If you read long enough you would know that root of the anger she has for Jinbe is Luffy.
Nope, wrong.

The root of her anger is not Luffy.

Jimbei chose to leave of his own volitoin and the Manga already states she was going to likely aim her anger at Fishman Island as a result.

In fact, Jimbei said this before Luffy did anything to Big Mom, so you are indeed wrong.

You mentioning the sweets factory is what i called poor imagination. Lame prophecy is what i refer with to Shirleys prophecy, not to your factory idea.
That possibility is indeed a fact, even if its poor imagination.

Calling something lame is subjective, yes. I wasn't using it as a fact.
Wrong again, google the word subjective.

That possibility is indeed a fact, even if its poor imagination.
Something being a possibility makes it a possibility, it means it is within reason.

Poor imagination is inability to imagine things within reasons.

Something being possible is not the fault of imagination, it's the fault of the situation and the limitations therein.

So your statement there is actually not a sensible or logical one.

Well, your screenshot says it all. "It means nothing if you go", because it is not safe for them to go. They can go and have been going and it didnt end up well for them. They cant just go and try to get along. The reason she was collecting signatures is to show how many are willing to migrate to all those who attended Reverie at that time. It has to be approved at the Reverie or they have to be backed up and supported/protected by, lets say, a Pirate King Luffy.
Wrong again.

Going is risky even if the WG approve of their emigration.

The point of moving is so they can acquaint themselves with Humans and get along with them in time. They believe all humans are evil, Otohime is trying to convince them not all Humans are evil, thus the reason she wants them to emigrate as soon as possible. She even states if the humans are an obstacle in their attempt, they should find a way to prove to Humans that they can get along.

Like I said, your understanding of this arc is questionable.

For now, yes and thats my point. Luffy is going to be the immediate target. If anything, he is taking the bullseye away from FI and putting it on himself.
Even if Sun pirates interfere too much, they'll either die or turn into some homie. FI can even bribe themselves away by offerring more sweets.. Perhaps, that's going to be their penalty too. Luffy has done far too much damage... She will send some of her children to chase Luffy and some others to chase Bege and Germa...

If Mama will go after FI how will that affect the story? Even if it takes 3 days for them to get to FI, i am sure it takes much longer for teh strawhats to reach Wano... Give Wano arc itself 3 - 5 days and a week to get there, you are looking at 2 weeks of action. If Mama goes after FI right away, it will be destroyed before Wano..
The point is you're disregarding the fact that situation as escalated beyond Luffy challenging her, he's already challenged her. She didn't think he was going to do anything, she thought he'd come and she'd have him crushed.

The situation has changed, that is the point.

As Jimbei himself said, upsetting Big Mom would likely incur her anger and he said this before Luffy even did anything.

If Jimbei said this before Luffy even challenged Big Mom, then it's clearly a huge possibility, and more so with what has transpired.

As you pointed out, it potentially creates a scenario where Fishman Island is destroyed before Wano, thus, the reason I made the point early on in this arc that Big Mom requires defeat or anything that would help to stall.

With Jimbei being held back, that could be the solution, we have no idea how Oda intends to play things out. Nonetheless, that danger was always there factually, otherwise, Jimbei would never have said it.

They cant just go and try to get along.
Ironically, that is exactly what they intend to do once the emigrate.

o okay, I got that from your initial posts, but the replies to your post confused the potato out of me.

The Sun Pirates will die or turn into homies, but Big Mom will still go after Fishman Island since the pirates are associated with them. And it's been established that Luffy took the bullseye away from Fishman Island and made himself an even bigger target after this arc. I can't see her sending her children to go after Luffy when he took down Cracker and Katakuri, and when Urouge took down another commander. She can't risk any more losses.

Well, Luffy likely loses his allies, and if Shirahoshi is killed, then Poseidon is lost as well. If she's captured, then Luffy will have to rescue her at some point.

Luffy will remain a target, that much is certain.

