The fact they were wearing stitched clothing when Oden returned proves Kinemon did not have his Devil Fruit.

But Kinemon and the other do not seem to know Devil Fruits, so they must have thought it was just a regular fruit.

Quick question: Does the World Government know the location of Raftel and what he treasure is? I can't remember if it's ever been mentioned. If they don't know, why wouldn't it be a priority? If they do know, why wouldn't they just destroy the island?

The WG does not know where Laugh Tale is. They do not ask WG forces to look for it because they would need to learn/teach the ancient language which could spread the risk of language knowledge throughout the world. There is also the possibility that some people within the WG Laugh Tale task force betray each other, follow their own goals or switch sides as they learn the true history. They could also be captured and used by the Yonko to find Laugh Tale before WG. Additionally, there is no guarantee that One Piece can be destroyed as the Poneglyphs cannot be destroyed, so One Piece being guarded by WG could be lost as well in case of treason/invasion. The less risky strategy is to destroy the ancient language knowledge and make sure no one has access to it - the best way to keep it safe.

Also they would need to likely wage war with emperors in their territories (Big Mom and Kaido) to gain copies of Road Poneglyphs. As well as locate the others.

The Ancient History and the treasure have something to do with how the World Government was formed, and how the Tenryuubito gained so much power.

It's possible that the Tenryuubito ancestors told them to prevent anyone to finding out, and nobody currently in the World Government knows.

Another possibility is that Im alone knows - because of course he/she does - and nobody else need to.

If they destroy/sink the island whether one piece itself can be destroyed or not is irrelevant since it'd be at the bottom of the ocean in a secret location that only one crew has found in 800 years. If that isn't safe from the WG's perspective, then nothing is safe.

While someone in the government may know what the One Piece is, they may never been able to reach Laugh Tale.

Or maybe they already failed to destroy Laugh Tale 800 years ago.

Given the fact that the Roger pirates laughed when they got there I don't think it's going to be anything particularly grand tbh. Probably just a big rock with "Joy Boy was here" written on it or something. One of those the journey was the treasure(accomplishment) type of story. I guess the whole story about the Void Century will be there too.

I'm curious about what role Imu is going to play going forward in the story.

I mean, with the way Buster Calls are always described, I fail to see how if they know where Raftel was they couldn't destroy it.

The author already confirmed he is not pulling a trick like the Wizard of Oz, and there's a real reward at the end.

It's possible they can't get close to the island with a ship.

We haven't seen many characters capable of sinking an island, even among the strongest in the world. There's Whitebeard, and maybe Kizaru with that laser shower he used against Law's submrine.

I forgot in which thread we were talking about Oars and Oars Jr, but I'm rereading Marineford, and I realized I got my cables crossed. I thought Oars Jr was the zombie on Thriller Bark and not the giant that was Ace's friend and on the Whitebeard ship. My bad.

Roger was dead the year after Oden returned to Wano.

It's an isolated country, so no word of what was happening could get out. Couldn't Oden leave or send word to Whitebeard? He most definitely could but it's one of those things where I personally feel Oda had already come up with an ending and then had to work backwards, maybe. Because of Whitebeard had shown up at the time with his forces, Kaido wouldn't have stood a chance. But for the story to advance to where we are now, it demanded that there be no intervention.

Devil fruits get respawned elsewhere when the user dies (read Punk Hazard ch676, where Smiley dies there and you immediately see the fruit regenerate nearby)but we don't know the mechanics behind it nor where the fruits themselves originate from.
