My conclusion from jump festa 2022 is :-

1) oda has confirmed that luffy will meet shanks in the movie Red ( to be released in August 2022)

2) I think there is no way luffy can meet shanks in a movie before he meets him in the manga...so wano will not only end next year but also by July 2022 with shanks meeting luffy at the end of wano or right after wano.

Perhaps, after Wano arc ends, the next side adventure for the Strawhats crew will be in this upcoming movie that will later, set up the final story arc of the series.

get used to it because it is not the first time, there is a sequence from an opening where luffy is fighting akainu with hardening...if they face each other, then you will feel the same as now...
Edit: after re-watching it, it seems they spoiled more then that...

Possibly the most boring song I've heard in a One Piece opening.. usually even the ones I don't like have some energy to them, this doesn't match the intensity of the visuals at all.

I'm really apprehensive about major plot beats happening in a tie-in movie. Other movies having little nods to things that don't directly matter, like Shiki's existence or the log pose to Laugh Tale, are one thing, but the meeting between Luffy and Shanks in the New World that everyone's been waiting for since chapter flipping ONE?! That's... I don't like that.

I'm really apprehensive about major plot beats happening in a tie-in movie. Other movies having little nods to things that don't directly matter, like Shiki's existence or the log pose to Laugh Tale, are one thing, but the meeting between Luffy and Shanks in the New World that everyone's been waiting for since chapter flipping ONE?! I wouldn't be too worried. All the main plot hints presented in Stampede were discoverable before, I just did not find any of them before aside from the connection to the Divine Comedy (which I found after the true romanization of Rafuteru was spoilered, so before watching the movie). I didn't rely on the movie for any of the other ones either, their presence there only came to mind later, and it's not much anyways.

He's totally going to behave like the Stampede cameos or Kuzan in Z. A generic replica of his character. There's probably not going to be much plot anyways and half of the movie will be Luffy's fight.

It's literally called FILM RED and is being marketed as Shanks's big return. His flippin' scars are on the title of the movie. Ain't no way he's going to just be a Kuzan cameo lol.

The last movie presented us with "a legendary Roger Pirate", and not just anyone but "Roger's former rival". The character doesn't even exist in Manga canon though, judging by the Oden flashback.

It also has cameos from virtually EVERYONE. And still no consequences.

The movie pretty much can invent anything about Shanks without major consequences.

Shanks is one of the most popular characters in all of One Piece, and his reunion with Luffy has been one of the big canon milestones we've been waiting for for over a thousand chapters. I just think it's shitty to have a different medium tie-in be integral to the canon plot in a way that other movies don't have to worry about.

I don't want to be doing a re-read in 10 years, and then have to dig through an old harddrive to find some stupid movie to understand canon content.

My guess is the movie will not involve anything manga plot relevant to Shanks. From the poster and descriptions, I'm betting the new character that will be introduced is going to drive the plot and she will be tied into Shanks.

Having Shanks related stuff on the marketing material is just for sales in my mind. I wouldn't be surprised if we only see Shanks at the beginning to introduce the character through some flashback and maybe at the end he will show up to where events take place in the movie to make some commentary.
