Foreshadowing to what?

I mean this colourspread is from ch696, which is around Punk Hazard. The characters on this poster are all relevant since the beginning of the NW and the following arc or two. That's probably the extent I'd see the foreshadowing (at that time), I wouldn't say it has anything to do with Wano specifically.

  • Kid, Hawkins, Apoo- These guys were shown in ch677 as wanting to start a pirate alliance to topple one of the yonkou. Who was revealed to be Shanks (ch793?) towards the end of the Dressrosa arc.
  • Blackbeard was referenced during FI arc as having become a yonko, shown speaking to Luffy during Dressrosa and also Burgess about Kuzan, who also showed up during Punk Hazard to save Smoker from Doflamingo.
  • Big Mom was shown briefly in FI but then became revelant the following arc as she had sent for Sanji's retrieval and the crew therefore went to get him back but also gain a copy of her Red Poneglyph.
  • Sakazuki was involved that legendary fight with Kuzan and also shown during Dressrosa as having not being aware of the depth of WG's complicity in "removing" Doflamingo from the Shichibukai and later forcing Fujitora to chase down the SH before retunring to MHQ.
  • Jinbe was duty bound to Big Mom, which means he couldn't accept Luffy's offer to join his crew until he had severed ties with the former, which he did in WCI.
  • The SH formed an alliance with the Heart pirates and agreed to take Kinemon to Dressrosa to find Kanjuro, having not joined their alliance to take down Kaido at that point yet(?) or asked for their help.
The colourspread also works great in showing degrees of separation(if anything) between all these characters.

Oda is still showing events that were foreshadowed in east blue saga, so 696 isnt that ancient...

They were all relevant but most of them have already gotten involved in the current arc, so i am only theorizing the rest could show up as well... I dont think tis foreshadowing Wano specifically, but most likely the end of the arc,

Look at this image:

Almost everyone here is in Wano, except BB, Shanks, Aokiji, Mingo and Akainu.... once the arc ends, supernovas would be on TOP and the new age would have surely started, is this foreshadowing on Oda's part?
You call it foreshadowing, I call it a bloody spoiler

Along with this image:

Also it looks like Kaido is in hybrid form in the first picture

So... do you guys think luffy will show a new form or gear to fight kaido?

Luffy has gotten several upgrades recently. He showed several gear 4 forms, gained the most advanced form of observation haki we have seen to date and he also learned how to project his haki and even use it to cause internal damage to enemies. But honestly, I don't think this is enough for luffy to duke it out with kaido. So luffy will probably show or acquire even more upgrades now...

Overall I think we won't see gear 5. Oda in past arcs has shown that gear 4 has several variations so I think oda will simply focus on more gear 4 forms with different uses.

Something I am looking forward to is seeing luffy incorporate gear 3 into his gear 4 combat. Gear 4 is always surrounded by a gas of sorts which evidences gear 2 being incorporated there but gear 3 seems suspiciously absent. At least according to the wiki even the attack luffy used against doflamingo to win the fight was done via luffy further inflating his muscles rather than his bones... This could potentially make luffy into a proper giant.... I suppose a specific gear 4 which is meant to be used with inflated muscles is also a possibility.

I also think luffy will get a bonafide haki cannon. With gear 4's king kong gun luffy basically retracts his arm into itself and uses his elasticity to vastly increase his firepower. And recently he learned how to project his haki. I think luffy can combine the two techniques to shoot haki like a cannonball at enemies.

Also... perhaps monkeyman? Out of luffy's gear 4 variants they all seem to have a different focus. Bounman focuses on luffy's arms for the most part and snakeman focuses on creating what seems like an agile body meant for speed. Perhaps luffy has in store something like a "base" gear 4 which inflates his muscles but in a more proportionate manner than either gear.... Basically luffy's best balance between boundman and snakeman. Not as fast as snakeman but stronger than snakeman. Not as strong as boundman but faster than boundman.

I definitely think he'll have to show something new since Kaido one-shot him in Gear 4. Maybe not a Gear 5 thought that would be awesome, but a new form for gear 4. Also he needs to be able to use it for a longer amount of time since it is so taxing.

