block B guys which name I have already forgot.
How should have Oda then made clear what power Bartolomeo has? By that cheap Fishman Karate punch of Hack? Or revealing it out of a plothole in a possible clash against Luffy?

The reappearance of past characters is much more interesting in my opinion. In that sense, Norland being the dwarves hero was for me 100 time more interesting than all these 'world building' info.
So you want One Piece New World only to base and consists of all that was already shown in Eastblue and Paradise. Now that would be plain boring.

I find this kind of world building artificially extends a story that doesn't need it. I'm happy with discovering new islands which makes more in term of world building than all those cameo of characters.

And from the 3 manga with tournament that I read recently (Fairy Tail, One Piece, Nanatsu), One Piece is for me the weakest. Yes even Fairy Tail one despite being cliche after cliche was more interesting !

I agree to some extent. The only thing that keeps me from disliking this tournament is the possibility that Oda will make use of those characters later or that they'll gain some sort of revelance later on.
And I like some of the designs. Other than that, I feel a little bored, since this week's chapter for example didn't move the plot forward at all.

To be fair, look at Naruto. Naruto is without a doubt if you see the stats, one of the most successful mangas of all time.
It's not been a case where the plot was moved forward each and every week a chapter got released.

So on the few occasions the plot doesn't move quickly in One Piece I can't see why it's too much of a problem. I can't see other mangas hitting the 700+ Chapter mark and still having the plot remain at a constant pace.

I disagree with you, I think this week's chapter did move the plot a bit. At least, we have more people going down and are hopefully reaching the conclusion of the fight.

I find this kind of world building artificially extends a story that doesn't need it. I'm happy with discovering new islands which makes more in term of world building than all those cameo of characters.
!
The World Building is something that even Fairy Tail is going through right now if you are current with it, which it seems you are lol.
They're finally discussing other region's of the world where there should be a good number of guilds that can properly rival Fairy Tail, Treasure Hunter Guilds as oppose to Magicians etc.

So One Piece is just portraying how wild the New World is with this Colosseum arc. Considering there were 40+ Captains helping WB, there should be 100s of strong New World characters so its harmless that Oda is just spending a few chapters just having fun depicting his large world.

I can relate that you find it boring, but I'd say the story does sorta need a part of the story where the various strong people of New World are shown and just how the level of the average pirate really is just way above Paradise.

Of course, us readers already know this but its nice to have it shown to us. Oda knows full well that anybody who reaches the timeskip is extremely UNlikely to not see his manga through to the end lol.

What do I care about Naruto when reading One Piece?
Re-read my post.
You don't have to care about Naruto. Hope I didn't hit a nerve there sir.

I'm comparing One Piece to Naruto, and I could have done so with any other popular manga to make the point that its impossible for a manga to have a constant pace especially once it reaches the 700+ Chapters stage.
Please don't tell me you're against comparing manga's on a Manga Forum btw.

Which isn't actually a "point" while discussing on a chapter which anyone of us read without spending anything, right? If one wants to start reading, he can still stop doing it and refund his volumes. There's always fans out there looking for acceptable used volumes for a fair price.

I find this kind of world building artificially extends a story that doesn't need it. I'm happy with discovering new islands which makes more in term of world building than all those cameo of characters.

I don't believe you. Where have you been in the FT's chapters discussions when actually everyone reading other manga than FT was bashing Mashima? Oda spent like five chapters for the tournament battles - you're making a fuss for nothing because the story does not move the way you want.

since this week's chapter for example didn't move the plot forward at all.
I was told in the Bleach forums that chapters can't always move the plot forward to great extent. Sorry, we all have to deal with that as it seems. One Piece fans also sometimes.

That could've happened off-panel, though. Didn't need to see it.

I respect your opinion and i think nobody has the right to criticize your and your friends´opiinion but a problem arises when you make an universal claim based on the opinion you and your friends have, i fear some of them even formed before reading it, and the thing is, the numbers simply prove you wrong. One Piece has managed to introduce a large amount of new readers to the manga since the Marineford arc, both due the anime and the manga itself and, based on the current number of sales and prints per volume, these readers did not drop it. You could argue that it could maybe attract an even bigger number of new readers but that is something both of us can neither prove nor disprove, so in the end, it is a subjective feeling and thought you and your friends have. I, for one, have introduced One Piece to 5 people last year and none of them had any problems to be invested in a manga that long.