The thing is Fishman Island is in danger for many more reasons than Luffy:
  1. Luffy has expressed desire to protect it - Big Mom has reason to target it specifically for that.
  2. Jimbei also expressed desire to protect it and more so since he attained her Jolly Roger for Fishman Island's protection - Big Mom has reason to target it.
  3. Jimbei is also the enemy now.
  4. The Fishmen for 3 hours or more actually controlled the sea currents to stop the Big Mom Pirates from advancing and also hid the sea-slugs.
It's an easy and effective target. Logically, if one truly wanted to hurt the Strawhats or strain the relationship of the SH crew and Fishmen, aim for Fishman Island. It's where family and friends reside and it's their most vulnerable point. Chasing after the SHs is pointless especially since they're heading to Wano.

Unless Oda can devise a way to realistically keep Big Mom away from the Island given her nature, there's no reason why she shouldn't exploit this weakness. Either some sort of deal is made with Jimbei, or she significantly increases the Sweet Quota they must supply.

Have to wait to see how Oda resolves this and I'm expecting this to be resolves because we know Fishman Island cannot be destroyed by none other than Luffy.

Wrong. She gave her life for the collection of signatures which were meant for the Reverie. It needs to be approved for them to emigrate to the surface, to have the backing of the 20 countries (or how many the WG consists of), otherwise they could have gone without approval, which they didnt. Danger is there even with approval, yes, but they would have the protection of the Marines like all others.
Your understanding of the arc is questionable as well. Queen Otohime's life work was the collection of signatures which represented the will of fishman race to live on the surface and that collective decision was supposed to be presented to the leaders of the countries which attend the Reverie.

I'm confused by this response. He stated his personal opinion/feelings, so how is that not subjective, according to the definition you posted?

Big Mom is an idiot though, and she's likely to have a tunnel vision in taking down Luffy before doing anything else. though it makes sense to go after Fishman Island, this is One Piece where honor matters more than apprehending criminals. Big Mom would likely go after Luffy, if nothing else, just to get revenge and reassure the world that she's extremely dangerous.

I forgot, but does Big Mom know they're headed to Wano? Probably does if she knows Kaidou's there or can assume Kaidou's there as she knows Luffy's going for Kaidou. And it's not pointless going after the Straw Hats when they plan on clashing with another Yonkou because Big Mom will likely think either side will take enough damage or be exhausted enough that she can jump in and wipe out the remaining forces, or jump in and be the one to kill Luffy herself.

She's not that unintelligent though, but I guess it's easy to get that impression of her after she's gone about 30+ chapters screaming wedding cake, lol.

Let's not forget what she planned to do with Sanji, she intended to hurt the closest and the most vulnerable things to him, Zeff and the Baratie. So she really does know how to twist one's arm and apply treasure.

Luffy and Jimbei do have Fishman Island in common, she knows that, so it should be an immediate target unless there's just reason for her to leave until Kaido.

Who would she send to Kaido's territory though? It's far too risky. If Katakuri can't take him down, there's surely no one else that can besides Big Mom herself.

If she really wants to hurt the SHs, she needs an easy target and that target is Fishman Island. BIg Mom isn't really honourable.

Nah, this was way before the wedding. At the least, the gist of her as a child was that she was an idiot.

However, she didn't want revenge against Sanji or to destroy him, she wanted him to attend the tea party and needed leverage to make him come. With Luffy, she just wants his destruction at her hands. It'd make more sense for Big Mom herself to go after Luffy (or assume Luffy's too damaged to fight properly and send her strongest fighters) as they go to Wano. They're not as prepared or fresh to fight her whereas if she lets them come to her, they'll have more people ready and be at full health. Plus, if they get to Wano before she gets to them, she can wait until either side is standing or Luffy is weak enough and then go in for the finish. Strategically, it makes more sense to chase after Luffy before the crew gets a chance to recover or regroup, and if she can't get him, then to wait for Kaidou and Luffy to weaken each other. Fishman Island isn't going anywhere, but it'd be harder to catch the Straw Hats as they'd be on the move.

She isn't, but again, this is One Piece. Kuma and Aokiji for no reason other than honor did not take on any other Straw Hat except for the one that they fought man-to-man, and beat. But then again, they also had other reasons whereas Big Mom is in no way an ally of any sort with the crew.

