I don't know if you know about it, but TheOnePiecePodCast group intervieved Sazaki Hisashi, former editor of the WSJ. The interview lasts 25 min and Hisashi talks of several interesting points and series and about the future of the Jump. He also talks in extent about the first period of Eichiiro Oda (when Hisashi was editor).

The interview starts in minute 13:35 of TheOnePiecePodCast 300th edition, and focuses on Oda at minute 28.

On Gol D. Roger's execution he was shown as a child.
And on the quite recent chapter Strong world, Shanks, buggy, crocodile and Doflamingo were also shown to be older than smoker. But in current Smoker looks older than everyone.
Im just curious.

In short, he was 34 when SH met him and he's 36 currently.
Maybe he looks older because of his hair colour and facial scars. There isn't that much difference in age between him, Shanks and Doflamingo.