I would think luffy is already past his gear 4 stamina issues. Back at WCI he used gear 4 against cracker and still managed to fight all night. Then he used gear 4 again against big mom, and several times against katakuri. Luffy had to retreat a couple times but still, he never suffered nearly as much the gear's side effects as when he fought doflamingo. Add to that at least 2 substantial haki boosts since then. Even if gear 4 can't be used as casually as the other 2, luffy is probably at least close to that.

Also, odds are that luffy's new armor haki will be enough for kaido to not be able to one shot him in any form. Hyoguro managed to survive an attack from big mom using his own projected haki... Granted big mom was probably nowhere near her peak given her absent memory but still, if that old man did it then then its not a stretch that luffy could take substantially more than that.

See whatever it is, I think it will be able to deal a finishing blow since it seems like it'll be a team fight with Luffy, Kidd and Law. An updated version of King Kong Gun perhaps.

Just leave Big Mom alone already, she's fun as hell, but also too much powerful so obviously she has to be nerfed somehow. Also it has been the thing since the beginning of the manga, Strawhats are lucky, that's the way Oda deals with his main characters : they're not monsters like BM or Kaido, but they're much more lucky, smart and unpredictable.

But in my opinion, if Nami ever happens to get Prometheus, it's not as much to get BM weaker than to make Nami stronger & keep those fun cloud and sun in the story (Yonko won't last forever).

If we are accepting cheap tricks and gimmicks to defeat one of the strongest Pirates to ever brave the sea (Linlin), then I would prefer Oda to just not touch her after Whole Cake arc, and make Pudding alter her memories to forget Straw Hats or something. If Oda really wanted her gone, he could just offscreen make her irrelevant, like Eneru. I don't really understand the reasoning here. If Nami steals Prometheus from her it sullies the memory of OP readers about her, forever I'm afraid.

But it is still only speculation and far reaching one at that. Most likely Big Mom will not lose Prometheus because his attitude is way different than Zeus, he is way more serious and unforgiving, so it seems unlikely. It's just that the prospect scares me.

I respect your opinion, but I guess we're just different kind of readers which is all fine.
In my eyes, she's a just a fool afflicted with mental issues that no one could ever manage to help (Where are you Naruto !). A very scary and monstuous kind of fool. For christ's sake, she's asking candy as a very serious form of retribution. She's nowhere near normal, and she shouldn't be as dignified as you suggest it.

She's only a Yonko because she wants to keep eating. In a way, she's a kind of Luffy-like Baka.
I am certain she'll have many other badass moments, but let us enjoy the ride, and let the Strawhats' weaklings grow (and make us laugh!). With or without Prometheus she's still out of everyone league anyway. So what's the fuss about?

Man how I would love the adventures of Roger as a side series by someone closely following Oda (like Boruto) or even Shanks and Buggy (in an alternate timeline or something).

So.... something just occurred to me... Back in the day we know that shanks intercepted kaido, which in turn helped WB get to marineford without issues. But... why do this? Wouldn't it have been better to simply intercept WB and stop him from making it to the battle?

Shanks knows he can't stop WB but he is more than capable of stopping Kaido is the most likely to have happened

Shanks may have wanted Whitebeard to save Ace. He knew he was Luffy's brother, so he was probably just lending a hand for Luffy's sake.

I don't think stopping WB was ever on the table, otherwise it'd be something he would've tried when they met; rather than attempt to persuade him with words. At that point, he was resigned to the fact that Whitebeard would make his way to Marineford. It may have something to do with Luffy and Ace's bond but I also think it was because Shanks respected Whitebeard. So whether he succeeded or, he didn't want anyone else to try to stop him before he even attempted to save Ace.
Shanks also said later that though Whitebeard was an enemy, he was someone he respected a lot. I don't think he would say the same of the other emperors.

Also Kaido leaving Wano to intercept Whitebeard would've been a great opportunity for an organised uprising in the country, since he would've likely taken his top brass with him.

Where i am coming from is basically shank's attitude towards what he has referred to as an age of recklessness. The war at marineford is by all intents and purposes maximum recklessness. And if shanks was really out to save ace... you'd think he would have joined WB at the war. If he joined with WB then even kaido wouldn't have gone out to try and meet them. It's just too much. I suppose joining WB could also have worked to actually draw more people in to party though...