Well, I agree with 1, 2, 3 and 4... but are you assuming that the sun pirates escaped, or do you think Mama got them to stay back or killed them? If the sun pirates did escape, i see your point.
Lets assume they did escape. Then, as per your words, family and friends reside in FI and will be a vulnerable point and get attacked.

If they didnt escape, her revenge is done, her target is Luffy and she'll chase them and their loved ones to the ends of the world. Fishmen island is one of the many territories Luffy's been associated with. However, the crew's immediate families would be in grandline or east blue. They are more likely to be a target than Fishmen Island. FI is her territory after all, and a constant supplier of sweets.

Now coming tot he threat Luffy made in FI, claiming to make it his turf... I moreover see Luffy having to battle out Mama to gain access to Fishmen Island rather than Mama attacking her own island immediately. So, like i said before, Fishmen island will feature in an arc possibly after Wano and near its conclusion.

What, really? Why is he injured?
Well, just theorizing that he could be, since Jack did attack the ships that were carrying Doflamingo.

It hasn't worked for me. Some cool parts like Luffy using COA in Marinefold, of Zoro cutting Pica I had to see animated but overall, I don't bother watching it. I love OP but enjoy more reading it. Come here every week for spoilers since 2008 and can't wait for the new weekly release, but I don't know, I just don't find watching it as enjoyable.

The anime episodes have gotten really good... maybe they'll make the whole cake island arc leave a better taste....
This must be frustrating for Bege too...I am sure if the assassination would've gone through effectively, Bege would've been the center of the news... He did quite a lot in this arc too, surprising no one got their bounty increases... It almost feels like Sanji's bounty increase is only because of his last name.

Luffy becoming the 5th emperor is going to create a power struggle. While i still think the 5th emperor title is more interim or temporary till there will be 4, there is a chance that this will result in a complete shift in powers.. The world govt can actually gain significantly in this current scenarios.
The world should now be aware of Mama's weakness: Mother Caramel. We may see similar pirate attack attempts to increase on Mama's troops... With the knowledge of Mother Caramel, the marines or the WG may feel they have an upper edge on attacking them, specially since she worked with CP0. In addition, i think the kids in Punk Hazard were attempts to creating another Linlin like humans. This may trigger a need to take them down....

I am mentioning this because with the upcoming reverie, they may likely about abolishing the shichibukai system. That coupled with yonku powers will completely change the balance of powers allowing either the WG to get complete control or result in the Pirate King.

I mean by people he's come across, but more importantly, people who are aware of the deeds his done for their country or even leaders of countries. Dressrosa, not just the Royal family are fans of Luffy, the entire Kingdom of Dressrosa itself feel like they owe him and want to help him. We can say this about Dressrosa, Amazon Lily, Fishman Island, Water 7, Zou, Wano in the next arc to come, and his reputation will likely grow continue to gain more momentum from here.

Luffy would unlikely be in the same boat because he's befriended people with influence and been recognised as a Hero in countless countries. The people of Dressrosa (and those alike) would never believe that evil was this evil demon if the WG said so. Whitebeard made acquaintances with Fishman Island, Roger didn't; Roger was known by some individuals, but he was never recognised as a Hero as he never had the opportunity to do so which is why when the WG claimed him an evil monster, people were bound to believe it which carries on to why the world hated Ace so vehemently.

I'd imagine even WCI will eventually come to become fans of the SHs. Just imagine how people would feel if they know it was Sanji who made that Cake that saved the Country and more so if Big Mom becomes a lot more overbearing and hated?

I think the WG might even begin to appear more sinister to condition the the world's acceptance of Luffy and disdain towards the WG; plot convenience I guess.
Definitely, but what if Roger was in the same boat, popular in different islands and kingdoms, but the Government did a great job in making him look bad? Same can happen to Luffy, although it likely won't given the story plans on having him change the world and expose the evilness of the World Government. I mean, we do know that nearly everyone that interacted with Roger liked him, as they do with Luffy, while many others who don't like Roger believe the whole pirates being evil thing, and Luffy is a pirate. Roger could have been seen as a hero, but as time passed, he slowly became a villain to other people who didn't know what he did.