And btw, it is quite ironic, no offense, that you praise the reappearance of Noland in your last post, considering that the first appearance of Noland, namely the flashback right before Luffy´s final encounter with Enel, did anything else but further the plot but was completely motivated by OP´s themes and world-building.
I don´t know if you have read that arc and have been in a forum when it was first published but the reaction to that flashback was highly controversial, to say the least. Every third post in a forum threatened to stop reading One Piece because it was dragging and showing something totally unnecessary to the current plot. In retrospect, Skypiea and the flashback of Noland are one of the most celebrated in One Piece.

It's just that I don't see why Oda should be allowed to 'waste' a chapter (It wasn't that bad, as you said, we get a taste of the new world and all, but there was not plot progression and next week we're getting a break. Not really something that makes me want to party...) only because other mangaka do the same. Yes, it's a long manga, but that's why he should keep it a little shorter all the more. One Piece isn't going to be short, so why make it even longer with chapters that don't get us anywhere.
Also, you can't compare many manga to One Piece. It's going to be longer than most of them. Much longer. No point in comparing their pace.

Get Bleach out of here. Its pace is horrendous.

Right, just how I cried when we missed most of Block A. Also, do me a favor and don't throw the word troll around loosely.

I consider one line posts containing nothing but a try to brush off others with an unreasoned statement to be trolling. Report me if you please, I won't go off that opinion, nor will I hesitate to use the request to stop the trolling if I feel one does so.

What you consider wasting, is considered to be interested storytelling and world building - and while talking about One Piece, it's just complaining for the sake of it. If one doesn't like that world building, how about reading a plain short summary of some wiki article instead of the actual chapter?

Sorry for trying to share my reading with my friends.

Don't reverse the role please, you are the one who wants me to like something I dislike. Where did I say you didn't have the right to like the chapter

Why do you always have to put money in your argument ? It's not about buying the volume but time to invest in a very long story especially when it won't be finished anytime soon.

So you want some islands without other characters to interact then? Or just like one or two? I may guess from your former posts that those should be then characters we already know for years?
Where did I say that I don't want new characters ? Hopefully the islands the Strawhats visit are inhabited and something happens there like on, let's see, ALL the islands where they have been so far.
You see, all those say that this makes world building. But where is the world building in a character that you see during 2 pages and then maybe not anymore ? Some say it makes you have an opinion of the New World people strength but most of these guys are one punched KO. Even Bartolomeo we didn't see any of his real strength, he just repelled everything... So yeah I'm more interested in the toys and the dwarves and the past story of Dressrosa, this will do more for me in term of building than those tournament chapters.
I don't believe you. Where have you been in the FT's chapters discussions when actually everyone reading other manga than FT was bashing Mashima? Oda spent like five chapters for the tournament battles - you're making a fuss for nothing because the story does not move the way you want.
Because when I read Fairy Tail I don't expect a great plot but his tournament was done in the right way. First it was not a subplot of many plots, the battles which needed to be short were short and the other ones were not too long and there was a good mix of new and old characters. Here it may just have been 5 chapters but it is chapters Oda failed to make me interested into.

I respect your opinion and i think nobody has the right to criticize your and your friends´opiinion but a problem arises when you make an universal claim based on the opinion you and your friends have, i fear some of them even formed before reading it, and the thing is, the numbers simply prove you wrong. Well I don't really worry for One Piece future sales. It's just that sometime I would like to see that the story progress toward its end. And I will only call it a masterpiece once it is finished.

And btw, it is quite ironic, no offense, that you praise the reappearance of Noland in your last post, considering that the first appearance of Noland, namely the flashback right before Luffy´s final encounter with Enel, did anything else but further the plot but was completely motivated by OP´s themes and world-building.

But Flashback are great in term of story and world building. You can't compare them with the fights of this tournament. They even have the same pace from the war which I didn't like already.

There was nothing more I needed to say in that reply. Furthermore, it was a question. I did not understand what role Naruto played in this whole thing. Or am I wrong? Sorry, feel free to report my 'troll' post.