I wouldn't be surprised if they blamed Sanji and the Straw Hats though, as Luffy did destroy the cake and cause Big Mom to go batshit crazy in the first place

I don't think it's really possible for a Country to change their impressions of someone they already have an impression of with propaganda. No one in Fishman Island or Dressrosa or Zou would believe anything evil regarding Luffy.

All the places we know Roger's been to which Luffy has also been to, those places were never indebted to Roger nor did they speak of him as a Country, only individuals here and there seemed to know who he was and that was only Gan Fall and Garp besides his crew:
  1. Skypiea have been at war for about 400 years if I remember correctly, Roger was there, yet he didn't stop the civil war.
  2. Fishman Island befriended Whitebeard, Roger passed by them and seemingly never made their acquaintance.
In this instance and with his reputation as well as all the facts, it's more likely he never had the opportunities Luffy had to shine to get a good reputation. Nothing really hints at Roger ever being viewed as a hero which Garp himself says.

But what about areas that haven't met the Straw Hats or know anything about them but the fact that they're pirates? It's the same with Roger - has he been to Windmill Village, where Ace heard others attack Roger? I think there was one or two other places that labeled Roger as an evil person during the Marineford War, but has he been to those places, or did they know anything about Roger?

Well, doesn't look like many inhabitants would remember or know of Roger. Seems the ones that know are old whereas with Luffy, the story's taking place in present time. If 26+ years passed, then Luffy wouldn't be remembered as much by people in the country as he would by those who personally came across him.

1. Why didn't Roger stop the civil war? Did he try to? If so, what did he do? Was anyone else old enough to remember Roger?
2. Whitebeard put the Island under his protection mainly because of the violence that the pirates were committing. Was that really going on in Roger's time? And Whitebeard seemed to be quite old in the flashback, so did he put the Island under his protection after Roger's death, when the Island was crime-ridden? What if he did meet few of them, but they had no reason to remember him? Didn't the Sea Kings say or imply that Luffy reminded them of Roger?

It's possible that until the World Government's corruption/crimes get revealed, Luffy will be seen in the same light as Roger among people that have not met Luffy.

Because roger didnt have time for that because he will die because of his disease...

So making trrritories will be useless...if he dies...pirates hate him so they will attack his territories for revenge and those people will pay...

Roger was a case apart...his big problem was time...he only focused to reach raftel...even when they known the truth he didnt do anything...

By the way : one piece is on break this week??

Yes they have especially the latest one with Sanji vs Daifuku, they putting more emphasizes on what happened since Oda can't write out full fight scenes all the time due to his limited pages and need to progress the story in other chapters, so the anime help proves more that Sanji is capable of fighting Daifuku and shows that he isn't necessarily focus on defeating him and more worry for his family since they are about to be killed.

Sanji got the increase mostly due to that, but look at the manga/anime as both Morgan and Stussy are there and they are watching everyone combating especially Sanji vs Daifuku and let's not forget that later on they would listen over in communications with Tamago and Monte and then in a hot air balloon as they watch Sanji and Luffy escaping the island and Sanji again combating Daifuku. So it's an mixture of a lot of things that add to the bounties of Luffy and Sanji (Along with probably Bege and Jimbei getting a raise too) due to what they see and heard in the end.

We know that Roger killed Squardo's original crew. That does not make him evil, since that was a fight between pirates. But it is a huge distinction towards Luffy who never kills anyone.

Anyone is allowed to make new threads about new topics. Just make sure to search and check that there isn’t already a thread about what you want to discuss (to avoid duplicates) and it should be fine. :nod

I’m glad to hear the anime has gotten better again. I might need to pick it up (after years of strictly manga) if it is indeed as you guys say and we get lots of details which Oda can’t fit in the manga. Has the pace also gotten better in the last couple of arcs?

Don't think Roger went there, I think it's more a case of the perception people had of him because they didn't know anything besides him being Pirate and Pirates are written off as evil in general and more so with him being the most notorious.

Places that haven't met with the SHs may have 2 things to contend with when trying to come to an opinion regarded whether he's evil or not. There's the fact he's done so many good things and evidence of it. The Fishmen are taking up the SH Jolly Roger and they will likely comment on how helpful they've been despite being Pirates. Dressrosa and Prodence might also speak complimentary of him too as may Alabasta. They will have to take all this facts into account and determine if these are the doings of an evil individual.

Unlike Roger, there weren't people in high positions of power to speak on his behalf to give the world food for though regarding who Roger was, Luffy has that going for him.

Roger was known by few individuals, Luffy is known by Individuals who lead countries and and the populace. As seen in Dressrosa, the people willingly and of their own volition went out to help Luffy escape. No one can change their opinion of him after what he did for them, they're forever greatful.

Even Gan Fall 22 years after Roger's death remembers him as a good person because he met him, those who didn't hate him and therefore can only hate him because they will believe the Propaganda and more so being that he's a Pirate who never did anything to be recognised as heroic nor did they get to know him. For Luffy, it's the total opposite.

Roger didn't stop the civil war in Skypiea for a reason, there was no Enel putting the country in Jeopardy for the Skypieans and Shandians to fight and subsequently unite in order to defeat him. The only reason Luffy could stop the civil war in Skypiea was because when he went there, the Skypieans and Shandians had a common enemy. If these circumstances weren't present, there's no way for Luffy to have united both tribes together. It's not even that he wanted to, it's more like coincidence that things just turned out this way and this is the case in every arc where he's been able to win the hearts of countless countries. If Roger had all these coincidental circumstances where he could have helped, he'd also have had a huge following as Luffy currently does.

As for Roger not doing anything in Fishman Island, he clearly wasn't a friend of King Neptune and it's only really after the Pirate Age that Fishman Island became riddled with Pirates and that's where Whitebeard stepped in. Prior to Roger's death, it wasn't the age of piracy.

The Sea Kings only remember Roger because he heard their voice and he shouted back implying he could hear them which surprised them, but besides that, he didn't do anything in Fishman Island other than probably read the Poneglyph there.

Roger never had those opportunities to be heroic which would have cleaned up image/reputation, Luffy has that despite being a Pirate.

Luffy is already regarded as a hero and seen in a different light as Roger, all that's really needed is for his reputation to grow further. He's already surpassed Roger in that respect. Roger had to set things up the Will of D behind the scenes, Luffy will realise the Will of D in the open for all to see . Luffy has been gaining momentum regarding his reputation from the start of the series:
  1. Defeat Morgan which saved the village and liberated the Marine base.
  2. We have Cocoyashi village whom are indebted to Luffy for taking out Arlong and Nezumi the corrupt Pirate.
  3. There's Drum Kingdom who are indebted to him for Wapol's defeat and the return of their doctors which saved the Country.
  4. Alabasta is another case.
  5. Water 7.
  6. The 1000s of people saved at Thriller Bark.
  7. Fishman Island.
  8. Dressrosa.
  9. Wano soon.

I see, cool. Thanks for telling me!

Also yeah, the anime has been quite lit during WCI. I think because they have a new animation team and director at the helm on it to make the animation in the arc more impressive than the last ones (Not saying they last arcs were bad, but I can understand other's issues with the animation at times, but doesn't affect be that much really). You should catch up to OP to see what is up on it when you can.

Nvm. I think I am dumping my creation topic vibe for now. Was planning to do a discussion concerning Haoshoku Haki a.k.a. Conqueror's Haki discussion on what it mean to be born with it and who else do we think is possible to be born with it and why? Along with if it's possible to evolve that particular Haki more than it is as so far while it is the rarest of the Haki, it doesn't seem to have much impact to anyone unless they are fodder/NPC characters to knockout against so far. Ever since I saw Katakuri with his evolved Observation Haki to see into the future, I wanted to see if it's possible to evolve the other Haki traits to another lvl especially Conqueror's Haki to be more useful than just wipeout unimportant underling characters only.

I don't want to risk writing my whole stuff and for it to be deleted if it's too similar to another topic. Been there before with my stuff being deleted before after time spent on it, I don't want to relive it again.