Honestly, would you care if Oda introduced you to a rock with a smiley drawn on it with only a page of screentime? Well, maybe. But I wouldn't. Nor do I care for the characters that get owned in a single page.

It's as fast as nearly never before.

Err, I don't want to get into detail there, but if that's your opinion and you're fine with Bleach's pace, ok.

Yeah, now tell me how much of Luffy we saw in this chapter.
But the action part is good.
Hm, I guess.

I'm glad you've got a quotation on waste there.
Sure, it was slower than the last few chapters we've had but any manga that has gone for like 400+ Chapters needs to slow down its pacing for a specific reason if you've read Bakuman (I'm not referencing another manga for no reason here), you'd know about how Authors will hold back chapter ideas for when they want to do their major battle section of the arc.

Oda's simply slowed things down a little because he has a target of a date and page amount for when we're gonna get a huge confrontation the Dressrosa Arc.
(The most logical explanation I can think of)

I honestly think the term waste is a bit strong.

Btw, if you were genuinely annoyed at why Oda is allowed to just slow down his pacing like that, its because he has joined the rank like other JUMP authors where he can do whatever the hell he wants with the pacing of his manga. For instance the guy who does HunterxHunter is at that level of respect in JUMP and he can say he's healthy enough to draw a chapter for the magazine in a month or two and JUMP will let him straight away.
Oda can go on hiatus for months and just pull a Togashi on us and JUMP wouldn't dare terminate his contract haha.
(Worst Case scenario I know)

And actually, you can pretty much compare any fairly long battle manga with another fairly long battle manga. 500+ and 400+ is pretty long. Not many in WeeklyShonenJump reach that length to be fair anyway.
You know full well that people have been comparing One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, Fairy Tail etc. for several years.
I wouldn't say "you can't compare them". Or rather, its difficult to say that after its been done for years.

I don't exactly understand what you're getting at. So he's dragging the story in order to make the climax of the arc better? Or maybe just tell me what in Bakuman you're referencing to. Don't remember it too well anymore.

Togashi is a bad example, because his release schedule disrespects his fans. And I don't want to say that about Oda. Oda is a maniac. He draws manga like crazy and squeezes in every idea his brain comes up with and that's great. His dedication is fantastic. However, like in this case, he sometimes needs to stop himself in order to allow some good pacing and give his fans more plot. Because when there world-building distracts from the plot, there's something wrong. I'm not saying it's easy. In a way, it's nice to see those fresh characters Oda has come up with, but when we don't get no plot and another break on top, it does leave you hanging with some dissapointment. At least that's how I felt. Oda is a genius, we all know that, but that also has his bad sides.
Also, I agree about the term being too strong, that's why I put it into quotations.

About comparing it to other manga. Yes, they have similiar length, but Naruto will soon end, Bleach as well. Fairy Tail maybe in some years. But OP will go on forever! At least 15 years. Think about how much time that is. And when I compare it that way (the pacing and filler stuff and all) OP is just way out there. It's about the future of the manga, that's why I can't really compare it with other series which are headed for a conclusion already.

You do see what I'm getting at, you guessed right. And it happened in Bakuman when Ashirogi Muto were competing with the dude who was cheating via an online secret forum, they prepared their climax parts of the arc and changed their pacing so that it would clash with each others.

Believe me I'm not putting Oda in Togashi's boat in terms of release schedules gosh no.
In the sense that they have reached the level of success where JUMP would beg them to return if they tried to quit, and Oda has the luxury option of taking 3-6 weeks rest if he has illnesses, and if a little more serious as long as he likes. Which is what Togashi seems to be doing since according to the Magazine records is still a serialized author with JUMP.

Oh I see what you mean now.
Naruto and Bleach yes I agree fully, but Fairy Tail has brought about a feeling of "everlasting" similar to OP recently. See how they mentioned there are various strong mages on other continents?
Meaning we have to meet other Dragon Slayers, more Stellar Spirit Mages and already we got shown stuff like TreasureHunters etc? FT is far from over.

But none of them have the feeling of "never ending" like OP of course I agree.
In that regard I can't think of another Weekly Battle manga past the 400+ Chapter stage that doesn't feel like we're riding into its penultimate or ultimate saga.
(With Naruto I do get the feeling that after Madara+Juubi loses in this very arc, Naruto VS Sasuke then BAM! end of story)
